Download new music. Buy a long book. Netflix offline downloads. A perky or xannie to help you pass out.
I fly so rarely I can't get my mind around how /trv/lers can actually get bored of it. It's always an exciting experience for me.
If flying Economy, get some kind of cushioning for your ass.
Just fucking sleep

>I drive so rarely I can't get my mind around how drivers can actually get bored of it. It's always an exciting experience for me.
This is what you sound like to a frequent flyer

I can't get my mind around how people can be afraid of flying. Most people who fear flying are actually middle and upper class white people.
There are thousands of third-world shitskins who have no idea how anything more complex than a clay pot works, but they're happy to hop on a plane to search for new opportunity. But white people are terrified of a winged tube of aluminum that they invented, that is also statistically the safest mode of transport.
White people:
>Gosh, dear, this aeroplane device sure is intimidating like the dickens! Better take a valium to sort myself out.
Non-white people:
>I take adee airplane and den I take adee jobs! Yaaaaaaaaaay!

This. Airplanes are cool as fuck yo.

Cool story. Mind if I reblog this?

Why is a class war breaking out in the thread? Jesus, is this /pol/?
I usually try to adjust to the time zone before I arrive at my destination via sleeping/waking up at different times, or if I'm lazy, just suck it up.
If the flight itself is a hassle, sleep. Get a neck pillow, and drink plenty of water. Most long flights provide complimentary decks of cards if asked, if you're awake and want to play solitaire.

Just learn to enjoy the pain.
We had a long thread about this very recently. There was a near consensus among Americans that alcohol, sleeping pills and opiods are the way to go.

I am kind of an airplanes nerd so I enjoy it.
Taking a 11 hours flight in 2 weeks, already excited.

I bring my ebook reader.

>11 hours flight
That's not LONG at all.
Try 16-18 hours.
11h is really easy, just shitpost and browse around/read, watch a movie, take a nap and you'll almost there.
But with intercontinental 16+ flight you'd have done all that and still got 6+, extremely slow, hours to spend while waiting to land.
>>1294594
Well, it's going to be my longest flight so far.
>shitpost and browse
I won't have wifi, otherwise it would be a piece of cake. And it's really difficult for me to sleep in planes (or trains, buses or whatever, basically it's just difficult for me to sleep if I'm not lying down).
Anyway I don't think it will feel that long, I'll enjoy it.
>>1293123
I take Nyquil right before I get on the airplane then cover my head with the complementary blanket and sleep for the first 8 or so hours. Then I watch a few movies, eat, use the toilet a few times, walk around a bit to stretch my legs, and that pretty much does it.
Just book business or first class and you'll love every single minute.

how hard is it to get valium?
keep in mind i'm australian, should i even bother? I feel like the doctors would be fags and just give me some brochure on flying anxiety and tell me "dont worry about it bro"
>>1294594
Hey look, it's that guy that tries to one-up everybody
>>1294686
how do you get rich enough to do that senpai?

Seconding valium or 20mg ambien for added awkwardness

Don't mention any flight. Tell them it's been 1 month you sleep like shit and can't go to bed before 2AM.
Tell you tried melatonin valerian and other OTCs without results.
>Worked for me, except I didn't have to lie

driving is always exciting if you love what you drive
I put on anywhere from 50-400 km a day for work and I still enjoy driving
>>1293123
Podcasts
I always download about 10 old school WWE podcasts before a flight
>>1293375
Sounds to me like white people need to be genocided then?
Taking for the first time a 22 hours flight to Japan in December.
>>1293192
I like short distance flights, but long distance kills me, flew from frankfurt to New Orleans a month ago, 11 hours in economy, screaming kid and faggot who kept his window open on a day flight, I want to hear your opinion after it's been 8 hours and you see on the screen that you have 3 hours left.
But flying first class is always fucking great, with the almost nonstop food and fully reclined chair it is honestly a great experience

Came here just to say valium
>>1293160
>getting wasted
Don't be that cunt, no one likes a drunk person on a plane. Should be fucking banned, it's a total disgrace
>>1293123
Muscle relaxers and melatonin, there goes nine hours easy

good music and/or books

I once had a 24 hours long trip (18 hours flying in total) two weeks after a 14 hour flight.
You just have to get in your head that you'll go through it, it's just a matter of time. I also recommend poping some kind of relaxing-effect pill and drinking a little bit in the plane. Sleeping with that will make you through 5 hours at least. You can also watch movies, and listen to music, but I strongly recommend talking to someone and having a walk every hour or so. Talking to the old lady next to my seat really made the difference for me. It makes the flight less awkward and you don't feel alone anymore.
Bonus story: this old lady was actually rad, she was an austrian touristic guide who organised trips around the world for rich old people, this time she was visiting Peru, the country from which our flight departed.
Good luck and have a nice trip!!
I always find flying enjoyable because I take it as an excuse to catch up on reading, podcasts, or work. I've only dealt with 8-9 hour flights at the most, but mindset is key for me. Everyone in that plane either has stuff to do or just wants to be where they want to be, and enjoying the ride is a choice.

It's a sensation completely foreign to the human body though
Are those u-shaped neck pillows worth it? I can never get the headrest (on any airline) into a comfortable position.
>>1293123
If you want to watch the plane's movies or whatever, get one of these and you can use your own ear/headphones
>not using long flights as an opportunity to plough through your anime backlog.
For real niggah, on longer flights you could watch Legend of the Galactic Heroes from beginning to end.

GENERAL TIPS
>When you book the flight
- If you are 2, book 2 seats on the left and the right of a 3 place row. Chances are you won't get anyone between you two as people tend to travel in groups.
- Try to get the row next to the emergency exit doors. More space for the legs. Negociate with the stewart, sometimes they'll give it for free or a smile.
- Avoid the back of the plane, expecially just behind the wings. It shakes and it's noisy.
>Before/During the flight
- Don't sleep much the night before
- Wear comfy clothes, hiking pants are great
- Get yourself a book
- Try to find someone to play with if your seat has a screen with games on it. I met a cutie that way.

I just tell the doctor i have a fear of flying and get the prescription without any trouble. First time i had to specifically describe my 'symptoms' but now they just dish it out. I'm not scared of flying i just dislike being in an uncomfortable seat for 11+ hours.

>watching anime
>watching anime in public
wow

I like talking to people but it's sometimes kinda sad. Last time I had a 10+ hour flight., I met two girls that we're going on the same flight. We were on the same connecting flight and we were delayed so had to argue with the airline to be let in.
We bonded a bit, and we ended being upgrade to business class as the plane was already full. We talked a lot and we genuinely became friends during that flight.
It was sad when we landed and had to part ways, never to see each others again. Thogh we still chat in kikebook.

If you fly in a moden plane you can use regulra headphones.
Noise cancelling headphones make it much more enjoyable. Comfortable cloths also. For me shorts and the little blanket you get and I'm the perfect temperature.
>>1298686
Civilized people don't wear shorts outside of resorts / beach towns.
