OP, head to the eastern half of the country away from Ljubljana. Mind you, there is cool shit on the western half, as well.

Bled, Bohinj are overcrowded, sad to say. It was better a few years ago but it's getting ridiculously cramped.

I can't suggest anything if you don't tell what interests you.

The country is freaking small. You can stay in Ljubljana where everything is cheap and just do daytrips to anywhere in the country. Literally everything is within 1-3 hours from Ljubljana.
I stayed in Ljubljana for a week and did daytrips to Bled, Bohinj, Postojna caves (a fucking must), Skofja Loka and Jamnik (google Jamnik, it will blow your mind).
I rate the country really high, its beautiful. Also the local beer Lasko is probably one of the best commercial beers i ever had.
In Ljubljana, check out Metelkova area and just have a stroll around, there are some hip cafés and shit.
