Bangkok is shit
bump, Im in bangkok and I dont know where to go too
>>1285841
That's because you went to a city that completely sucks. Think a little harder, the next time.
>>1285841
Well what do you want? Go to Soi Cowboy for starters.
Going there next monday! How many days would you recommend for typical (non-party) touristy stuff?
>>1286002
4 should suffice, use public transport to get around
Strange Bangkok really is a love it or hate it city. It really is a lot of fun, I love it personally but I can understand why people would hate it. It's loud, hot and has strange smells sometimes, there is never a dull moment though.
Im going next year
im contemplating going for airbnb since their houses have nice as fuck views and infinity pool which hit right on my autism spot but most of them ask for security deposit, which im a bit offended by since it assumes that you're going to break shit
is it better to go for hotels,im thinking about avani, chatrium, dusit thani or centre point ploenchit
>>1285841
chatuchak,wat arun,asiatique are breddy gud
their malls are also top tier

Both of you can suck a fat one, the Big Mango is one of the best cities in the world to have a night out.
>>1285906
Cowboy is ridiculously expensive these days, the drinks and the women, it's nice to go and people watch or remind yourself you're in heaven for pussy but I find Nana is a bit more fun. Still, it's better than Patpong...

>bars / clubs
Bars are everywhere & cater for all tastes, but vary by neighbourhood. Most in Sukhumvit are expat oriented, and priced accordingly. There's British pubs, sports bars, craft beer bars, cocktail bars etc etc, get on Yelp or Trip Advisor and find what you want.
>TGs
Tinder, ThaiSmile, bars, clubs. Working girls can be found in the usual spots, there are whole forums devoted to this sort of thing.
>Farangs
Tinder, Bumble
>Ever been with a farang
Yes, a couple, 1 through mutual friends, 1 grotty tourist I met in KSR, 1 on Tinder.

there are no human relationships in bangkok. it is all money and cynically efficient tourist infrastructure
100% awful. the rest of thailand is nice though
>>1286098
This. I had a long tour around Thailand and I enjoyed everything -- but Bangkok.
People who love it are those who are into Thai traps and ignorant nightlife. So, basically, shallow and frivoluos people.
Basically, the problem with Bangkok is what this anon >>1286042 pointed out:
>It's loud, hot and has strange smells sometimes
Fuck that, I'm in for the nature side, for the temples, even for some entertainment in a futuristic metropolis, but I'd rather go to an European capital a thousand times.
Bangkok is unhealthy, smells like shit and dirty sex.

Found today's Real Traveller.

Glow is the only decentist club I found there. Funktion 1 soundsystem, decent House/Techno. 99% of dance music in Thailand is horrendous.
Bangkok is flawed but lively/fun, wouldn't want to spend too long there but it's a good base for SEA
You should go to phi phi island instead.
Just take the flight to phuket and thrn a taxi to the phuket harbour. 3 times a day there are boats going to phi phi like 3 times a day starting 9 in the morning or some.
The price for the boat is 350/bath.
I can guarantee that you will have a better time there than in bankok.
>>1286195
5 days is enough to see everything there
while clubs are generally mediocre i adore their rooftop scene
a great replacement for those finding difficulty in joining the mile high club
>>1286154
maybe he just has a healthy disgust by aids and the people who spread it
i swear to god you people are such idiots. then you cry about how its someone elses fault, republicans faul, trumps fault, that youre dying of a preventable disease
seriously fuck off
>>1286196
seconding this a lot
fuck bangcock, the explosion of cocks

How nice a place is Phuket?
How difficult is it to travel with a checked bag out there? Sorry if that's a stupid question but I don't have much outside the country travel experience. Leaving from Guam (probably) to Phuket. Will it be too difficult to bring 1 checked bag between two people? Would like to throw a kite and harness into the checked bag so I'd only have to rent a board if its windy.
Don't plan on staying in Phuket for full two weeks I'm over in Thailand but figured it would be a good starting point.

Phuket is a decent sized island with an international airport, it has a variety of tourist offerings, ranging from exclusive private villas both on & off shore, to the crass, mass-market package tourist areas like Patong, Karon or Kata, and the beaches aren't even that nice. I'd recommend going to Phi Phi and staying at one of the resorts along the southern end, NOT in Phi Phi town (scumpacker central). Personally I prefer Samui or Pha Ngan, but there's a lot of other beach offerings closer to Bangkok, such has Hua Hin or Pattaya.
>>1287671
seems far simpler to just bring a backpack, would checking 1 bag be a major hassle if I plan on maybe checking out Chaing Mai or Bangkok for a day or two the before trip is over?

Get soapy massage,
Its the best

>has strange smells sometimes
Only sometimes? Every part of it that I've been to reeks like an open sewer.
I took the Skytrain to the wrong stop one time and ended up by some luxury high-rises next to a huge golf course. I thought to myself, "Self, this place reeks even worse than most of the rest of Bangkok! I haven't smelled anything so horrible since driving past a sewage treatment plant in Oregon!" I looked around a bit more and realized there was a sewage aeration pond between the Skytrain platform and the golf course. What a great place to put luxury high-rise buildings!

Isn't Koh Phi-Phi where tourists keep getting murdered and the local cops are covering it up for the "hi-so" family whose son is the most likely murderer?
>>1288564
tell me more, that's some crazy shit.
I have some friends that have lived in Thailand as expats for ten to fifteen years, apparently tourists get fucked up there pretty regularly and it isn't reported. I plan on going there though, I guess you just have to watch yourself.
I have the opportunity to go on vacation between Oct 20th and Nov 5th. Is this a good time to stay in Bangkok? Will King Bhumibol's funeral overshadow the overall mood and nightlife?
