So I'm going to China next week for a month long trip around the country and I feel like I'm starting to develop some anxiety here. Is it really a safe country for a female traveller? I know the murder rates are low, so I'm not THAT worried about it, but few things bother me:
1. How bad is the traffic? I mean I know it's bad, I've read like hundreds articles about it and it started to get me nervous. Not to mention that every day there's another liveleak video of Chinese people being run over on the streets or dying in weird escalator accidents. Is it really that common? What are my chances of being in a road accident? My plan is to use a lot of buses and trains, as well as going on foot and using bikes in the countryside.
2. I'm not your typical Asian girl when it comes to looks. I'm busty, I'm getting a lot of unwanted attention even in my home country, I'm afraid it could be even worse in a country where most women have "boyish" figure. I'm even afraid someone might follow me and try to rape me or something. I'm being paranoid, right?
3. Is riding a bike safe in Chinese countryside? I'm talking here about Guilin, Yangshuo, Longji terraces. In my mind I'm being all alone on a field somewhere far away from towns and it freaks me out.
4. Are trains a safe option? Which are better, hard or soft sleepers?
Oh, and I'm sleeeping in hotels, not hostels btw.

I fucking hate you, get off /trv/ and fuck right off.
You don't know how to use these boards.
b b b bait
mainland china i felt the 2nd safest in 'as a female tourist' btw
taiwan 1st
living there must suck, but they didn't seem to dare touch tourists
roads are crap between yangshuo and guilin
It's not a bait, sorry if I offended someone somehow, English is not my 1st language, maybe I didn't make myself clear. I meant nothing wrong.
Anyway,
>>1280783
Thanks for the info! That's good to know. Actually between guilin and yangshuo I'm planning to take a boat. But then again I'm going to spend ~5-7 days on riding a bike there.

1. driving is scary if you have never taken a taxi or bus in a developing country before, if you have then it's basically the same old. some of their public buses are so fucking awful, they bump horribly, but you don't need to worry about crime on them. if it's too much for you i imagine you could explain this to someone that works at the place you are staying and they could call a driver for you, china has it's own version of uber. they could explain that you want a smooth ride to the driver and all that, worth a shot.
2. might get harassed by some other foreigners if you go to a club and drink too much, might get raped, same as clubs anywhere.
3. can't really comment on this, same as other developing countries, again. i've heard bikes get stolen quite often though.
4. trains are awesome, hard sleeper is fine but soft sleeper is better. hard sleeper will be more noisy and offer less room but meh. if you don't have someone booking the tickets for you keep in mind the train stations differ from place to place and it might be hard to find someone that speaks english in them.
China is a lot of fun, bad shit can happen if you don't keep your bearings. i would just advise you not to listen to the careless dipshits there that act like it's completely safe, for some reason there is no shortage of them in China even though plenty of stuff goes down there. At the same time don't be too paranoid, chances are you won't have issues if you are smart about things.
nice bait 2

i will also mention if there is one thing to fear it's the hospitals there, try not to get injured while in country. even if you have to avoid doing some fun stuff, you don't really want a stay in a chinese hospital. some of them are fine, but others really aren't, at all.
and talk to chinese people, they are really good people
I think china has the same risk as most normal places, I think if you're walking alone at night, female and slightly less risky but also as a male, you should be very cautious.
>>1280715
>2. I'm not your typical Asian girl when it comes to looks. I'm busty
Going to need pictures to show us how busty before I can give you an accurate response
>>1280819
I think that's another way of saying she's fat.
Eh, I see now I've made a mistake mentioning my figure. It's not even my biggest concern, I get it, people in China won't care, I'm satisfied with this answer, let's move on. My biggest concern right know is traffic and road-related accidents.
>>1280807
Thanks for all the info! I obviously won't be wandering alone at night and I'm not planning on going to clubs, so that should be fine.
I think I'd go with hard sleepers, with so many train rides it is a significant difference money-wise for me. I will book the tickets by the agency, so that's one problem less.
Thank you again for an actual answer ;) It was very helpful.
i just want to let you know that i'm a loser who can't handle how horny i get just by reading that you're a busty asian... seriously i need to fuck a hooker
> tfw no busty asian qt will ever join you in an intercontinental trip around the world, where you will have protect her from waves of horny chinks and pooinloos

at the port in yangshuo ... it was actually one of the very few places where they blatantly tried to rip us off on the mainland.
(femanon travel 101: if someone is pushy, just do the pretend they do not exist thing. like don't try to say no. if you accidentally make eye contact, pretend you were just looking that way etc.)
we had a local sim card, so we could just get on the internet and look up on travel forums how much the regular prices should be, as we forgot to prepare that info... let the scammers shout (they gave up soon after), and when we got the info online we approached the real boat stands.
should you have any problem, just ask the nearest person for help. when the closest person had zero clue, a pointing game started, and it quickly led us to someone who would provide genuine, useful help.
you might want to try female dorms in some hostels just to get some up to date tips. english speaking mainlanders were not interested in our culture too much (fair enough, we were in china anyway), but they gave us shitloads of info.
>>1281000
that busty chink is horny too, so you have to stop her from fucking all that cock
>>1280715
>How bad is the traffic?
Pretty fucking bad. They don't give a fuck about pedestrians, and if some richfag runs over you with his Porsche he WILL back up and kill you because he thinks it'll be cheaper than paying your medical bills for the rest of your life.
>I'm busty,
Tits or GTFO, then.
3. See #1
4. Nobody's gonna rape you.
>>1280808
>and talk to chinese people, they are really good people
I can't decide to respond with, "great bait," or, "citation needed."
>>1280808
Rumor has is that the chinese are scarred by decades of poorly managed communism and centuries of a highly exploited lower class. They won't help you unless you pay them, or so I've heard.
I'm in China right now.
It's like the safest place I've ever been. Chinese men are ridiculously beta, they will not start anything. I don't know why they all insist of having bars on their windows. My Chinese friends all think crime is bad and that i should watch out but nothing ever fucking happens, ever. I've been here months now.
Like they literally have TVs at bus stops and other public places, if it was the west or somewhere else they would stolen immediately.
1. The traffic isn't bad, yes its not to western standards but it's not to India standards either, people follow the rules for the most part, it's more like the rules are more relaxed rather than the drivers are bad. Those liveleak videos go viral because the chinese people are shocked, if they didn't give a shit the videos wouldnt go viral. You can use the rental bikes all the time, very cheap, very easy and safe. I've never cycled on a road before but ive been doing it in china a lot now.
2. They have female only metro carriages, but not really needed, groping can happen but not that often, just don't dress in a way that will garner lots of attention, you are being paranoid and stupid, the female only carriages aren't even needed in this country.
3. Riding a bike is safe anywhere, Chinese people are not curious and they dont care. I'm a white guy and no one gives a single shit, I've been to India and other places where everyone stares and wants to talk to me, in China, even rural China, no one fucking cares at all, even shop keepers don't look at you when you buy things. If you're an Asian woman no one will look at you even more, and enough Chinese women are busty enough to still be normal.
4. Trains in China are genuinely superior to western trains, they're modern, spacious and comfortable. The sleeper trains are more crowded but still fine. Regardless if you're even moderately wealthy you can just fly everywhere, it's like $70 for an internal flight, only a little more than the bullet trains.
>>1282168
wrong
white people are so fucking stupid
i am japanese for reference
chinese dont help victims because inder chinese law they become liable for the victim, your left wing states in america and europe have similar legal issues and guess what, no one helps each ither there either
on e topic, chinese people are mostly nice. wouldn't wanna live there or have then dominate the world, but americans and europeans are not particularly brnign in either regard either
china is safer than europe where the police now prosecute rape victims instead of rapists
>>1281979
>>1282168
Well I lived in a massive city there for over a year. I rarely had any issues. I travel quite a bit too and I was impressed by how friendly they were. You can get ripped off pretty easy, but that's typical in most developing countries. You are free to disagree, I'm just speaking from my experience.
This changes in some areas, the South can be a pretty rough sometimes. It's a big country so I can't speak for everywhere, but Northern and Central China were nice for me. Police and Security were also helpful too, I was pleasantly surprised.
>>1282191
>than europe where the police now prosecute rape victims instead of rapists
Don't know what Europe you're talking about, unless this is a Europe is now Islamic meme
>>1282182
Which part of China though?
>>1282191
>your left wing states in america and europe have similar legal issues and guess what, no one helps each ither there either
you're actually obliged to help others in Europe and you face a penalty for refusing to help. You're also not liable for any damages done in the act.
>>1280715
Get the fuck out of here. Worst bait this week.
>>1282191
>upset about memes
>spreads memes
k tetsuo, whatever you say
>>1281024
Thanks for info, I've decided to book guilin-yangshuo cruise by the agency, so I hope no one will scam me that way.
>>1282182
I feel better now, thanks! I'm not going to use female only metro, I'm not that paranoid.
I do tend to overdramatize sometimes, it seems I did it again, thanks for clearing some things for me.
>>1282243
Oh jesus christ, fuck off already. What's so hard to belive in, that there are females who go to China, that there are western people afraid of eastern countries they do not know or that some females are more busty than others and they do encounter problems with that? Jesus, some people.
>>1282196
>pic
this is one of my sources. I'm usually very careful with believing what I read here but this story seems credible because it's just too detailed.
also my mum works as a secretary at the local university hospital where there are several chinese doctors employed, and according to her they're some of the rudest and unpleasant people she has ever worked with.
>>1282269
that's a fucking anonymous post on an anonymous forum, every source in this thread is just as realiable. that's also been rehashed so many times here it's ridiculous.
plus see what i posted here
>>1280808
which basically states that i agree with that pasta. but let me explain something, that's a fact of life in a lot of developing countries, their hospitals shit and they are especially low on empathy. it sucks, but that's the risk you take if you go.
that's not really the fault of the average chinese guy you meet on the street that helps you find your way when you are lost (although the people there kind of sucked with giving me directions)
>>1282266
>or that some females are more busty than others
she did it again
>>1280715
Write your will, designate an executor, etc. You are unlikely to survive.
In my own opinion I'd say the roads in China are tits or gtfo
If you really want to be raped so badly, there are other places you can go.
