It changed my life.
I'm from Portugal and wanted to share this with you guys, I was there for work, and manage to still visit a lot of places, the island it's just beutiful.
At first was a cultural shock, but past the first week I was already adapted to that new word. Every beach there, has cristal clear water, something a bit rare in most beaches, the people are really helpful and frindly, traffic not so great tho, Gozo is amazing, and make sure you visit Popeye Village.
That was my second big trip, I was born in Brazil and came to Portugal really young, but this trip to Malta made me realise that there's nothing like travlleing and exploring new places.
Earth is beutiful.
Valletta looks really amazing

Sounds awesome, OP. I'm going to look into it for the upcoming summer. Malta's a place I've had in the back of my mind, but it's a low-key travel destination, I think it gets overlooked.
I wish we could get more posts like OP's on /trv/, people reporting on places that they've been, rather than just like
>in Witchita wot do?
>>1248367
You should really visit there.
It's a bit old and dusty desu, but it has that good old vibe, not sure if I'm making myself clear lol.
>>1248293
>cultural shock from Portugal
>make sure you visit Popeye Village
is that some kind of joke?
Anyway Malta is a very nice place.
Got some good wines too

Well, you got Ghar Lapsi, Golden Bay Beach, Paceville, Saint Peters Pool, etc, Popeye Village got me because I'm a fan.
About the cultural shock, it happens, not for everyone but for me it did a little bit.

Malta also has the single most pathetic public transport I've ever seen.
It's at this bizarre point where it pretends it's a perfectly organized first world system with stops and schedules but is actually such a mess it barely even functions.

That's true, it's only there that a bus takes 25mins or more to do no more than a mile. The traffic is horrible.
Cool post. I was planning on living there and working for an iGaming company when my contract teaching English in Korea is up. I don't know about the money but I've heard it's easy to get a job there if you're a native English speaker.

>working for an iGaming company
Ayyyy, I'm considering a similar job there too.
>>1248675
I was working near that company, what are the odds lol

Didn't they get all those articulated buses from London and then had problems because the streets were narrow?
>>1248946
Didn't know the buses were from London. But yes, the streets are not great, I was there for a month and saw 4 car accidents, 1 involving a bus.

I've considered working for a few months in Malta, I'd love to hear more OP.
What kind of work were you doing? Was getting settled difficult? What was the culture shock like and how were the people?

>What kind of work were you doing there?
I'm a graphic designer, I was working for a furniture company, on their marketing department and I created a whole new catalogue for them and I did some rebranding.
>Was getting settle difficult?
Not that much, it depends, in terms of what you see everyday, Malta is not a modern place in terms of architecture, except for Slima, Paceville, Valleta, and I like a modern places, I'm not talking about Dubai style, just something that feels like 21st century. The rent there is kind of low, if you don't chose to live in the main cities, water pressure is low, and never drink tap water, but overall, I ended up pretty good.
>What was the cultural shock like and how were the people?
I may be wrong but the italians there are a bit rude, on the other hand maltese people are really helpful and frindly. But if you need something, ask, they won't do shit if you don't complain in case you have a problem or something. The girls, well, 6 out of 10 I saw there was an easy 8, not even joking.

Sounds nice. Thankfully I have a high tolerance for sub-modern living arrangements so I should be able to manage. I doubt I'll be able to get a job like that though, I'll have to look into what opportunities are on the island and how easy they are to get.

Their economy is looking really good.
Are you european? Just go to EURES, an UE type of job searching site and you'll find decent jobs there depending on your field. Nevertheless, it's not so hard to find a good job there.

>Are you european?
For now anyway. Thanks for the tips.
