I want to go to NYC.
But I'm scared. I literally know no one there, if anything bad happens to me there will be no one to take care, since I know no one there. I also have no idea what to expect when it comes to crime rate.
Any steps I should take to be less afraid?

Also the crime rate here is very low compared to other large american cities.

NYC is safe, just don't go to certain neighborhoods (small places which you probably won't visit anyway) at night and you're fine.

Yeah the only places that might actually be unsafe at night are way out of the paths pretty much any tourists would go on.
