How long can someone last off of $10,000 backpacking Europe?

I gues it would depend on where you are backpacking, I think it will last way longer in eastern europe than in other parts.

$10,000 USD got me airfare from JFK>Rome and back, 3month 1st class eurail pass, and 11 weeks in europe without ever having to worry about money. Like i of course had to budget and monitor my funds and spending rate but it never stopped me from doing what i wanted even if it was expensive (ie dropping 600$ to skydive in the swiss alps on a whim). I drank almost every night, went on countless pubcrawls, seldom cooked my own meals aside from having a grocery store lunch, rented several cars, flew in and out of ireland, and stayed at hostels the entire time. Within reason i could do whatever the hell i wanted with $10,000 in ~3 months. This was all western europe aside from a few central european countries.

It really depends on how much you want to budget yourself. I never backpacked before or traveled solo or been to another country, so i gave myself a relatively fat budget so my first trip would be awesome, and it was. That said i wouldnt have done it any other way for my first time - but when i eventually go back ill be spending waaaay less. I could probably do the same amount of time with only $5000 and be comfortable. Definitely recomend giving yourself a bigger allowance your first go around - enjoy the exotic fruits of travel when its fresh at it can come.

Theres tons of factors though so more info would be needed if you want more in return. Took me a year of planning and saving to do it with no help other than google and /trv/. Dont feel bad if obvious things arent so obvious to you, more than happy to help.
