Ended up in Slovenia by mistake. Missed my flight and needed to leave China ASAP.
I'd like to say Slovenia is a hidden gem, but I don't even know enough about it to know if people realize how beautiful it is. Never seen a more beautiful country in my life. And what's more practically everyone in the whole damn place speaks English. And everything is dirt cheap.
Why has nobody told me about Slovenia before?
Pic related is from some random town that doesn't appear on any of the tourist brochures and whatnot found in the capital. Half the buildings were boarded up. Had the best ice cream in my life in a cafe where half the town seemed to be with their children.
Taken in the capital. Small as shit with some of the best food I've ever had in Europe. Had the greatest chocolate muffin in my life in another cafe (fucking everywhere).
Mind you, Slovenia has to have the worst museums and art galleries I have ever seen. I mean, the national museums were a disgrace. Downright paltry.
What's up with this Slovenia meme there past few weeks on /trv/, why are you all coming here?
It's getting so fucking touristy, Bled is completely ruined and the center of Ljubljana has gone from a comfy student place 3 years ago to tourist central, the old town has been completely gentrified/touristified.
RREEEEEE and so on
I mean I love Slovenians (really, I only know awesome people from there), but wouldn't ever recommend Slovenia as a tourist destination. Literally every neighboring country is more interesting than Slovenia. Italy? No need to even mention, Italy is Italy. Austria for the Alps, musea, cafés, Hungary for nightlife and thermal water, Croatia for the coastline and all...
If anything, I'd go back to Slovenia one more for the awesome people, but it's quite boring.
So it has pretty looking towns, but what can you actually do there? How are the girls?

Assume it had to do with visas expiring.
Thanks for your pics, OP! Drove across Europe to Romania with a friend last winter and crossed Slovenia going there and on the way back.
Although we crossed the country twice, I had no idea what it looked like before seeing your pics. Pic related is what it looked like the first time crossing. We were hit with fog around Milano and it lasted until the border between Hungary and Romania. The second time, we crossed the country by night so not much of a view either.

>why are you all coming here?
>here
From that I assume you are Slovenian? Tell us about your homeland. What is there to do? How are the ladies? Etc.
I was in Ljubljana for two days and went on Tinder when I had absolutely nothing better to do. Never had so many matches in any place ever.

Aren't you that rude Slovenian poster which have been appearing in every Slovenian thread recently?

>What is there to do? How are the ladies?
The ladies are rude and ugly and there's only poverty and misery, but we are also unaccountably full.

Looks like part of Upper Carniola with Karawanks at the back. Yeah, we know how lucky we are. No, we don't really want mass tourists, only solo or small groups such as yourself who know how to enjoy themselves.

We like to keep to ourselves from a historical context, we appreciate housekeeping chores, our mountains are a national symbol, so we're pretty much a hiking nation, we're good with sports, we're nice to foreigners because we enjoy a good conversation and we usually like to inquire about your home country's conditions etc. because we like to compare ourselves to you and see what don't have but most importantly, what we do have. We do have good damn nature and we're proud of it.
We also have some bad qualities, but they don't become apparent unless you live here for at least a while.

what are the bad qualities?
>>1206097
last time I checked we were full, xenophobic and poor
no need to come
Bumpin for a bumpkin

>Willingness to fuck over foreigners being one of them.
Well, that isn't one of them and you just got unlucky. There's a lot of yugo diaspora here and they're just looking to scam people, but with regulations tightening as of late, they're running scared. Your best bet is to report them to the national authorities and let them sort it out, they love busting diasporas here.

As for the bad qualities, mostly petty things. Overly complaining about politics for one, we will never be happy with the state of politics and will always complain and argue how things could be better. Most people complain about strangling taxes and redistribution policies, but I personally think this is one of the better aspects of our social policy.
Then there's the proverbial sword in the back by your neighbors. There's a specific psychological term for this that I can't remember, but it's characterized by "grass is greener on the other side" etc, envy and jealousy of your neighbors success. There's a joke going on here that when a fairy appeared to a farmer and told him it could grant him any wish he wanted, but warned him that whatever he wished for, the neighbor would get double. So the farmer thought about it and didn't want his neighbor to benefit from it and so he told the fairy he wished that half of his own livestock would die.
That, general inferiority complex, always delegating responsibility to others in case of a fuckup, and napoleon complex towards foreigners (what do you think about slovenia and x about it etc..).
As far as tourists go, we're happy to show them around and wish them a good time.
The Ljubljana castle is a bit disappointing though
