why doesn't /trv/ have flags?
because of the "poo in loo" meme that makes Indians unable to post on /pol/ or /int/
>>1190342
too bad, I always though our little board was a bit isolated from that, i'm so naive
>>1190336
Because /trv/ is mature board where people actually travel and the location from where you post doesn't add anything of value to the conversation.
I'm actually from x, so do x,y,z...
>lol poo in loo le ebin maymayd ami rigd lads??? kekeke real dravela lulz, proofs?
lol i answered your Q's specifically what more proofs do you need?
>lelelelele no u le poo in le le loo lol xD ebin troled, lulz iz so funneh trolololo dodally regt - t. le 9gog armeh.
>>1190347
if travel is a mature board then wouldn't there be a lot less of that? If im asking questions about a specific country it would be interesting to see responses from people currently in that country, tourist or local..
>>1190347
or are you saying we get raided by the /pol/s?
moot asked us if we wanted flags (I remember the thread) and a lot of people thought they were too good for them.
>>1190349
>>1190350
I'm saying there're people jumping around the flag posts just to meme post. The same copy pastas on sp, int, pol 24/7 by the same baiters.
I wouldn't call it a raid, but a single shitposter can destroy a thread here and we only have a small number of active posters so the effect would be 100x the effect on a board like SP. Flags would open the floodgates to total shitposting.
>>1190354
gotchya, this is why we cant have nice things
>>1190355
Yeah it's kinda sad but the actual system works pretty good.
>>1190354
We already have the occasional edgy underaged /pol/tards shitting up threads, flags would only encourage them more. They would relentlessly shitpost with replies to any meme-class flags (i.e. Sweden, India, Israel etc).

This.
And also for example, if someone from Turkey posted something, someone would instantly call them a fucking turkroach, or if someone did a thread asking about Portugal attractions, someone would instantly reply with "t. Alberto Barbosa XDDDDDDD", so let this stay without flags.
It would be pleasing aesthetically, as it would show a lot of [seemingly] random country flags on a board about traveling.
However, this is 4chan.
Neutral about it.

Gets proposed about every other month. Consensus is that is is a terrible idea because it would increase shitposting, with people commenting on flags instead of making on-topic posts, while adding nothing of value. There are traveleers here, what flag they are posting from means little, we move around.
If a mod wanders by, maybe add a "We already discussed flags, nobody wants them,. no need to start a thread about it" to the sticky.

this
please and thanks
>>1192057
He's obviously a butthurt Indian, but his point is valid. Flags would totally ruin /trv/, as posters would reply to flags and not the content.

>If a mod wanders by, maybe add a "We already discussed flags, nobody wants them,. no need to start a thread about it" to the sticky.
Yes please. This shit has been discussed every few weeks for over a year and the consensus is always that it's a stupid idea
>>1190342
POO
>>1190336
Because this is not /int/
>>1190336
1. it would cause a massive increase in shitposting
2. the /pol/ flame wars would quickly follow
3. flags are determined by IP address, since we are travelers the physical location of the poster is often less than relevant
4. there are personal security issues associated with revealing the location of a traveler on an open forum, in a town of 50,000 there might only be two travelers; thus identifying individuals from their posts is a real threat
there could be issues with thieves tracking tourists, national immigration agencies, or even the home countries of travelers trying to restrict their nationals movements
these are not common issues, but everyday realities for some people
5. ultimately very little benefit is added
