Tokyo or New York?
Yes.
i think NY is better haha LOL
>>1186499
What's that blue line supposed to represent?
>>1186689
new york vaginas are bigger/looser because new york women are whores
tokyo vaginas are tight/small because jap women are less whorish
>>1186684
This is the only correct answer. If you're a fan of big cities where the streets hum with the electricity or millions of things going on around you at once both are excellent choices. Tokyo is more refined but can be overwhelming. New York is more diverse and approachable. Both are great places for food and culture. If world class cities are your thing both have to be on your list.
Tokyo's far better because less blacks and poo-in-loos and basically zero muslims
>>1187142
t. Stormweeb who never went to either place
>>1186499
Tokyo no questions
>Cheaper
>Has parts that would remind you of NY
>train system can get you anywhere in less than a day
>Japan not full of fat fucks
>Airports aren't shit
>No niggers
It's not like half the people in NY speak english anyways, so you might as well go to Tokyo
>>1187144
Trains in NYC are great. Also people aren't really fat here tbqh.
>>1187184
Nah the subway coverage is terrible. Many such cases! i hopw trump forces them to expand and create a few more lines
>>1187186
Where are you trying to go....? New Jersey?
>>1187184
>Trains in NYC are great.
Yeah just don't travel at night
>Also people aren't really fat here tbqh.
Anon come on, 33% overweight 24% morbid
>>1187188
Trains do get slow at night, that is true. But you can always check MTA for exact times.
Gonna need sources on those statistics. For NYC, not the USA.
>>1187191
http://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/health/health-topics/obesity.page
>>1187193
Dang, I guess I only stick to the svelte areas. As a tourist, it would be the same though. Manhattan especially is all skinny people.
>>1187194
seconding this, the only fat people I see inevitably are obvious tourists. all the fatties are probably super far uptown
>>1187184
These people obviously don't live here or come here very often.
And actually you could go to New Jersey by taking the PATH train.
>>1187191
But NYC Subway runs 24/7, with headways of no more than 20 minutes. Tokyo's stops running at midnight.
>>1187144
Are you actually autistic? JFK has never been an issue for me (beyond the inherently annoying nature of traveling by plane).
And who cares if there are black people in NYC? Does your blood pressure rise every time you see a black person?
>>1187216
JFK is god-awful.
>>1187222
I've never had any issues with it, aside from shitty customer service from an airline 9 years ago.
Are you mad that it doesn't look like the airport of an oil wealth city?
>>1187228
This is straight out of my arse, but what at least 50% of visitors to the USA probably go through it? And it's 20 years out of date, service is rubbish, customs/bag collection takes forever no matter what time of day you get in, very few amenities you would see at world class airports, yeah like the oil-kingdom ones. Transport to and from is atrocious.
Sorry lad I thought you would have higher standards for your most famous airport. LAX, comparatively, is better.
>>1187234
I've been to several other airports and never thought "wow this is soooo much better than JFK".
The baggage stuff would depend on the individual airline. My last few trips have been pretty convenient in that regard.
Besides, the trip is not about the airport anyway.
I went to both cities this year for the first time and prefer Tokyo over NYC. People are nicer, a lot cleaner streets, safer, better public transport, etc etc I'm sure you weebs know heaps of reason why Tokyo would be better than NYC.
One thing I liked better in NYC than Tokyo were the art galleries. I think that's about it.
>>1187242
How is the transit in Tokyo better? Aside from being cleaner. NYC's system runs 24 hours a day and is to my knowledge more vast of a system.
NYC is as safe as it gets for a big American city, but I understand Tokyo is ridiculously safe.
And did you do anything in NYC outside of Midtown Manhattan?
Went to both, liked both
Spent around 2 month overall in Tokyo so far and 1 week in NYC, but going back to both next year
Overall though, I do prefer Tokyo but I am a weeb so...
>>1187214
I do live in NYC. I'm aware of the NJ trains but they aren't as convenient as in-city.
>>1187280
No, but they're not bad considering they're also 24/7 and take you into a different stare for the same price as subway fare.
>>1187354
Are the NYC subways safe at night?
>>1187360
Yes. Especially any place a tourist would go
>>1187360
The active ones are. Basically anywhere you would want to go as a tourist is fine. You're not going to the Bronx or anything.
I spend a fair amount of time in both every year. Tokyo is objectively better in almost every way assuming you're not poor.
The biggest drawback of ny is the majority of people there are usually just some flavor of shitty. You don't find the weird unjustified arrogance in Tokyo.
>>1187246
I was quite surprised to realise how user-friendly Tokyo's metro and train system was compared to NYC, despite it being in a foreign language. It was just easier to navigate and I didn't make a single mistake for the two weeks I was there. Whereas I did make a couple of mistakes in NYC like being on the wrong side of the platform sometimes and other stuff.
I don't believe NYC would have a vaster system to Tokyo's, I'd be incredibly surprised to find out that to be a fact haha.
More trains run in Tokyo, that's for sure. They're always on time. The trains are much newer than NYC's, and of course they have the Shinkansen which is just sooo good.
I come from Sydney, Australia and unfortunately I don't think NYC's transit is even as good as our's.
Yes, I stayed three weeks alone in NYC and neighbouring NJ. I visited all boroughs and I did fall in love with the city. But comparatively speaking, it would have one of the worse and least user-friendly metros I've ever experienced, but it still works and does it's job.
>>1186499
Hmm one is a crime/semite ridden shithole with a lot of " diversity " ( danger ) and the other is a bordering on futuristic metropolis with impeccable safety, culture, people and activities.
Tokyo no doubt.
>>1187398
I doubt you've been to NY or did anything there beyond the tourist trap studf if you have
>>1187415
I'm personally a big fan of the NYC subway, and find it to be user friendly. Sure some of the trains are older but I like that.
Once you get used to it, it's like 2nd nature. And the fact that it runs 24/7 is a huge bonus IMO, that really comes in handy if you like going to bars but don't wanna shell out money forna cab each time.
>>1187465
NYC is the safest big city in the US (or possibly second behind San Diego), you idiot.
I can tell you get all your information from /pol/ memes.
>>1186499
As a person who lives in Boston, I can assure you that New York is garbage. The only time New York looks decent is at night when you can't see the copious amounts of trash. But that doesn't come without the price of knowing you're more likely to be robbed by the negroid who hunts at night.
>>1187547
Boston ain't shit compared to NYC. And not that it matters, but boston has a similar percentage of black people so I don't see your point.
And Boston has a higher crine rate than New York, so you fail again.
>>1187548
*crime
>ITT: I watched Taxi Driver so I'm an expert on NYC
>>1187548
Never said the Irish/Italian trash in Boston weren't a problem either.
We are comparing crime of Tokyo and New York, which NY has a lot more crime then Tokyo.
>>1187554
Tokyo's crime is neglible, so a place that has more crime than Tokyo in comparison isn't necessarily dangerous.
Put it this way, the crime in New York in 2016 is far too low to bring down NYC.
>>1187555
I could have phrased the last part better,
"NYC's crime in NYC is far too low to bring down the quality of the city. It's not 1990 anymore."
>>1187545
Yeah I did end up getting used to it after about a week. There was only one instance where we were stuck out after 1AM and it was like a $20 cab home.
>>1187186
There was a 1920s plan to extend the IND line to Springfield Gardens. Still waiting.
>>1187415
You got messed up because some entrances have platforms going to one direction. With Sydney it's just commuter rail with a loop going around downtown.
>>1187547

Imagine how urban Springfield Gardens would be if that happened
>>1187656
Even then though, when I walk around the hood parts of Brooklyn and The Bronx, most people seem slim.

Speak for yourself ;)
Definitely New York, I might be able to run into the subway band "Too Many Zoos". They're touring in Paris now, however.
>>1187655
It's not too difficult to grab a cab in Tokyo
>>1186499
Do you like third world countries where everyone's just out for your money and you have to cram it down their throats to even get a basic level of shitty service and low quality goods while everything around you crumbles behind a tacky facade? That's the US, and I hear NY is the worst of it.
I'd rather get decent value for my money and civilized, safe, clean surroundings in Japan. It's also more exotic, though of course that depends where you are from.
stay out of new york
we are full

>>1187719
>I hear
Why even comment on New York if you haven't been here?
>>1187718
Which is three times the price of a cab in NYC.
>>1187828
Is it because of desperation from no other public transit options after midnight?
>>1187713
24/7 service is why the NYC system sucks compared to Tokyo and can't be properly upgraded or maintained. Same shit that happened in DC is going to happen to NYC. A significant number of people are not riding the train after midnight, but you just want to be able to come home from the bar without having to walk or Lyft.
Tokyo's system isn't perfect but the train system is way better than anywhere in the US because they can have scheduled down time.
What I don't get is why cities don't adopt Philly's system of train closures at night but replacing the subways with buses when the trains are closed. Best of both worlds.
>>1187849
Taxis are significantly more expensive after the trains close. Its called bonus time or something similar. I didn't notice for years until a Japanese friend complained, because I never took a taxi in Tokyo except for when the trains were closed
>>1187934
Dude the trains are packed after hours, people work all sorts of hours. And yes plenty of drunk people too, but part of why NYC nightlife is so great is the 24 hour public transit.
Philly's system wouldn't work in NY because way too many people use public transit after hours, and the system is too vast.
>>1187934
How about putting in a card system. I still have the token I bought.
>>1187184
what the fuck are you smoking ?! nyc has the worst public transportation out of all major flagship cities. american government cant into infrastructure

going from the northside of brooklyn to the south side of brooklyn 2hours
going from the bronx to lower manhatten 2 hours
going from harlem to lower manhatten 1 hour
>quick
you know i can cycle from harlem to lower manhatten in 30 mins or less

>cheap
you're litterally paying mta for shit they dont need
>you can get anywhere in the city
try going to anywhere along the brooklyn queens border
>>1188104
First of all there are free bus transfers for the isolated neighborhoods on the BK/QN border.
Second of all Harlem to downtown is not an hour, take an express train.
Third of all, we are talking about tourism, so let's not talk about the Bronx or traveling from upper Queens to Brooklyn and such. Why don't you complain about Staten Island while you're at it?
>>1188107

good god you've never been out of this shit city and experienced superior public transportation im guessing or you're just a faggot flyover expat who finally came to the big city and thinks it's the best thing since fucking your cousin
new york has the shittiest subway system out of any major flagship city this is nothing new
>>1187246
>more vast of a system
>to my knowledge
Explains.
>>1188396
Yes that is literally what he said you are so very observant fucking retard.
No one visiting is going to want to go see some obscure neighborbood in fucking queens of all places. Why would they? To see another trillion pizza places, delis, bodegas, bagel shops? Chinese food? Theres nothing remarkable there. So maybe your grandmas friends nephews sister in laws uncles adopted son's favorite niche restaurant is there - so fucking what? Its NYC theres a fuckload of other options that are likely to be equally good - even in OTHER parts of queens that arent so much of a hassle for someone to reach.
Theres a reason transportation sucks for those areas: because theres nothing worth seeing there. Its a generic grid of shitty houses and chinese dollar stores.
Btw of course every first time tourist should visit times square at least briefly you fucktard - thats exactly what its there for.
>>1188485
Queens tourist sites:
Rufus King Mansion
Hall of Science
Queens County Farm
Museum of Moving Image
Louis Armstrong house
Neighborhood in Queens:Addisleigh Park. Many black celebrities lived there. Landmarked.
>>1188512
There's a lot more than that (I live in Queens). But again, the vast majority of landmarks have trains directly to them. If you're visiting NYC, you will not run out of things to do sticking only to trains, I don't care how long you're staying.
>>1188512
Ok and how many of these locations are in the bumblefuck middle of nowhere parts of queens that dont have good public transportation?
My point still stands. The reason that those places have shit transportation is because those places are shit destinations. I never said queens was outright out of the question. I wouldnt say its must see at all though, more of a place to go if youre in NYC for a long time and want something off the beaten track.
>>1188542
try to go to jfk by subway
try to go to lga by subway
mta is a shit
>>1188485
>Theres nothing remarkable there.
As far as the typical tourist is concerned you're probably right. But that's not true for everyone. I would say a walk through Flushing or Jackson Heights around lunchtime would be a worthwhile use of part of a day for the more adventurous tourist, especially someone really into food. Not just restaurants (good restaurants are a dime a dozen in NYC), but street food as well. Basically if you watch Tony Bourdain on TV and think, "Damn, I wish I had his job" you should probably hit Queens for at least part of a day when you go to NYC.
>>1186684
My thought exactly
>>1188543
JFK is easy with the AirTrain, just has an extra cost. LaGuardia you will need a bus, but there are plenty and it's a free transfer. Then there are the endless flatrate taxi cabs. It's really not bad dude. If it was difficult to get to/from NYC airports the tourism scene wouldn't be so huge.
>>1188543
~$10 airtram transfer at jamaica gets you to JFK in a heartbeat. LGA is dogshit and always has been dogshit and there is nobody that will debate this fact. Its like saying water is wet. So i guess you can pat yourself on the back for that startling discovery.
>>1188447
take a look at this, pretty interesting comparisons
https://www.timeout.com/newyork/travel/infograph-the-nyc-subway-versus-subways-around-the-world
>>1188485
Or you could say those areas suck because there's no subway there.
And anyway, it's really only some fringe combinations of starting point/destination (which would apply to barely any tourists) that would be difficult).
Going within Manhattan is easy, going to Manhattan from Brooklyn/vice versa is easy, going from Western/Central Queens to Manhattan is easy, etc.
>>1188532
This is true
>>1188549
I would say Queens from LIC/Astoria all the way to Flushing is cool to see. Eastern Queens is pretty boring, though.
>>1188570
And how many people use the airports on a daily basis, besides airport employees (most of whom probably either drive or live close to the airports) and rich people (who can afford the cab fare)?
>>1186689
It shows the scale of the map. Idk what the actual outline is based on (maybe a third city) but the whole point of map frappe is to compare different areas with identical shapes.
>>1187360
Depend what train you're taking and what neighborhoods it goes through
>>1188665
Please for your own sake keep it that way. LGA is a festering shithole, I will happily pay more for a plane ticket to avoid it and keep using JFK. Its now under heavy construction because they are renovating it so its even worse and will stay unbearable for several years before *maybe* becoming an acceptable airport.
I spent about 30 minutes waiting for my luggage to arrive at the belt coming back from canada. And then literally waited 47 minutes for my ride to pick me up outside because the pickup area has no spot for cars to pull over. Meaning people stop in the middle of the road to let people in their car or just sit there waiting because they dont want to sit in the hellish traffic again while the police/traffic control do nothing. It was fucked. Getting to/from there by road is a nightmare right now.
>tfw i tell my gf not to use LGA because i will get fucked by airport traffic AND rushhour traffic trying to pick her up and she does it anyways to save money
>>1188532
King Mansion is near the Parsons-Archer J/Z station.

MTA jobs, entry level at least, aren't really that cozy.
Conductors have a starting salary of 23 dollars an hour, which probably can't even afford you a 1 bedroom apartment in NYC if you're single.
