Palomino, outside Tayrona... amazing beaches, best I saw in Colombia.. lots of decent accommodations, may places to eat/drink. Small village but high ratio of tourists, but still had a nice undeveloped vibe. good surf, not really any internet.
I loved it, would return again

Cartagena... crazy nightlife...sweltering heat.
Arrived in November in time for their independence day, which was like carnival. tons of women, and pros, drug dealers and hustlers. more expensive but still totally affordable... stayed a couple weeks, then needed to escape to somewhere relaxing. I dont recommend any beaches near here, all hassle and trash.

Old city is great, newer areas are meh, beaches (at least that I saw) are crap-tier, people very friendly, hottest place I have ever been in my life.

Minca, super fun little village outside Santa marta. Cloud forests and waterfalls, lots of hiking. Not really a place for late nights and partys, more nature and retreat,.. Higher in the mountains so its a nice reprive from the heat of the coast..

>>1158020, Monserrate was fun... Im not bitching, just trying to describe the locations... It was december and I was looking for sunshine, not damp, dirty cities.. granted I had a few really fun nights out with some Rolos..
>>
>>1157976
I'll tell you one thing OP, go to santa marta and chill the fuck out in the Dreamer's Hostel. It's literally the best hostel I've ever been and I've been in lots all over the world. I planned to stay for 2 days and stayed for a week literally just chilling there (and I was not the only one who got literally sucked into there).
>>
>>1158041
good to know, I actually contemplated staying there.. but opted for Masaya, which I thought was a more convenient location... beautiful hostal, but a bit of a sterile atmosphere.. When I return I will check out dreamer for sure..
>>
>>1157976
Go to Minca, near Tayrona and Santa Marta, stay at Casa Loma. So chill. Good food, amazing view down onto Santa Marta and the jungle

Hello guys,

Colombian who doesn't know his own goddamned country here. What cities/places did you visit, how did you get there and how much did you spend on average? I'd like to go to some foreigner-packed places to practice my English.
>>
>>1158071
>Bogota
>Cali
>Salento
>Medellin/Guatape
>Cartagena
>Santa Marta/Minca/Tayrona (and did Ciudad Perdida)
>San gil

Basically took busses all the time, I believe it wasnt too expensive besides the bus from Medellin to Cartagena which was quite expensive iirc.
>>
>>1158071
here do you live? i bet there are some good gringo hostels near by, where you could meet folks.. As a white dude with limited spanish, I guarantee you will get things way cheaper than me..
I love your country btw...
>>
>>1158073
care to elaborate a bit? what did you think of San Gil, Guatape? How was Cali compared to Medellin?...
>>
Any info on Medellin? Going to be working there for a month
>>
>>1157987
I was there for their independence day as well. My self and a fellow traveler were watching the parade from one of the old walls by the sea, there were locals all around us, a guy next to us was wearing an orange jumpsuit and had a carnival mask sitting on his head. After a while of watching the parade go by my fellow traveler pointed out to me that the dude next to us was concealing a large blade up his sleeve. He kept on playing with it to keep it hidden. True story, we left that day for Santa Marta & its surrounds.

If you're in the south check this out, prob easier to get at it from the Ecuador side but I was saying in Pasto so I took the bus down
>>
>>1161488
Depends where you fly into.... any of the major cities can sustain 7 days themselves. Add some day trips to surrounding areas and you're good...
Medellin, bogota or cartagena all have their merits, and all for different reasons. Where do you land and what do you like?
>>
>>1161488
Santa Marta and Parque Tayrona. Maybe consider doing the ciudad perdida hike, though that would be a stretch for a 7-day trip.

Medellin is just a big city with a ton of good nightlife, but you're not going to get laid with a local during a 7-day trip there, so who cares. The tourist attractions around are all kinda lame.

Cartagena is kind of cool in the old city but it's ubleievably hot and humid there, even well after dark. That puts a huge damper on things.

Bogota is ugly and cold.

Never been, but people I know from there are pretty great people, for whatever that is worth. Christmas lights are insane, if your timing matches up with that.

>>
>>1161972
Didn't mean to come off that way. But, I don't understand that other anon saying, "you're not going to get laid with a local during a 7-day trip there." There are hot women everywhere that are pretty down. If you don't do well in Medellin, you probably won't do well anywhere.

> If you don't do well in Medellin, you probably won't do well anywhere.

Medellin women are not as easy as in other places because they are more entitled about their looks, it makes them more materialistic.
>>
>>1162239 true
Barranquilla has beautiful women and not as many tourists... so they actually want to talk to you. If you speak Spanish that is.
>>
>>1161951
Congrats. Are you ridiculously good looking or do you speak Spanish fluently? Or are you going after poor girls?

I won't say it's impossible but your results are very different than normal. I lived there for a couple months this summer and the middle class girls are generally a bit wary of foreigners. There's also no one night stand culture in Colombia so you'll have to spend a couple dates at least.

I travelled all around the world and at least for me personally Medellin is one of the hardest places to get laid by decent girls. They're often stunning and sweet so totally worth the effort but they are rarely easy.
>>
>>1158013

thats a medic store you can buy wheelchair and some other stuff
>>
>>1162244
> Or are you going after poor girls?
or fugly.
>>
>>1162244
I second this. A lot of gringos go down there thinking they are God and they find out really quick that Colombian women see right through them and throw them away like trash. Women in Medellin are not like Thai girls who are ready to hookup with any white dude because they think they have money. Yo will actually prob kinda have to prove yourself as not being a dumb american. You can however get laid real quick with a prostitute, if that makes you feel like a man.
>>
>>1162262
Ah, thanks, though the mystery was sort of fun...
