What are the best cities in Europe? I'm want to go there for my first international vacation and I want to know what to see.

Barcelona is like the SF of Europe; highly romanticized but overrated. It's cool for like a weekend but then it gets old fast. I rather South of France or Madrid even.

Taste is subjective. A lot of the time it's just groupthink.

Not OP but i'll ask a question to hopefully revive this.

Which cities did you fall in love with when travelling Europe? Not just the big capital cities, hell maybe it wasn't even for the city, but instead the people you met there. But which city will you always look back on wishing you could live it over
>>
>>1152359
Travelling to the US & Australia made me fall in love with travelling Europe.
>>
>>1152231
Prague
>>1152359
Prague

seriously. it has something for everyone
>>
>>1152770
Care to explain why? I never visited neither the US nor Australia, just France, Scotland, Italy, Spain, Germany and Slovenia
>>
>>1152359
Genova. Big medieval centre (kinda smells like piss, though), great people, great food, great vibe. Beaches, mountains, bigger cities, everything is close by.
>>
>>1152264
Serious question, because I've had this argument with my gf and her sister for ages

Do you consider clubbing a legit attraction for travelers and tourists?
>>
God tier:

>Belgrade

Stay away from gypsies (though all European cities have a problem with them) and this is the safest city in Europe. Completely fell in love with it. The people are especially nice to foreigners, everyone speaks English, and there's something for everyone.

>Prague

Generally has everything for everyone, stay away from gypsies, etc.

>Most Eastern European/Balkan nations' capitals/major cities in general

Just stay away from Bulgaria and Albania, haven't been to Bosnia so I can't say.

Mid tier:

>Barcelona
>Vienna
>Most non-capital cities in western Europe fit this category

Shit tier:

>London
>Paris
>Berlin
>Venice
>Most Western/Northern capitals

Expensive, filled to the brim (and occasionally overflowing) with immigrants, and generally just shitty tourist traps.

Western Europe (aside from Spain and Portugal) just really aren't worth visiting anymore unless you're going to a smaller city.
>>
>>1152797
No.
>>
Lisbon is pretty nice and cheap. Portuguese cuisine is the GOAT European food.
>>
>>1152819
>Stay away from Bulgaria

Name 3 reasons please:
>>
Amsterdam was cool. Of course, it is big tourist trap, but in 100 meters away from the "tourist circle" it is really silent and cozy. Had a good time near old ship, new library. Uthrect was good too.
>>
>>1152797
Why not?

>brb hot chicks
>brb good music
>brb world famous DJs
>brb place to be

Remember 4chan is satire
>>
>>1152264
Wanted to add a few more also:

Worth it if you are loaded tier:
South of France

Underrated tier:
Madrid
Rome

Overrated but still worth a (brief) visit tier:
Barcelona
Milan

Meme tier:
Berlin

Haven't been yet:
Stockholm, Prague, Brussels, Athens, Zurich, Vienna, Moscow
>>
Prague
Berlin
Amsterdam
Vienna
Barcelona

Living in each of those cities for 2 months annually will guarantee a top notch lifestyle.
>>
>>1152989

>brb hot chicks
trash is not the usual tourist style

>brb good music
not even remotely

>brb world famous DJs
>as stated above, not even close to good music

>brb place to be
only if you're into clubbing

Budapest and Prague. Being from the United States (specifically Florida), it was so breathtakingly different from anything I've ever seen before. Also for specific spots, St. Peter's Cathedral. Pictures do not do it justice.
>>
>>1152797
Lol someone I know went to Greece for about 2-3 weeks and clubbed every single night. They would go to a club till 5am. Sleep until 3pm then repeat. Traveled to the other side of the world to go to night clubs. No other countries were seen
>>
>>1152231
As a yurofag, I can honestly tell you to stay away and spend your time somewhere more worthwhile. Unless you're looking to waste your time in some shitty nighclubs doing drugs, wandering around boring as fuck tours, and seeing hordes of shitskin immigrants (while also getting robbed by them), since that's what most tourists spend their time doing over here. Which, I suppose, could be something that you're looking for, but I'll assume you're not retarded.

If you absolutely must go to Europe, I'd recommend sticking to places that a regular tour guide wouldn't mention, since at least you won't have to crowd with other hapless wanderers like yourself. And don't make the mistake of spending your journey traveling from city to city, as that's probably the worst way to go about, unless you just want the generic "airport/hotel/museum" experience. Go see something a bit more interesting than the regular shit, like a WW2 concentration camp, Pripyat/Chernobyl NPP, cold war nuclear bunkers, volcanoes, those bits of Iceland that look like they're from a completely different planet, etc.

Oh yeah, and beware of gypsies. Seriously. Those fuckers are like niggers and spics combined, only worse. They've spread all over Europe like the pests that they are, and tourists are the prime target for their bullshit scams and robberies.
>>
Budapest Not mentionned!

Maybe it's a Belgian thing to visit budapest.
It's a cheap city on the rise, with a rave on every corner
>>
>>1153858
Belgian here, I agree. Also when I went there, I saw a lot of Belgians. Like, while visiting a museum, we crossed 3 other Belgian (Flemish) groups with guides.

Anyway Budapest highly recommended. Pretty architecture, relaxing hot baths, comfy bars, nice museums, nice restaurants, and all in all relatively cheap.
>>
>>1152231
Vienna
Prague
Lviv
Leipzig
Bern
Barcelona
Edinburgh
Triest
Turin
Budapest

And of course many various other cities are worth visiting but the ones listed here are definitely worth a special mention.

Agreed with eastern European/Balkan cities being god tier.
Sarajevo is a pretty interesting city but very small worth visiting for 2 days. Not like other western cities though except a lot of mosques and muslims native to the region and a lot of old ottoman influences.
>>
>>1152231
While not all the best things in Europe are in cities (norwegian fyords, vulcanoes in iceland, beaches in portugal and spain, mountains in the alps), If you are comming to see cities I have some suggestions.

Prague - Huge historic center, good food, cheap, hot girls.

Madrid - Capital of a former empire, awesome museums (Prado has the most impressive colection of old masters I've seen. Huge on dutch painters. Next to it you can see Guernica in the Queen Sofia Museum.) Great food.

Barcelona - Good museums, awesome art deco arquitecture.

Istambul - maybe now its not the best time to visit, but it still is a really impressive city. It has to much history for me to discribe here.

Amsterdam - There is no city like this in the world. Wherever you look its beautiful. Good museums, shit food. The fact that you can smoke weed everywhere makes for one of the most unique trips you can make.

Krakow - Nice historic center. Close (1h) to Auschwitz. Everyone should go there at least once in a lifetime.

Lisbon - Really beautiful hilly city. Great cheap food. Its a small world in a single city. The sea washed capital of a country of sailors.

Hamburg - Another awesome port city. Good to party
>>
>>1152819
Gotta agree Belgrade and Prague are god tier. Prague is for me the most beautiful city in Europe, I visited Paris, Barcelona, London, Vienna, but Prague is a perfect european city like one imagines it. And Belgrade, hell if you think of nightlife, it is by miles the best party city in Europe I experienced, even planing to move there next year.
>>

Avoid the sights by all means possible, I repeat: avoid the tourist sights by all means possible.

You might risk ending up with people like yourself.

Cities I recommend: Maastricht, Leuven, Namur, Edinborough, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Cluj-Napoca, Belgrade, Krakow, Tartu, etc etc

Go to the medium-sized cities, avoid the huge ones
>>
Istanbul is the best city in Europe for sights in my opinion, and the tourists stay away because they're afraid to get bombed
>>
>>1155059
The Hague is shit. Go to Rotterdam instead
>>
>>1155980
Riga is dead. The Old Town is ruined by the tourism industry, the prices are no longer significantly lower than the rest of EU to justify going there for cheap drinks, the infrastructure and beautification has suffered badly from budget cuts, and the general right-wing shift in Europe has turned a lot of people into insane isolationists.

What's left is cheap and awesome hostels, a few VERY hipstery, yet atmospheric semi-underground bars and how close it is to genuinely beautiful natural locations, but I don't think it's worth it anymore.

Toledo, Spain.

Hijacking since it's part of the general thread
I'm planning out a trip on the mediteranian coast for next summer using award miles.
Is 5 days enough to go to barcelona, road trip to Nice and enjoy a few pit stops along the way?
Are there any suggestions on where to go after Nice and Monaco on Sunday?

>wednesday night -> Thurs morning flight
>thursday -> lunch in barcelona, road trip to Nice,
>thursday night -> stay near st tropez. TBD
>friday morning -> finish trip to Nice, / visit Chemistry Department and comp sci departments (i'm a chemist so i thought it would be a nice way to meet locals)
>friday night -> go out in Nice,
>saturday -> checkout Monaco, go to a monaco gym
>saturday night -> party in monaco, or go to a show or casino, do a bar crawl idk
>sunday -> French countryside, ferries from Nice (open to suggestions)
>sunday night -> take it easy, (open to suggestions)
>monday -> flight from Nice airport

Budgeting:
mostly using credit card points but some realistic charges are

Fixed Costs
>airfare : card points -> 0
>car rental : card points -> 0
>hotel1 along the way ~ card points if marriot
>AirBnB 150 per night $450 -$200 amex trick = $250
>gym entrance = $50
Total = ~$500 ($300 if it works out)

Consumables:
>gasoline ~5USD/gal @ 32mpg and an exaggerated 868 miles --> $135
>tolls roads: $72
>food: ??? idk $100
>alcohol: assuming the worst ~$100 per night -> $200

>gym
Is this code for a gay bath or something?
>>
>>1157601
no. I'm an autist that just likes nice gyms. you can learn(imply) a lot about locals based on what lifts they do, what way they train.

back home in nyc:
>most people just do upper body,
>no back exercises except pullups and widegrip pulldowns
> no legs, maybe a halfsquat every once in a while

boston (BU gym):
> every 20 year old fuck with vibrams needs to do olympic lifting and drop the bar to make sure people saw them C&Jing 155lbs
> pajeets doing brosplits
> grills doing every variation on squats possible
> 5 rowing machines always in use

idk maybe I'll see some weird exercises. the french aren't known for physical strength.

Prague
Belgrade
Budapest
Zagreb
Milan

Prague
Paris
Madrid
Sardinia
Vienna
Brighton
Budapest
Amsterdam/Rotterdam
>>

Prague:

- Skydiving (they take you from your hotel to nearby place and you can skydive)
- Gun firing (Same as skydiving, can fire AK47s and shit, once in a lifetime experience)
- Red light districts
- Legal drugs

There have to be more, these are just the ones I know about. Prague is amazing.

Is this thread full of Serbian shills?
I had a quick look at Belgrade on Streetview and the city looks disgusting. Commieblocks everywhere, dirty streets even when compared to large Western Euro cities. And 20 something years after the war there's still a whole bunch of burnt down or semi-imploded buildings.

What the fuck am I missing here?
>>
>>1158305

Speak English so the whole world can understand you.

And come on, it's not like lying will help anyone. You know it's just a shithole people go to get drunk and fuck local whores, like any other Eastern European destination, except even cheaper.

From our perspective, it's a shithole full of annoying drunk tourists who fuck our local women.

They dont see it that way, most of them come from organised countries where everything that we are sick of is amazing to them. I don't think its a shithole, its my home.

Because you can pass a day in Monaco and in all Côte d'Azur cities, which can be REALLY expensive if you were to stay there.
I found Nice itself a little bit tourist trap.

Like what?

The only thing I've ever seen people praise is cheap whores, cheap drinks, cheap food (which is literally just meat in 3 variations) and cheap drugs.

>no mention of Lyon

Am I the only one that loved that city? So easy and pleasant to walk

I was going to say thanks, but I did an image search on Ferentari. I was thinking of going to Romania with the girlfriend, but Bucharest and Brasov, if anyone has recommendations. Also, sounds like we can take a train from Belgrade or Sofia from Bucharest if we want. Any ideas on this area would be appreciated anons.

You're still vague you dumb idiot. Anyone can just recommend anything because you didn't tell us about yourself. What are you like, what are your interests?

Here's a tip, open up google maps and just randomly click somewhere, then go there. It's just as meaningless a method as us giving you tips here.

You moron.
