Blue: Summer 2017 New York - Seattle
Red: Summer 2018 San Fransisco - Washington DC

I wouldn't want to drive the Gulf coast in the summertime, that section would be better in the spring.
>>
>>1146787
too hot or too wet?
>>
>>1146796
Both.
The humidity down there sucks during certain parts of the summer, not even mentioning the smell.
Most coastal states use reclaimed water in thier sprinkler systems, meaning you're gonna smell rotting fish, rotten eggs, and literal shit for miles.
In the spring its a lot more managable, not to mention a lot prettier.
>>
>>1146787
This, the south is miserable in summer. I visited my sister north of Houston last August and it was 102F and over 80% humidity. Nobody should plan a trip around weather like that.
>>
These are super solid routes. 9/10 only because south in the summer is savage
>>
>>1146777
i don't know how specifically you drew those lines but if it were me
>blue
skip michigan
don't miss yellowstone/teton

yeh they're more of an indication for which states I would visit

0/10

>Your entire holiday in America has to be completely dedicated to hiking and camping in uninteresting and boring swaths of woods.

How does upper Michigan defer from lower Michigan?
>>
>>1146985
>Having to go all the way up to fake Canada to hike in regular temperate forests
Just go to New York.

More woods, less people

He skipped both of them though
>>
>>1146992
When did i say his "entire" trip had to be "dedicated" to those states? I just said he shouldnt skip them.

Also if you think Maine is just "uninteresting woods" you're either retarded or a troll. Your choice.

Taking this trip 3 weeks from now with my GF and Dog.

Not pictured in this Map:

>Day trips to Napa and Willamette Valley.
>trips to Crater Lake, Olympic National park, The Grand Canyon and Moab
>visits to Small Cities like Santa Barbara and Boulder.

Currently debating whether to go to Monument valley over Moab and change the route through Utah.

Any Advice Travel Bros?

>Skipping the glory of Northern Arizona and missing the Grand Canyons so you can see the overpriced shithole that is Las Vegas

>not taking the 1 along the coast to LA

>skipping the Oregon Cost and Yellowstone

>actually driving through north Dakota

I Shig you
>>
>>1146777
I couldn't imagine doing this, I hate the 6 hours it takes for me to drive to NYC and even then I usually only do half of that.
>>
>>1147371
I hate Las Vegas too but my friends insist on it. How is the Oregon coast and what's wrong with ND?
>>
>>1146952
If you go up to Wisconsin and minnesota you should go farther north than just the twin cities you are missing what those states are really worth going to for
>>
Any Australians/Kiwis got any maps of trips they've done? I'm considering spending around about 8 months between them next year or the year after and it's such a huge task to map out a roadtrip of both.
>>
>>1147166

>Detroit
>Gary
>Montgomery
>Canada

Really hitting all the highlights of the US there, wouldn't change a thing
>>
>>1147166
Ugh, Toronto.
>>
>>1147370
I would suggest 20 over 90 if you can swing it.
>>
>>1148110
From Washington?

Cant find the 20
>>
>>1147166
It's like you're purposefully avoiding the Appalachian mountains to go on a poverty tour.
>>
>>1147370
Have family all along Hwy 101. Go slow, enjoy the coast, run over as many hippies as you can, and smell that redwood/ocean air.
>>
>>1147370
>>1149416
Also I'll be here to answer questions about sights to see along the 101 in California. Hell, I'll even shoot some PCH knowledge.
>>
>>1147633
NZ is fairly simple to travel through since it's long skinny and doesn't have much going on through most of it.

Depending on when you go and where you start from. If you want to do most of Nz I'd start from Auckland and if It's summer go to Coromandel to see some nz beach,
then go through Tauranga, to get to rotorua to see some volcanic stuff, then down to Taupo to see the giant lake and other touristy stuff. Then take one of the few roads South to get to Wellington.

Once there go to the south island and theres only really one main way to go down. So just go as south as you want seeing all the glaciers and alps. Queenstown is a good ski resort place, and Christchurch is a nice city or was haven't been post earthquake but worth checking out,

The big 'cities' are Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch all the rest are small compared to global standards.

Now I have a question to go along with my half assed road trip concept.

I have family in Bermuda and I want to fly to America and see some of it on the way to Bermuda.
I was thinking of starting in Houston and going along the coast to Miami or maybe cutting across country to NY. Any ideas?
>>
>>1147371
You were right until North Dakota. Parts of that state are beautiful, and there's really no better way to get from the midwest to the west.

What do you recommend? Iowa? Missouri? Nebraska? Get fucked

How's this trip look boys?

My plan is to drive the California coast, then hit Yosemite, Death Valley, the Mighty 5 in Utah, Grand Canyon, and Joshua Tree. Plus see some of LA/SF/Vegas/Phoenix. Anything missing?

>>1149557
Do they still have that idiot "people turning across oncoming traffic on the motorway have the right of way" law?

Navier stokes bro.

heres mine, starts next week.
>>
>>1150867
Both the trip and the screenshot of it are awful. If you must take the fastest route to mars okay, but if you want to see things other than poverty and the grand canyon, there's lots of changes you can make.

You could start with a major detour to NOLA and then ride to Houston, Dallas, Austin, Santa Fe, Grand Canyon, shoot up to Las Vegas, and then do you California stuff.

Or you could take a more direct route but just riding I-40 and at least enjoy Colorado on your way there.

Also, clean up your fucking sidebar.
