Hey!
Ill be going to Slovenia tomorrow because i decided to book a flight there on a whim. I was wondering if anybody has been there before and could tell me about places/things i should visit/see/enjoy etc that are less well known ?
Thanks in advance!

Are you into hiking?
There is plenty of beautiful places. The women are usually really good looking too. Buses are cheap so its no problem.
Idk check out bled. A lot of tourissts but triglav area is close and the hike i did was four days up and down but a lot of detours (started out in stara fuzina)
Ive only been in ljubljana and it was alright. Didnt party sadly.

I recommend starting small by walking to stara fuzina from bohinjska bistricia (step off at bohinjska bistricia). It's six kilometres of asphalt beside the river as you approach the mountains. Stay at a place called Rooms Pekovec Bohinj, quite cheap except the breakfast and really cool house. I left some stuff for free to pick up after the hike.
Afterwards i walked to Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih by the north side of lake Bohinj jezero, much prettier apparently. Then I slept in Dom Planika which was kinda expensive and not that great overall. However it has its uses if you wanna ho up triglav. Then I went up triglav and ended up in some mediocre hut. Went down to stara fuzina and pickdd up my things and took a bus to my upcoming train.
I can provide more information np but im on a trip with only my phone available.
I´ll be going to Istria (Croatia) in a few days. So far we´ve booked four nights in Istria. Now we´re not sure whether we should stay another two nights in croatia or if we should go to lake bled for that time instead. We would pass through Bled anyway on our trip home. Is Bled a nice place for two days to do some swimming and easy hiking?
Another option is to drive to Ljubljana for the remaining time. But I guess it can get quite hot there in august. So propably not the best time to do sightseeing...
Depends on your age and what you like
there are some damn nice caves in the west
people are nice but cold-ish
ask the locals about cool stuff
Ljubljana is cute as fuck
go to metelkova and make friends they'll probably tell you about tell you about cool stuff
but i think there's not much more other than good nature
and cerkno for skiing in winter
I've been there a couple of time.
1. Bled. Ok, the town is so-so. But there's lake Bled. Walk around it. Visit the castle. Hire a row boat. Swim.
2. Bohinj. See lake bled. It's bigger and less touristy. I wasn't that impressed with Slap Savica (fall) but the cable track up to Vogel offers fantastic hiking and great views.
3. Triglav national park. So many things to do! The hike from Kobarid to the Kozac waterfall and the hike along Mostnica are fantastic. The car route from Kranjka Gora to Bovec along the Vrsic Pass is spectacular too. Stop at the wooden chapel, lake Jasna and on the top of the mountain. And at the many lookouts.
4. Hike Vintgar gorge. Great gorge, good paths. Come early to avoid the (mainly Italian) crowds.
5. Visit the Postonja caves. Spectacular but expensive. Combine them with Predjama Castle. Beautiful karst caves. Stunning.
6. Visit the Skocjan caves. Beautiful walk. There's an underground river. Spectacular stuff.
7. Visit Piran. An old Venetian colony. A beautiful little town you can see in just one day. Which is why you should take longer and relax. Walk around. Eat fresh fish. Very pretty town. Feels Italian.
8. Visit Izola for the heck of it. It's ok, relaxing, pretty. Not as good as Piran imo, but worth it.
9. Hike the Sečovlje salt pans near Piran. Buy old-fashioned salt products. It's fascinating even though it doesn't sound like it.
10. Enjoy the city center of Ljubljana with it's lovely markets, waterside terraces, barok style buildings and nice squares.
