I'm an English guy living in France and I have two-three weeks in July with nothing really to do but relax, hike up hills and draw/paint/drink. Does anyone have any suggestions of somewhere in Europe (not France) for me to do this? I went to the Cinqa Terra last year and to some little villages further south, and whilst it was beautiful there were too many people which kind of spoilt the vibe.
Yes it's selfish to want to be a tourist where there are no other tourists but hey, that's what we all want right?
So far I can only recommend Slovenia (definitely lake bled) for a summer trip since I very rarely travel in July/August.
Any suggestions? Thank you /trv/ you are my greatest ally.
In return I will give my own suggestions of places I've visited outside the busy tourist season.

No, should I go anywhere in particular? I've only been to Andorra and Barcelona in that area.

If you just want to hike why not the Alps? Austria, Bavaria, Switzerland (more expensive though)
Just avoid the big places like Bad Reichenhall, etc. and go up mountains where only some cows give you company
If you dig Italy try with the northern parts of Veneto, you have tharmal water, hills, countryside, mountains, great wines and the seaside isn't too far either
