So I'm going on holiday to Amsterdam for my 21st in may. I've never been out of my country on a holiday so I'm a bit confused
If anyone has been reticently could give me a idea of what kind of prices things are beer food the likes
I'm there for five days hotel and travel is payed for i just need spending money
Dutch here. Beer is somewhere between 2 and 5 euros depending on venue. With classic backwater café going as low as 1,50.
Food?, if u cook it yourself u can have meat and veggies for less then 5. Restaurants will cozt 10-20 for a disappointing meal. Dutch people only eat out occasionally instead of several times a week /day like for example Asians and South Americans. This makes the prices quite high even for Dutch that earn quite good
Where do you live anon? Food is cheap if you buy in the supermarket.

If u want to decrease those costs do the following:
For breakfast and lunch go to a supermarket and buy some bread, veggies, fruit whatever prefer and condiments (look carefully most supermarkets also sell sausage cheese jam etc in mini packages ((3slices, 1 little container of spread ))) and some fresh coffee from a random coffeeshop (the non weed one, even tho the weed ones sell good coffee aswell...) and eat it in a park or on a bench in the city or walking (most Dutch working do this aswell)
Now for cheap dinner we also have allot of street food but it's presented different then in allot of other countries. They won't be like stalls in a market area but more like little restaurants with very few if any settings where u can get a (most of the unhealthy) delicious meal for 5-8 euros. They mostly sell fries/chips doner kebab (try a kapsalon (barbershop is the literal translation) it's 2000kcal in 1 awesome fatty bucket of fries meat salad and sauce). Tldr buy breakfast and lunch in supermarket and dinner in semi junkfood restaurants

I see ur British now. Holland is cheaper then the UK just budget like u would spend in the UK for a day without cooking and change the pound sign to a euro sign in ur head

Also even tho we look preoccupied we are really friendly and all more then capable to converse in English. If u want to know anything just ask someone on the street. I reckon u can spot the difference between an normal person and a geezer, age is no problem either even my 60+ year old parent can tell u where everything, is and where to find cheap good food in fluent English and they are are a butcher and a cleaner by trade
