Could save 50% if I book a round trip with a layover in Istanbul. Is the city safe for an American and should I airbnb or stay at a hotel for the night?

It's safe. Enjoy..
>>
it is as safe as US, don't worry. Book an hostel or hotel around Besiktas area. You will like it.
>>
>>1266345
>it's safe

It's not that safe, but it's fine. Watch your back, if you are alone avoid touts at all costs. It's an awesome city and it's worth seeing so definitely go for it, just don't think there aren't some threats here and there in Istanbul.

Getting into Denver on Friday night, will be there until late Wednesday.

Already have 4th of July booked at Red Rock.

That means i have Sat-Tues to do whatever you guys can recommend me.

Notes:
>I'll be staying in the North Capitol Hill/5 Points area. Any info on what the area is like?
>I will have a rental car to go on day trips
>Will be with girlfriend
>We are both in shape and active, outdoorsy stuff interests us.
>I like going to museums, is there anything cool in the area that wont take a whole day? (shes not as into them)

Thanks a lot!

Coors tour is more fun than it should be. Also a nice mineral museum in golden.
NEderland is worth a day.
Bri g camping gear and hit brainard lake for a night. See moose up close.
Great science museum
Bike around downtown, amzing bike city.

16th street mall is pretty cool. Other than that, it's pretty much my least favorite city in Colorado. You should take day trips to Boulder and even farther if you can.
>>
I am also planning a road trip out to Denver this weekend, driving my own car from Nashville.
Going by myself and I'm in between jobs so my schedule is wide open, I could rough it as much as I want.

Where should I park if I want to walk around the city? Also where can I park if I want to sleep in my car?
What are some all-day things that would be fun solo?

I wanna know why I barely see travel brochures featuring the Philippines, and why Philippines have one of the lowest foreign tourist incidences in the region

Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, even Myanmar seem to be commonly advertised and seen as popular destinations in South East Asia, but for the Philippines? Not so much.

There are very few flight-hotel packages of the Philippines available in my country contrary to its neighbors.

What's the reason? It's probably among the most beautiful and friendliest places in the world. Is it because of the Jihadist problem in the South(that shouldn't affect anyone North)?

lack of infrastructure. It has only been pushing it's tourism the last few years. Prior to that tourism mainly consisted of military vets (know the place through the service), people with Filipina wives, and sex tourists, and often you can wrap all 3 of those up in one person. People started to take more interest when Thailand ess couping again in 2014, but Thailand seems to be on the rebound, and interest waining in the Phillipines again
>>
>>1257777
it used to be the most popular tourist destination in the area until 40-30 years ago though
>>
>>1257778
Even more recent than that. But it lost a lot of economy, and popular mindshare, when US Naval Base Subic Bay, and Clark USAF Base, closed down in 1992. The US's largest overseas bases. Hence the military dudes with Filipina wives being the only ones who remembered the place, outside of the sex tourists

I'm going to Berlin tomorrow for a couple days and the plan is to go clubbing as much as possible. I'm from America and have been clubbing in the states enough times to know how it works but is it significantly different in Berlin? I don't speak any German, but I don't know how common it is for Germans to speak English.
I'm also really interested in going to a sex club while I'm there, but I don't have anything to wear and again, worried about the language barrier.

In general, advice for a foreigner clubbing in Berlin?

Hello,
I will travel to Aveyron/France next Thursday to start an internship. I will have 5 days of work and then 2 free days every week, and I'd be happy if some locals or people who have been there could give me recommendations on what to do with my free time.

Is going to Côte d'Azur worth it or is it just super expensive?

I've lived in Nice. Côte d'Azur is extremely expensive and packed with tourists, but beautiful as well. I wouldn't visit it first, visiting Auvergne and the Pyrénées is probably less expensive, closer and less packed with tourists.

Some anon gave great recommendations on the area in two other threads btw

Merci

Im going to be spending the next month outside Stuttgart, any recommendations? good sights? how are the women? Any cool military themed museums nearby?

I've also heard that most places dont accept credit cards, or more specifically, american credit cards. Is this true or just a meme?

Also, Germany General. The other thread is full of Berlin dance clubs.

>I've also heard that most places dont accept credit cards, or more specifically, american credit cards. Is this true or just a meme?
I think they specifically mean American Express cards. This would make sense, as Visa & MasterCard have far more reach & ubiquity.
>>
>>1265692
>>1265766
No, most places dont accept credit cards. Bank card or, even better, cash are preferable.
The black forest is close, so are Heidelberg and Bavaria. Hohenzollern castle should also be interesting, but Ive never been there.

Stuttgart is not a very interesting town in my opinion though.
>>
>>1265857
>most places dont accept credit cards.
bullshit. some places don't accept American Express because their fees are very high but that's it.

It's 12 people. They're going to use it for marketing etc... in the future and make a killing. They only pay out a relatively small amount and in return if they have a good advertising department they can use it in the future.

im looking to transfer my current job to a new branch opening next year in Portland.

Should I do it?
I could be getting upward of a $5/hr raise

I hear about the steroid level of gentrification the city is undergoing causing rent to skyrocket entirely out of control. (ive heard as much as rent going up $200 extra per month upon renewal)

gentrification aside, Is Portland still okay to move to?

living in downtown is shit, and most likely more expensive than where you live. Look up the metro/light rail and fight some place outside of portland to live

I don't know where you live now but if it's somewhere cheap that 5 bucks won't mean shit when rent is double what you pay now (or triple).

I was born and raised here so it's my natural instinct to tell you to fuck of we're full, which we are. However you've got to do what's right for yourself. Just be ready for gridlock traffic, crumpling infastrucure, hyper-inflated housing prices, and nausea inducing generic hipster culture. This city ain't what it used to be.

Hi all, I am Australian born with Scottish parents and I plan on moving to Amsterdam.

I am sick of the monotonous lifestyle i'm living, I work on the mines / gas plants and I am completely over slaving away for the cash.

I plan on moving over to the EU before the end of the year.

If you are from Holland or have experience living there, could you please let me know of good areas to live in / close to the town.

I will have roughly 20 - 30,000 Euros to play with. thanks!

Why do you want to go to Amsterdam out of all the places?
Have you ever been there?
Don't tell me you plan on moving to a place and country you have never visited but
>LOL WEED
is all you know.
How good are your language skills?
How do you plan on moving there? Where will you stay?
I hope you know that Europe doesn't just take any foreigner in just because people feel like moving there. If you won't have a job you will get kicked out of the country - just like any other European country.
So what's your plan exactly? Doesn't sound like you know what you are doing at all.
>>
>>1266594

I visited Amsterdam years ago, I need a change from Australia, the life style is more suited to how i want to live.

that's why I'm asking for good places to live, I'm not completely sure of the areas.

Like I said, I work on the mine / gas plants, I'm hoping to get work as a scaffolder
>>
>>1266594
just to expand on that

"So what's your plan exactly"

I already said in my op, "I am sick of the monotonous lifestyle i'm living, I work on the mines / gas plants and I am completely over slaving away for the cash."

I do have a car, but I go to school in Boston about 700 miles from home. And a student doesn't really need a car in Boston because public transportation is stout. So I've flown to and from school mostly. But when I came home this summer I rented a car, and got hit with fees out my ass.

I probably won't feel jolly until I wake up in Mexico, TBQH.

I was in the same situation, didn't get excited before my first oversea trip alone. Just annoyed because of the 12 hour fight. But it got better as soon as I entered my couchsurfer's house.

I often feel nothing before, most of the during, and after

I want to take a road trip with a couple of my friends along the Western US - starting from Arizona, going through California and Oregon, and ending in Seattle. I suggested the idea of an RV and everyone seemed to think it would be a good idea, but nobody really knows what we need for it. Passes? Restrictions? Suggestions? Any help would be appreciated as none of us have done anything similar before.

Anyone ever travel to another country for the holidays, specifically Halloween?

This was totally unintentional, but the last time I traveled was around Christmas time, and I quite liked it because the place was far less crazy about the holiday than western countries.

>>1266055
>I'm looking for somewhere cool to get dressed up and party, preferably in Asia. Ideas?
I don't know why, but for some reason costume parties seem to be a thing in the Central district in Hong Kong. You could walk down the street and start seeing people in costume. And the Stanley market sells costumes, and it was pretty much the majority of what they sold.
>>
>>1266055
I firmly believe that Tokyo is the best place in the world to celebrate Halloween and its really only been a thing in Tokyo for less than a decade. Its grown so much and has become awesome.
>>
>>1266055
>Halloween
An american holiday for sure. But in the last decade, and I mean really that recent and no older, there are some tourist-savvy small towns that are turning the night before their religious All Saint's Day into something to draw people in. Very rightly so, it has always been seen as something solemn and symbolic of lost loved ones souls, not as a fun thing to celebrate absorbed pagan rituals that scares people.
But, emulating americans and tourism are big desires overseas. Christians only. I wouldn't look for great fun in Asia whatsoever. Pick another holiday.
