It seems like everyone these days is backpacking through Central Asia or Mongolia
What do you guys think will be the next popular backpacking location? Or what locations are still relatively untouched by todays backpackers that are worth going to before they get popular?
I wouldn't say Central Asia is that popular, it's enigmatic and people are curious about it. It's obviously opening up a bit more though...
Africa
For me as a european, i see iran and colombia as new destinations, where until now europeans did not dare to go

Doubt it, far too expensive.
I'm looking for Wisconsin people. Me and some buds (age range 18-23) want to go on a road trip in November, but don't know what to see. We're pretty indoorsy, so cool things to do that are not just cool nature things is what I'm looking for.
>>1268159
>Wisconsin
>doesn't like nature
>going in November
Seems like a pretty bad idea m8. I'd recommend some city stuff in Madison and Milwaukee but half your group can't even legally drink.
What are you into? Are you looking for museums? Architecture? Touristy stuff?

Get a kringle and culvers and then go home city boy
Lacrosse is an awesome friendly small town I recommend
Hey /trv/
Been studying in Florence for about a week now, got about three weeks left before I have to leave and I've had a good time so far, only complaint is the run-down apartments that the school put us up in. Anyway, we were told that there are 500 reported pick-pocketing incidents in Florence a day, so that doesn't even include unreported incidents. My question is if I manage to notice that I'm being pick-pocketed in the act and the guy takes off, I get after and catch up with him what am I supposed to do? I'm completely clueless to the laws here in Italy that might prohibit me from getting into a fight to get my wallet back.
So what should I do if I get pick-pocketed here?
>>1267983
when a gypsy pickpockets you, just let them do it
they'll run towards a more senior gypsy with a knife in case of trouble
>>1267983
Just do everything you can to not get mugged, because if you do get pickpocketed >>1268040
is most likely right, they will run to someone who can and will hurt you, not kill, but hurt
So be smart and you'll never be in that situation, ex. don't act touristy, don't wear nice shit, put money and shit in socks, wallet by dick, that's what I do every time I go near gypsys
also a little fun tip is to fill your pockets with condoms or something funny, so when they reach into your pockets they will only get shit
>>1267983
as long as they're dirty gypsie scum and as long you don't kill/permanently injure them, you can do whatever you want to the one you see pickpocketing you. Police won't do shit, because everyone here hates those motherfuckers, just explain them what happened. Be careful though because what >>1268040 says it's true.
The best advice I can give you is to be smart: don't keep your wallet in you rear pockets, don't bring important documents with you, be careful when you're in the middle of the crowd, and if a group of gyppos approach you asking for money or trying to sell things, tell them to fuck off and go far from them asap.
The 500 reported pickpocketing a day seems a bit exaggerate to me btw. I hope my post doesn't trigger any moralfag, I absolutely have no problem with any race/ethnicity/nationality in the world, but hate towards gyppos is one of the few things that really unites every european.
Not seeing any South America threads, anyone have advice for Colombia? Currently in Cali after spending a month in Ecuador so I've seen a bit of the general SA culture. Planning on hitting Medellin and Bogota with some of the small cities in between as I have about two weeks left. What are the best tips for maximum enjoyment of the country?
And yes I know, I'm going to get knifed in the streets and have everything stolen etc etc .
this guy spent several months there in colombia earlier this year. lots of vids with some info. girl in this vid certainly worth cking out

there is this hill in cali where only poor people live but they appearently have the best view over the city.
Leave your expensive clothes and items at home and go there, take a look at the city
What do you think it the must see stuff on what is considered to be the best American highway?

>best american highway
>highway 1 leaves california

its ok. atm isnt most of it shut down cuz it got buried in landslides and shit?
either way:
-Mt Ranier nat park: Gorgeous, need a pass
-Mt St Helens
-Olympia nat park: out of the way, by about 3 hours so your choice, Olympia itself was alright
-Portland: I guess, its there
-Wildlife Safari: drive through zoo enclosure in Winston Oregon. best $20 I ever spent.
-Crater Lake: out of the way but cool
-Redwood national park, no pass needed, you can just fucking park alongside the road and hike.
-Muir Woods: its ok, dont go unless you have a park pass already, its not worth single visit admission
Oz guy here currently planning a US trip with m8s. One of the cities we want to visit is Austin. Would it be best to stay in city center and just bike around? And we're also planning on benders will it be easy to find certain things there to keep us up all night and so on?
It's not that big of a city so sure, city center should work, and just bike around.
6th street is the crazy tourist drinking bender street. Lots of other less crazy drinking streets around town as well.
Have fun and don't brings drugs into Texas.
>>1267714
I would stay in the city center. Tons of hotels downtown I frequent the la quinta on 10th. Walking distance from 6th street and very cheap for a hotel downtown.
Definitely check out 6th street and float some nearby rivers. However bars close at 2am here.
>>1267714
Do you guys know the legal drinking age in the US is 21, not 18?
Britfag here.
Me and my mate came up with the idea of taking short one night trips abroad as opposed to a 'normal holiday ' mainly to shoot some photography.
Can anyone spot a flaw in the plan if we stick to budget airlines and hostels??
Also any recommendations for places easily accessible from the uk would be appreciated.
Fuck off faggot
this is now an alpaca thread

Works fine if you can get to the destination on a direct flight and it's in Europe.

typical haha
I remember in the middle order citties there were many older chinese who just couldn't fathom the modern features of the city
and they all complained it was too crowded, but shit grandma you had 7 kids what did you expect would happen
often they would say "too many people" in frustration at queues
chinese threw so much money at fountains, statues and anything else that looked like it might be lucky
often places had signs "no money throwing", and often the sign would be half burried in jiao
What's the price range of things on the greek islands?
Going in a week. Staying for two.
Paros, Naxos and Milos.
Pretty damn cheap as far as Im aware.
There are obvious differences for different kinds of food and acommodation but they start pretty low, especially if you want to couchsurf.
Getting from island to island is super cheap if you chose the slower ships (gets you to another island for a couple euros but takes maybe twice as long as a speedboat for twice the money).
Overall great places to see nature-, culture-, people- and foodwise.

All accomodation and transport is already arranged. But if possible I'd like to live relatively cheaply since it's a two week vacation. I assume prices go up during July, tho.
Anyone here ever had laover in Moscow for less than 24 hours and was able to get transit visa and visit the city in the meantime?
I'm flying to Beijing in a month and I have 14 hours layover in SVO. I wanted to apply for transit visa and visit at least one part of the city, but I've heard they might require for me to stay over 24 hours to get this visa.
Anyone had this problem before? I don't want to spend money on an application they will automaticaly decline.
Similar scenario for me. So it turns out my outgoing and return flight will have a 10 hour and 20 hour layover in New Delhi respectively.
I was wondering whether I could get a transit visa, then just quickly leave the airport, catch a shuttle/bus and then explore Poo Capital of the World during this time?
It seemed to me direct flights through SVO did not need transit visa when i was talking to some dutch girls going to Thailand.... however everything i have read says you need it.
Dont fuck around with Russia, get the visa you need and do proper research. A transit visa may only allow you to be in the airport and not actually travel about the city.
Also SVO is a shitttttt airport, good luck. I have 3 year tourist visa and i travel there quite a bit as my entry hub before connecting, and i hate it every time. Have fun!
Alguien tendrá algún contacto de quien pague por casarse con una cubana?
Burger here. Going to Tuscany and Florence with my wife next month. We wanted to rent vespas, never drivin them though. Is it that hard to get the hang of?
>>1267294
Not hard at all, if you can ride a boke you can vespa.
Good place to visit with the wife, be sure to eat her ass there.
Hey /trv/ I'm going to Bangkok in early September and wanted to do a 3-4 day trip to Krabi or Phuket. I've been to both albeit a long time ago and therefore have no opinion on either. Is there any major difference in terms of beach quality, and things to do outside of lounging on the beach and going to bars? I'd prefer a place that offers more scenic and adventurous activities away from the beach. I'm not a big partier so that's not important to me.
In that case, go for Krabi - and Ao Nang specifically. There's a ton to do if you get bored of beach/snorkeling/day trips. There are a bunch of nice restaurants/quiet bars around as well, at least one with live music most of the evenings.
Unless you go to the south western end of Phuket near Kata beach, which is quite laid back, roghly 30-40 min to town.
>Krabi or Phuket?
My ass
So I fucked up and was too focused on proximity that I booked a really shit hotel. I figured I might as well grin and bear it and deal with the conditions since everywhere else is booked at this point. (I'm leaving for Anime Expo). Any clue on what I should bring so I don't get my shit fucked up by shady asian staff and insects?
A gun
