What is the point in travelling if you are a wagecuck? I get 2 weeks a year that cannot be taken in a row. That means I would get maybe 3 days where im not actively traveling to or from a destination. Its more relaxing to stay home and treat yourself to a whore and a good meal.

don't you have a country close by you could fly to in 2 hours? and if there is a small airport nearby that can fly to that country you don't have to spend 4 hours going through customs. There are also road trips where the transit is part of the fun, just drive 3-4 hours a day and see what you come across. I can relate though, i hate tying myself down to a job in the usa because the vacation here is a joke, it's more of a time to catch your breath.

>What is the point in travelling if you are a wagecuck?
Depends what you define as traveling. Just because you aren't going to Singapore doesn't mean you aren't traveling.

>I get 2 weeks a year that cannot be taken in a row.
Says who? Oh are you one of those people who tells someone a week or two before they want to take a 2 week vacation that they want it? Seriously not much of an issue if you give month or two planning for 90% of the imte.

>that means I would get maybe 3 days where im not actively traveling to or from a destination.
direct flights, they cost a bit more but paying to save time. Traveling on weekends is also a way to save time/money. Is there no close destination you would like to go? Are you one of those "I have to go somewhere niche to even think of having a good time!"

>Its more relaxing to stay home and treat yourself to a whore and a good meal.

I unhironically can't understand how amerifats can travel, given they have so few days of vacation during the year. Don't you go crazy after a while? I mean I get almost an entire month (august) of summer holiday plus all the random holidays during the year (christmas, easter, etc.) it's another month.

Is it worth it to buy train tickets within Italy in advance using this website? I'm going to Italy in a week, and I wonder if the prices at the rail stations would end up being higher.

Also should I be worried about trains being full/running out of tickets?
10 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
it's only worth for high speed trains, if you find offers get them because at the station is always full price. regional trains' fare are calculated on kms so not really worth it.

>trains being full

depends, going from the city to the beach in summer they might be, the first and the last train especially, if you want to get those ones maybe book the ticket, if you are more flexible then don't.
>>
>>1270584
Thanks, that was helpful.

Check also the other Train company, ITALO
Sometimes the prices are a bit cheaper, especially for the main cities

Hello all,

Planning my first solo trip to Europe.

3 days in Brussels/Amsterdam
3 days in Hamburg
4 days in Berlin
3 days in Munich for Oktoberfest
3 days in Paris

USA-->Europe flight $300
RailEurope Select Pass 3 Country $300
Lodging ~$700
Return flight will be spent using miles that I never use $0
Food $500
Tourism $500

Estimating the total cost of the trip to be $2,000.00 to $2,500.00

Is that realistic tourism and food calculation?

Using buses instead of train will make you save a lot of money, check out goeuro.com.

>Can I knock a few nights off for lodging if I take overnight train rides places?
Yes

>Is it dangerous to fall asleep on the train? (What can I do to protect myself from being robbed?)
Carry only one backpack, sleep on it or carry it extremely close to you (between the wall and you for instance).
Put your valuables at the bottom of the bag or somewhere that cannot be accessed easily for a thief.

Woah...Great link. $30 from Berlin to Munich is fantastic.

Also, I just checked and I have about 120,000 miles I can use... so that knocks a huge chunk cash!

Hey, lost a bet with my wife, have to take her to Vegas. She wants to go to some nice places to eat, see a couple of shows. I want to have hot sex in nice hotel rooms and take her to a couple of dark bars to dance and play guess-where-my-hands-are-going.

So, advice on vegas for good places to eat, nice shows, and bars for dancing and semipublic groping?

Anywhere south of the venetian and north of Mandalay bay
>>

Shit advice. The Wynn is NORTH of the Venetian. Wynn/Encore have the best places to eat, the best show (Le Reve), and the best club in the city.
Also, the Wynn buffet is absolutely godlike. By far the best buffet I've ever been to.

You should dress better. Your "gf" can lose her privileges FOREVER when nonrevs break rules, argue with flight personnel or even reveal they are flying nonrev. Until the past decade, most airlines didn't relax dress code for their nonrevs whatsoevr...sneakers were prohibited, stockings for women, long sleeve and other rules were quite detailed. It may seem silly to you not to be comfortable or that you would have to dress better than people who are paying $12k for their ticket but that's the way it has always been so that you don't offend their passengers.

I'm a 4time nonrev, both grandfathers were Delta pilots with hire dates in the 1940s when their airline was purchased by Delta (Chicago and Southern), giving me seniority at the top of the list when there was a list. Before 9/11, Delta wasn't the load factor it is today, and I used to be not have to worry about ATL connections if I was crafty. After that, it was near impossible, and though open ended travel is the main draw, getting the occasional 1st class is nice too, but is rare with the upgrade lists and certain business commuter routes.

At the same time, my father was management with a certain unnamed but no longer existing airline, and at the glory decades of that, his seniority and class allowed travel that was before passengers if I was traveling with him. I grew up with some sensational "just for the day" kind of travel whimsy, and I most of my school years I was absent the maximum of 30days in the calendar year to enjoy travel that was purely for pleasure. There would be cities like New Orleans, Mexico City, San Francisco, DC, which had good transport or things to do that a breakfast flight, empty suitcase for shopping, lunch or museums plans made the day, and a dinner and a movie.

Going to Bulgarias capital Sofia for new years eve this year. Will stay there for 4 days.

Any tips and must DOs?

- Is it worth going to Plovdiv in winter
- How about Lake Pancharevo? How do I get there?
- Is it worth going to Vitosha Mountain for some winter hiking? Where should I go there and how do I get there?

Where should I spent new years eve for fireworks and stuff?

Thx!

BG anon from that thread

>- Is it worth going to Plovdiv in winter
No.

>- How about Lake Pancharevo? How do I get there?

Yes. Huge fan of it and I'm a regular there.

Bus 1, bus 3 or bus 5 from Geo Milev bus station
42.678025, 23.370522 geographic coordinates

>- Is it worth going to Vitosha Mountain for some winter hiking? Where should I go there and how do I get there?

Yes. I would recommend Borovets. It's a ski-resort an hour away from Sofia.
Bus 66 if they don't change shit around for winter. Bus stop: 42.658476, 23.328256 (for Vitosha).

>Where should I spent new years eve for fireworks and stuff?
Vitosha, Kopitoto area. Or probably 1 of the several sky bars.

People often say that Sri Lanka is more similar to SEA than to India, or if not, then it's an interesting mix of the two regions (because of their fanatical Buddhism, mainly)
I've never been to India so I won't comment, but I liked Lanka.

At what age should stop staying in hostels?

I have a trip coming up in September, going to visit some friends in France and Finland. In between ill make a few stops and see some cities. Thing is I'm 26. I traveled Europe back when I was 19 and 23. I felt a little old for some places even when I was 23. This time around I fear might be over the cusp. What do? I don't want to be seen as the creepy old guy trying to hook up with 18 year olds, I still want to do fun hostel shit though.

I wouldn't even worry about it. I see dudes in their fifties in hostels all the time and they're always fun to talk to. You're far from the cusp, my guy.

I've felt old at 26 and young at 30 in hostels. Depends on hostel and country. Stop caring that much.

*Info on prostitution*
Please try to refrain from asking questions about prostitution.
Japan's sex industry is almost completely inaccessible to foreigners who do not speak Japanese.
What is available can generally be found in the following links

*Note about the JR Pass*
Many people ask about whether or not the JR Rail Pass is worth it. It depends on your itinerary.

Plug your itinerary into Hyperdia to determine ticket costs, then compare to the below JR Pass options:
>7 day Pass: 29,110Â¥
>14 day Pass: 46,390Â¥
>21 day Pass: 59,350Â¥

Please check the /trv/ sticky before asking questions. It's filled with links to great resources, many of them specific to Japan travel.

So i've been exploring the second hand marketplace for clothes but i'm looking for a couple of specific things when i go in october.

Firstly, anybody know of neighborhoods with a good used videogame selection? Looking for old consoles and the like but would like to avoid Akiba tourist traps as much as possible.

Also interested in Denim.

what makes you think Akiba is a tourist trap? Just because there are a lot of tourists there? It's primarily geared towards Japanese Otaku, not tourists

Well, my post is more about why people don't make threads about their trips, talking about what they did, liked and hated about the places they visit, with some pictures too. I think it would be interesting for other people to read, and also informative if someone is planning the same trip.

Doing Mexico-Tanzania-Zambia-Ethiopia-Egypt-India now. Currently in CDMX. I'll probably make a thread about it when I'm done, which will be in January.

A lot of people contribute to 'general' threads. I lived in New Delhi for a year and a half and occasionally make India general threads.

I made this exact same thread a couple times before I actually went to SEA. I had the same image of it you did, OP. Now that I've been (Vietnam, Indonesia, Sri Lanka) here's my response to you:
>bad image
That's just Thailand, tho. Everyone thinks it's cool to go to Burma or Vietnam. Amongst the traveling community as a whole, I suppose you might get judged for lack of imagination, or as a 20something who just wants to party. It's a shame because there's a lot of room for independent, original travel in these countries.
>attractions include: jungle, jungle, jungle
you know that's not true; I won't bother refuting it. But jesus, it would be nice if there were that much unspoiled rainforest.
>chock full of australians and generally the cancer of the backpacking world
yes you are right about that. If that is your reason for avoiding SEA, It's a valid one.
>no possible to talk with locals in their native language
English is more widespread than you think. And Indonesian is one of the easiest non-IE languages to learn.
>have to pay for visa
Welcome to the world outside Europe.

SEA has something for everyone; if you can tolerate the heat and the Aussies it's worth the trouble to go there at least once.
>>

It's cheap, has nice weather, alot of beautiful nature, awsome historical sights, nice locals.

Also they are quite tolerant, the buddist religion does not have many weird rules like hating gay people or seein women as property (don't think this applies to most of indonesia)
>>
The food is so good, that's reason enough for me all by itself. Imagine eating at restaurants 3 meals a day and not even having to think about cost.
