In the work place, a lot. On the bright side, that means they don't need to deal with Japan's workplace culture.

So. It has been growing in me for few years already. I want to go for a trip before i will be rooted by a job and family duties.

I am finishing my college soon, and i started thinking about traveling through Europe.

My main problem is that i live in Poland, so i am kinda poor guy. (Currently my monthly income is ~170 EUR, will increase after graduation with full time job tho, but it wouldn't be more like 450EUR/m)

So is Hitchhiking a thing in these years? Will i ne able to travel through Eu by minimizing costs to food mostly?

My route would be long, but since i wouldn't have any time limitation i would like to see as much as i can.

This is my travel plan, but mustn't be strict to it. https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=zXMDnphfbbEk.ka2fvhbaJgq4&usp=sharing

Which places are worthy/not worthy to go, and what to expect for this journey?
I never had such a long way before, but if i wouldn't do it now, i would probably never do.

Any general advices highly appreciated. Also if you know the way to get some additional funds for or during the trip would be awesome.

How much did you save up?

People do still hitchike, at least i met a bunch on my 3week trip last summer. Hitchiking itself also went well untill we got in the balkan where everyone is a taxi driver (it could have had something to do with us being 3 )
So i guess you'll be allright hitching ( if you don't look too filthy)

additional funds: look for seasonal harvest jobs like the yearly grape pickings in France. But i guess you can pick oranges in Spain too, idk.

Don't minimize food costs, eat some of the good shit wherever you are, from time to time. Minimize on sleeping costs (couchsurf, airbnb, wildcamping, squatting, workaway etc

If you have a talent, good enough to at least impress someone more than your mom, use it and try to sell/busk
>>
>>1061458
I see now that you have alot of cities as destinations, yea i would advice you to try and get as many couchsurfing as possible

I WANNA KNOW WHERE ITS GOING ON

I NEED TO BE AT THE CULTURAL EPICENTRE
>>
If you're talking about effect on Western culture and history then it's probably the San Jose to Seattle corridor and it's probably mostly over due to real estate prices.

If you are talking about the rest of the world, I've been hearing low but consistent murmuring about Africa. The sub-Saharan pockets with less AIDS and corruption.

If I were an artist type I'd definitely slum it in Instanbul for an extended while. I was impressed earlier this year.

So, I'm kinda unhappy with where I'm at. This is the plan :

Stay some months in China/Japan, funding myself as an actor/model/english teacher/even stripper if it pays well. I have experience in acting, but none in other areas.

I am white (black hair), good looking and ripped [5'9 :( ].

Please give me tips and evaluations on how long can I last there.

Have fun mocking my naiveté.

>Have fun mocking my naiveté

Oh, I will. If you are uneducated, you can't teach English in Japan. You need a bachelor's degree to do that. If you are only 5'9, you can't model. Also, being "ripped" will not get you a job as a model in Japan. You need to be tall and slim with a handsome face, not a stocky, muscular little fire plug.

You might have better luck in China, no idea, but you'll get no where in Japan.

Your insecurity says otherwise. Why don't you stop lying to yourself, and the internets? Have you researched any of these things you want to do, and if not, why do you think your plan is going to work?

Camera thread. /p/ is for superficial douches and discourages questions. I am a cinematographer who likes to do photography from time to time. I want to know what you use and see what you've shot. I know a bit, ask questions and I'll answer.

I use a GH2 with a variety of Rokinon primes. Moving to a GH4. Looking at a D810.

I use a d7100 and want to get into shooting more on my upcoming trips. Looking at buying an action camera now but don't want to spend a huge amount on a gopro.

Do you have any suggestions for cheap camera sliders? I would prefer something similar to sliderplus but that price is very steep. I'm hoping to buy something for around $100.
>>
How bout you use your fucking eyes on a trip and not film the whole thing with a so called action cam. Eh?

I am considering going to London to live there for a year or more when I graduate, my parents are british.

I was planning on applying for Goldsmiths but I've come to realize it's solely for the campus life and I really don't want to spend a 9000p tuition to be permit accomodation. How can I find a scene like campus with younger people who aren't dull and boring?

Shoreditch, Hoxton, Dalston area (and slightly cheaper places beyond it , Hackney, Hackney Wick, Fish Island, ) are the really young and creative neighbourhoods now. Nothing is cheap in Look London, though.

I'd steer well clear of Goldsmiths. To say the student politics there are deranged and insane would be an enormous understatement.

I'm going to Helsinki alone in January. I've heard a lot from people who think that Finnish sauna is great. Is it something I should do on a solo trip?

What time period? I'm heading there mid January myself.
>>
I am an American who has lived in HKI for three years. Definitely take a sauna. Do go drinking in Kallio, but don't expect locals to approach you (unless attractive + female). Finns are friendly when approached, but are shy at first. Make some friends and drink some beer. Sorry you have to be there in January :(

Guys, russian here, i'm asking would it be interesting for you as foreigners now to visit some rare places in Russia with guides in company of me and my friend? We could help with translating, visas, defense, weed and guidance. Our rouble is fallen so everything is very cheap for europeans and americans. It would be enough of 500-600 dollars for example to have nice trip without jet ticket price for 2 weeks. How do you rate this idea? Would you try this?

So I staying in Brisbane for another week and a half, visiting my brother. So far the city really isn't doing it for me, so I was wondering if you guys could suggest some things to do while I here. So far I've mostly been to museums and different micro breweries, but I can't stay drunk all the time. Beaches doesn't interest me at all. I have a car I can use so going places wont be a problem.

Welcome to Australia's third most boring capital (Adelaide and Hobart). Take the train or drive down to the gold coast. Only an hour and a half.
>>
>>1061285
You could check out the glasshouse mountains to the north, theyre cool. There are a few different bushwalks and stuff to do if that interests you. What do you like? Eat street in Hamilton is popular with tourists, its like a event for street vendors selling different foods.. There's also fishing charters out of Manly, costs a bit but they take you outside the bay and you're guaranteed to catch some sweet fish. Be more specific about what kinds of activities you're after. It's a regional capital, not fucking New York so you can't expect the city to "do it for you" on its own.

Atleast you're not surrounded by bums, beggars and africans trying to sell you bits of string like europe....
>>
>>1061323
Nice suggestions. I mean, it's a pleasant city, just not very exciting. The cleanliness, no gypsies, brown people that actually behave like normal people, it's all great, but I like my cities old, and cold. Are there any nice punk venues or jazz bars fairly close to southbank?

You can get opera (also ballet, other theatre tickets online ) from the national theatre website, and I recommend doing so (you get them emailed to you right away as a PDF). Website is something like www.narodni-divadlo.cz
>>
hey mate, went there a couple of weeks back with the gf but only for a few days, old town square is the central tourist location and the best thing there is the church of st nicolas which will take your breath away. just before sunset we headed to park letna and watched the sun go down from that vantage point - you can see across the whole city and watch as the charles bridge lights come on - it was for me a unique and beautiful moment and that scene is seared on my brain.

the architechure around the city (even seemingly ordinary buildings) is really stunning, and just walking around is an enjoyable thing to do - though after walking 12km plus on pebbles the old knees start to ache!

have fun pal.
