I used VyprVPN for Android, looks like they have it for iOS too. You get the first 1 GB for free and pay per month after that.

I want to take a cross country trip but I don't want to take my car because of its unreliability. Are there any car rental places that will rent a car for such a trip? I'm seeing mileage overages that would rek my budget.
7 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Really? I just put 3500 miles on a rental over a months time and it only cost about 550$. Did it through hertz I f you are interested, but I also did the same last year through enterprise. Neither company had anything about mileage limits.
Used the kayak app both times.
Returning a car outside the state you rented it from is where prices really start to jump up it seems.
>>
>>1285042
This. I use to live part time in two different regions of the US. I would sometimes think about renting a car to drive across but it's way too expensive if you return it out of state. But I've rented a car while I haven't had one before and it can be as cheap as 15 bucks a day. btw if you don't get a car through your insurance while yours is in the shop or something happened you're insane or have a shit insurance plan.

Don't hold me to this, but apparently some people have successfully done road trips with U-Haul rentals. Supposedly they saved a decent amount of money, even with the worse fuel economy.

Which one is the nicest? Do people speak English? Which has the best females? Share your stories, i'm pretty interested in visiting next year.

I've never been to any of these countries, but I've heard that Georgia/ Abkhazia/ South Ossetia have amazing landscapes. Also, English is fairly widely spoken in Georgia

Georgia is the biggest tourist draw of the 3, russians and turks go there
Armenia is poorer than Georgia, people are still friendly, lot of their tourism is focused on the diaspora, their neighbors hate them and avoid the place
Azerbaijan is a dictatorship, content on making oil money and would be less fun for most westerners, visas become a hassle for any length of stay compared to the other two

local culture is still conservative about women, you're best off trying to meet other tourists for that

I've been to Armenia & NK

I browse /trv/ to find people posting pictures and stories from their journey, My favorite thread on this board was from the group of friends that roadtripped through the middle east any similar stories?

Can you get tired of travelling?

My family loves to travel, remember visiting other countries ever since I was a kid.
Guess it could be because they never got to travel when they were kids and try to make up for it now.

But I'm sick of it, just want to stay home and relax and my family thinks I'm some sort of black sheep for thinking like that.

I'm going to have a week off next month and I'd like to visit Carlsbad Caverns. I'm in the Northeast and I'd probably only spend about 2-3 days there. What's the cheapest/most fulfilling way of doing this and what else should I check out in the area? I'd probably fly out and rent a car

Some of my friends have recently gotten into the habit of going to Vegas to gamble, and it's been pretty fun.

However, I've been reading there are ways to maximize the kickback Casinos offer you while gambling. A lot of internet resources on this topic are dated.

Any advice on having a good time or maximizing value at Vegas casinos?

Like keep asking for drinks?

Have you ever tried gambling in Atlantic City, or Detroit?
>>
>>1284676

I was thinking more free hotel rooms or comped meals.

I've been gambling in the Bahamas and PR as well, but never been to Atlantic City.

Sign up for one those reward cards. I don't gamble nearly enough to have earned anything but they still send me emails for discounted room rates and even some free rooms from time to time.

In June or July I want to go to Portugal. The plan right now is to fly into Porto, then travel to Coimbra, then Lisbon. I want to spend a day or two in each city, I would be staying in hostels, and I would be traveling via eurorail. This would be my first time traveling by myself, and my first time in Portugal (of course, my first time in Europe as well). Native English speaker, intermediate Spanish speaker (hopefully advanced by the time of the trip), and I just started Portuguese...Realistically I'll still be a beginner when I get there.

Can anyone offer any advice? Any good hostels in any of these cities that you would personally recommend? Any other cities I should hit on the way from Porto to Lisbon, or in Spanish land above Portugal?

Thanks.

Portugal vs Spain. Which is the better Iberian travel experience?

I do know some Spanish, enough to read and get the idea; but to be honest my Spanish knowledge is so little that acting as if it would be a huge benefit in conversation with the locals is pointless.
>>
>>1284665
Just use English, if you aren't from a Spanish speaking country and you use Spanish to a Portuguese person to communicate it is offensive. When I was talking to older people and realized they didn't speak a lick of English (my native language too) I would say something in Spanish so they would get the gist of it.

Aside from that, there is quite a high proficiency of English in the country for being in Southern Europe.

Baixa Guest House is a cheap hostel in a really good location in Lisbon where u can get a private room. I stayed there when I visited. The owner is pretty nice, will give u a map and go over it with you to get u acclimated.

I stayed in a shitty area location wise in Porto so I cant really give u advice where to stay there. If you're partying along the river be careful walking back up to the city by the main cathedral cause the neighborhoods there are really sketchy for European standards.

I'd just spend a day in Coimbra, it is a really nice city but it is small and I think it would be better for you to spend an extra day in Lisbon and take a day trip to Sintra.

I think you'll have fun and imo Portugal is a good starter country for traveling by yourself. As a matter of fact it was the country that I went to on a whim by myself that gave me the travel bug.

Best things to do in San Diego? My girlfriend will be coming down to visit me and I want to have a good time. She doesn't like zoos, unfortunately, so SeaWorld and the San Diego Zoo are out.

Balboa Park has like 20 different museums in a row and you can buy a week long pass to all of them. And there's restaurants, fountains and flower gardens and playgrounds and shit. You can definitely spend a few days there.

couple of things
1) it looks like your route is cutting through a lot of small towns and cities. is this a trip where your looking to party and hit up the night life or camp and take in the beauty of the rockies and west coast? if its the former you did Ok, but if its the latter you missed a lot of great areas.
2) drive near the water man. Oregon coast is fantastic and going through salem/eugene/medford would be a huge missed opportunity.
3) >L.A.
there's going to be people who defend it, i've been there 3-4 times and i always leave thinking it's a shithole. seriously its Mexico City 2.0. its dirty, hard to get around, and traffic is awful. go to San Diego instead.
4) if you're going out as far as Vegas check out the grand canyon and Sedona, AZ. beautiful stretch of land and vastly different than anything on your route.
Good luck OP and I await to hear from anons telling me how wrong i am about LA.
>>
Is that the shortest possible route according to google maps for you? It misses soooo much good stuff that is just a little out of your way.
Like, for real, your start is near glacier national park, do that for mountains and hiking.
You miss yellowstone as well, what the heck?
While in Utah go east a few hours and go through capitol reef national park, then take state highway 12 south and west through escalante national monument(unless you are afraid of heights, that road is amazing in a cartoon like way.) go to Bryce Canyon for crazy rock formations. Your route currently skims the edge of zion national park, very popular and crowded frequently, but worth the stop.
Go to the north rim of Grand Canyon, it is so worth it. I like it better than the south rim anyway.
Your drive from LA to the Bay Area is friggin boring no matter how you cut it, since hwy 1 is still closed for who kno s how long. You might consider doing some back roads from coalinga north to pinnicales national park, that's a real nice old winding highway, and pinnicales is nice, if small.
North cali has mt lassen, which I love the area of, but it's a ways east of your current route, and I think the coast road as anon pointed out above is more scenic. Plus it has the redwoods. Waaaay slower than I 5 though.
Olympic national park is fantastic, and your current route is the boring side. West coast has redwoods and rainforests and dramatic pebble beaches, north side has hurricane ridge. I see you are shipping back north from port angeles, nice town. Hurricane ridge is the road that goes south out of town into the park, good campground here. The drive up the ridge is great and has good views if it isn't cloudy. The ridge itself has multiple trail heads and a visitor center, and again if it's not cloudy, views to die for of snowy mountains and forested Valleys. It looks like a scene out of middle earth. Also lots of wild life up there in the meadows.

I'm going to be starting off on roadtrip through Wales this weekend. It'll last about five days and we're leaving from a village near Cardiff. Everyone else is British but no one has any idea of what they'd like to see. Because they are all working, it's up to me to make a plan. So I've got a travel guide and the internet and this is what I'm trying to do. I know I want to go to Snowdonia and Portmeirion (kitschy village, 'Britain's biggest folly'), but don't have any other ideas. I am more interested in nature, but it'll likely rain heavily the whole time so we need backups. Cardiff is not on the table because we've all seen all of it.

I hate to make this kind of thread single purpose thread, but then again this a slow board on a Finnish shoemaking board so who cares: what to do in Wales?

Hey /trv/, tomorrow I'll be traveling internationally for the very first time via Condor Airline (I'm a poorfag). I'm really nervous and I was wondering if anyone else had used this airline before? I'm flying domestically first via Jet Blue to a larger airport, do I have to worry about my luggage?
9 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>1284422
Are both flights on same itinerary or did you book them separately? If you booked them separately you ll have to pick up your checked luggage from jetblue and check it in again with condor. This will involve exiting and reentering security. You could also try telling jetblue about condor when checking in they might be able to tag it all the way. Condor is not a bad airline
>>
>>1284423
I booked it all through Condor.
>>
>>1284425
call condor and ask if they have a baggage agreement with jet blue, they should be able to tell you there and then if the baggage will go all the way through without any input from you, even if they say they do, look at your luggage tags before your bag is sent off and make sure they have the code for your final destination on them or ask the agent if you're using the desk
