I will be traveling to Mexico From japan and i will have to wait for my connection flight in Los Angeles for almost 10 hours, I dont have enough money to rent a car o take buses nor taxis. Is there anywhere I can go by walking?
>The Japanese? Those sandal wearing goldfish tenders? Bosh! Flimshaw!
Marina del Ray / Venice beach is about 2hrs on foot, seriously though, how the fuck are you going to manage travelling if you can't afford a bus fare?
>>1150811
im mexican, i am going home i was in japan with a scholarship, therefore i am poor :D
there's nothing around. just boring hotels, storage spaces, and long term parking lots.
There is however an In'N'Out Burger very close. I would try it out if you haven't had it before. It's always packed though so prepare for extra time.
If you were going from Northern Germany to Catalunya by car, which places would you visit on your way there?
I was thinking about taking a break in Amsterdam, Paris, Lyon and sleep in a tent (2 times, the whole trip taking 3 days) somewhere near a small village.
Can you recommend me anything else (especially in Holland and middle/eastern France)? And where can I find places in France to put up a tent for one night for free?
>>1150685
I think going through Germany, Switzerland, down into Italy then back up the Western coast, southern coast of france and then into Spain is better. I would also visit Northern Spain if you have the chance. Much nicer than Barcelona (although it is a great city)
>>1150731
>>1150776
I am moving permanently from Germany to Barcelona, I am not a tourist there. What do you guys know about toll roads in France? I don't want to spend too much money on tolls. unfortunately selecting the option "avoid toll roads" in google maps does nothing (only the route in Spain is changed).
Hey guys. Planning on doing around 11 days in Croatia before heading to a festival in Pula (Outlook, if anyone was interested.)
I have some rough dates planned:
18-19 - Budapest
20 - Zagreb
21-22 - Split
23-26 - Dubrovnik
27-28 - Split
29 - Hotel at Plitvice lakes
30 - Zagreb
Would you guys recommend changing anything around? And any suggestions on stuff to check out in those places would be great! I'm more interested in some culture and a bit of relaxing before the inevitable shit storm of a festival.
Dubrovnik and Split can be explored in one day each easily. You can use your time to go to Bosnia as well.
Maybe Mostar ? Zadar is also really beautiful :)
Thanks guys. Might cut a day from Split and a couple from Dubrovnik to check out Zadar and also have been recommended to see Hvar...
For someone possibly moving from Washington State to Kansas, what should I expect? Besides hill billies and incest.
Hays Kansas in the middle of the state is one of the funnest college towns I've been to. I like it a lot. Other than that city, Kansas in general is one of the most friendly states there are. The people are not rednecks or hillbillies or incest, but they are small town and probably small minded and in general there isn't terribly much activity outside of Hays. Kansas City and St Louis is okay, sure you can make some good nights out of that. Colorado is also only a days drive away.

is it easy to find work? WA state is so incredibly crowded. My city (bout 15 miles east of seattle) has doubled in population the past 5 years. From 40k to 80k. Middle class is pretty much non existent. I heard the BBQ scene is amazing in Kansas. Barely any traffic, either. Btw the incest thing was kind of a joke, I talked to one girl from kansas who told me she bangs her brother. No clue if she was joking or not.
I don't live there, just visit frequently. I imagine middle class jobs are plentiful there. I'd look it up. Definitely not a tech oriented state.
Hey dear travelbros
I want to travel the west coast of South America next summer. Are the majority of people traveling down from north to south or up from South to North ?
No one ?
>>1150572
>Are the majority of people traveling down from north to south or up from South to North?
I would be surprised if there were official numbers on this, or even an estimate. Besides, there's not 'one' route that backpackers follow.
And what do you mean by west coast? Litterly just follow the coast?
>>1150572
my best guess is if you're from outside the continent you'd want to start north to south, like starting from lima and going all the way down to patagonia, why that direction though i can't tell because i haven't been there but that's what i always hear
Americans living in foreign countries. What were your reasons for leaving? Your country of choice? How easy was it to find work and a place to live? Is it better than your life back in the US? Looking for anybody's stories in broad sense.
>>1150513
Im thinking of moving to costa rica if Clinton gets elected. If im going to live in a latin American country i might as well live in the happiest one
Living in Serbia right now.
Reasons for leaving:
>Girlfriend of two years lives here (biggest one)
>Terrified of a Clinton presidency
>It's very cheap here
How easy to find work and a place to live:
>I work online so I'm making a western salary over here pretty much
>Girlfriend found me the place to live
Is it better than your life back in the US?
>For sure
>>1150625
how well do you speak Serbian? Is it your first foreign language? How long did it take for you to pick it up?
What's the most cyberpunk-like city in the world that's worth a visit? I keep hearing cities like Hong Kong, Tokyo, Osaka etc. But what do y'all think?
I personally reccomend Jisatsu (自殺).
It seems like the perfect choice for a guy like you.
out of hk shanghai beijing seoul tokyo kyoto osaka and taipei i thought the most cyberpunk was taipei, the alleys in wanhua and datong specifically.
Osaka and Tokyo have a lot of the fancyness and flashiness of cyberpunk, but very little of the dirt and poverty. I would guess that maybe Hong Kong's your best bet, I've never been there though.
Did this film make anyone else really mad?
>My daughter probably won't survive attending a U2 concert
>Literally the first person she meets outside airport is a sex trafficker
>What have Armenians ever done to anyone
Did you mean to post this on /tv/? Movies are not real life, despite what Americans believe.
>it's a OP can't make the difference between /tv/ and /trv/ episode
>>1150421
>Armenians
Albanians*
And a lot.
I'm leaving next week and will spend a couple of days in each place starting and ending in Paris. Please post any advice and recommendations.
Also, anons who want to chill, I will gladly buy you a beer. Just post some contact info.
>>1150408
ASL and time in each city? I could possibly go out for a beer if you're in my city during the right time and if you're not some 52 year old creeper. Also, post your throwaway info or whatever.
>>1150411
32m creeper from California ;)

Note that I don't know how long that email will work, so if you don't get an email back from me post in the thread
OP bumping once for the day
So im going to rock en seine this month alone.
Anyone got any tips on how to meet people/have a better time at a large music festival?
>>1150321
Just start talking to people about music, some obvious common ground
Strike up random conversations with as many people as possible till you find people you get along with. I know it sounds cliche. "Cool *bandname* shirt" "Do you know when/where *band* is playing?"
Im a giant introvert autist and never have trouble making friends at festivals. It helps if you're on drugs and talk to similar minded people.
Lurk social networks for "alone travelers to festival" group, there are plenty generally.
Speak with people, offer them alcohol or whatever.
You don't find anyone you want to pass some time with? (very difficult) It's alright get drunk alone and enjoy the music, nobody is there to judge you.
>t. massive autist who went alone to a psytrance festival 2 weeks ago
I have the option of travelling around the nicer countries encompassing the Mediterranean Sea, or Japan, South Korea, and maybe China if it's worth going there.
Which would be a better option? I'll be travelling a month, so I want to go somewhere where I won't be bored.
I'm going during the Winter.
Or should I go to a completely different country? I don't know. That's why I'm here.
Not really interested in going to most European countries, other than Spain, France, and Italy.
>history and culture
>gook shit and anime
Yeah tough choice. Good luck, op.
>>1150315
Japan has some nice culture though, right?
If I were travelling in the summer, I'd take the Mediterranean without second guessing it, but with it being the winter I feel like the area won't have its optimal climate for it to be as enjoyable as it can be.
Northern hemisphere Summer in the Greek islands, July. Winter in Japan, late Feb. Santorini was really good with a group of mates, beaches and backpackers. Hakuba was the most beautiful place I've ever been. Snowboarding and Onsen's. Was nice with the missus. Both countries had fantastic food.
So I'm currently teaching English in Taiwan, and today, I was considering places I can go during the Chinese New Year Holiday (so I can book everything ASAP once I've decided where I want to go).
Right now, I'm leaning towards the Philippines or Vietnam since they are cheap and there's a lot of natural beauty in those countries, among other things. I'm open to anywhere that's fairly reasonable as far as costs, has good food and natural beauty, and has a good nightlife (beautiful women is a plus).
Are these good choices? Anything I need to be aware of if I do go to either of them? (my Filipina friend has told me quite a bit about the Philippines, which has made me even more interested in travelling there)
bump?

Just graduated from school in PH. The senerey is beautiful! If you plan to stay in the Ph, live in a smaller city. Don't live in manila, it's too big of a place to trust strangers. Gf had her earrings pulled out once. The poorer people in 'barangay's' are the ones i trusted most.
Money wise; don't trust anyone eith your money. I stress this! Never reveal how much you truely make. They will be all over you, your cock, your gf's cock, everything to try to win your favor. I exaggeratted that a little, but if you do tell them how much you have/make, tell them half the amount. I tell it to the graduating students too, if they don't, the parents will expect them to pay for all the families bills. The money itself is fast and easy to spend.
The country is beautiful, just be careful.
>>1150246
Also, if you're an english teacher, than go with vietnam. Filipinos are taught english from birth.
I'm going on a solo trip to Italy next month. I don't really feel like lugging a suit case everywhere since I'll be bouncing around.
Any suggestions for a backpack that's not too big, that can carry enough clothes and stuff for 7 days? Preferably something that's good for flying with too.
Also, any ideas for a small day pack too?
Does anyone know anything about Tortuga bags? These look good.
http://www.tortugabackpacks.com/products/tortuga-packable-daypack?utm_source=recommended
>>1150131
Osprey Porter 46, everything you're looking for, as good as the competition and a lot cheaper.
>>1150144
Looks nice, I'll check it out, but compared to the Tortuga bag. Which is better?

I'm going to be travelling to England next month, but don't want a run of the mill hotel.
What's the weirdest, most bizarre place I can pay to spend the night (or several, preferably)
How much is your budget?
https://solentforts.com/no-mans-fort/
>>1150160
About 100-150 a night
>>1150168
Currency? Although I guess at this point which of the most likely choices is not that huge a difference.

ITT Talk about if Russia is a good place to travel to, or even stay.
I like the language, it's easy, so I briefly considered being an ESL teacher there. Politically, I like Putin most of the time. But that's just me. And please don't turn this thread into a Putin Paragraph. Keep that in /pol/ Topics to hit are American relations with the country, (and what they'll think of me) the common belief that the country is strict as fuck, and generally good places to live.
Thanks!
>>1149816
I've visited Russia a medium-sized handful of times, I'm an American, and I'm not fond of Putin (by the same token, I'm not terrified of him, nor do I think he needs overthrowing--he seems popular with the Russian electorate, crooked though he almost without question is, which says it's up to the Russian people to decide if they want him or not).
All that said....
I like Russia a lot. People are very straightforward, often unpleasantly so, and it is an undeniably politically and economically dysfunctional place. But the country is the progenitor of one of the world's most important literary and cultural traditions, and people are very numerous, diverse, and interesting (and the women are, if not always up to the minute by Western fashion standards, frequently uncommonly attractive. But that has never been a thing of interest to me, as my Ukrainian-100-years-ago wife would not approve.).
Well, what do you want to talk about?
Let me live up to >>1149838 expectations and, in a straightforward way, ask you to drop that meme esl teacher and i like putin bullshit in favor of asking specific questions that you can't google easily
Learn the language. It will be a day/night difference. Russia is big. Diverse in people and nature, as the anon above says. You can get lost in the endless taiga riding a bmw and listening to the brigada soundtrack or you can attend high-end parties in Moscow, the country can cater to all of your needs. Set yourself specific plans and follow them. My recomm is to google a "tzarist russia" tour for yourself. See the most beautiful and important buildings from the period up to 1917 when they fell to Communism. A large part can be done in westmost Russia (the part next to Poland) so it'll be more bang for the buck.
