Kenya general?
Does anyone know if Kenya would be enjoyable on a budget? I know a lot of the National Parks can get very expensive but how feasible would it be for a solo white traveller to visit towns and maybe villages across the country? What's the deal for food, accommodation, language etc.

Enjoy getting killed by Al-Shabaab.
Attacks could be indiscriminate in places frequented by foreigners including hotels, bars, restaurants, sports bars and nightclubs, sporting events, supermarkets, shopping centres, coastal areas including beaches, airports, buses, trains and other transport hubs. Places of worship including churches and mosques have also been targeted. Be particularly vigilant in these areas.

>Does anyone know if Kenya would be enjoyable on a budget?
Could be, if you enjoy that sort of thing. I had a good time there, but my visit was very short because the person who booked the tickets fucked up, though...
>I know a lot of the National Parks can get very expensive but how feasible would it be for a solo white traveler to visit towns and maybe villages across the country?
Ought to be doable, if you have that mindset. Depending on where you are heading, study up on malaria nd the like.
>What's the deal for food, accommodation, language etc
Was only in Nairobi and surrounding area, I don;t recall anybody that did not speak English. Unless you are a vegetarian, hit a "yama chama" place, which I have probably spelled wrong, and which is essentially a "Here, eat grilled meat, dammit!" experience. Depending on the place, you'll have to make some decisions about bush meat, so study up on that as well.

Nice, you looked at the state department travel advisory. Here's an excerpt the one for France, just so folks can compare.
Credible information indicates terrorist groups continue plotting possible attacks in Europe. European governments are taking action to guard against terrorist attacks; however, all European countries remain potentially vulnerable to attacks from transnational terrorist organizations
France’s Parliament approved an extension of the state of emergency imposed after the Nice truck attack in July 2016.
The French government has re-established border controls and movement may be restricted in some areas.
Be aware of your local security situation, and take appropriate steps to bolster your personal security.
U.S. citizens should be aware that demonstrations and large events intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational.
You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.

kenya is nowhere near as safe as it was. Could you consider Namibia as a second option? Or Botswana?
Acolyte of the peaceful religion here...
My question is how are Muslims regarded in the eastern bloc (and the world in general)?
I've been interested in visiting it for years but have always been put off by the perceived xenophobia of the locals which I imagine is now heightened by the refugee/ migrant shit of recent years
P.s I honestly don't want to blow anyone up nor do I hate the west/ white people. I drink alcohol, eat pork went to a Catholic school and have been brought up in London
That's a very interesting question, to be honest. I can give you a few pointers.
>Serbia
Muslims are viewed with a little prejudice, now more with Kosovo's independence (98% Muslim) and they've had quite the genocidal history towards Albanians
>Bulgaria (where I'm from)
It's A LOT more complex due to the Ottoman Empire, Commnunists, etc. I'll be brief, in present day Bulgaria Muslims aren't discriminated against and are treated with respect. Muslims have been around here since the late 1300s when Bulgaria fell under Ottoman rule. Country was liberated in the late 1800s but the mark has been left and you'll see a lot of mosques that were churches, which later became churches and vice versa. Some ethnic Bulgarians converted to Islam, we have ethnic Turks who are also Muslims and the scum of the Earth gypsies who want to present themselves as Turks.
The worst time to be a Muslim in Bulgaria was in the 70s and 80s when communists flipped their shit:

Now that it's over things are back to normal. Refugee impact is low here, so you won't have that recent stigma.
I'm interested in hearing from other Anons about
>Russia
>Poland

I didn't know that about Bulgaria. Sounds interesting.
What is there to do/ see in Bulgaria?

Serbs slaughtered muslims like only 15 years ago, not only albanians but bosnians too.
i noticed that "eastern europe" is becoming more popular here and everyone is raving over krakow, prague, katowice...etc
but i've never even seen my country mentioned at all, even though its the closest by development to "western europe".
so what gives, are we just bad at advertising or is there just nothing to do here? most videos i see of tourist say they are having a grand old time
i guess the question im asking is, have you ever even heard of slovenia and/or thought of coming here?
>>1164459
Brazilian here. I've been in Ljubljana in 2005 and I regret not have stayed there more (and stayed less in Zagreb)
>>1164459
Since when has Eastern Europe become popular on here? Europe in general is a pretty unpopular topic on this board
Hey travel. Going to travel the coast of africa in a few weeks. Was wondering what the cheapest way from oslo-tangier is? I was thinking of plane to madrid, lay over two days and fly down. Is it cheaper to take a boat from spain to tangier? Or how would you guys do it?
Is there a boat between spain-tangier

I'm thinking about doing a solo trip to Vegas. What would be a good hotel to go on Fremont St? Four Queens looks tempting, but I thought I'd ask.

Hello
I am Danish guy currently studying for half a year in Valencia. In december and january I am fairly certain I will have 7-14 days of free time to travel a bit. My question is: are there any places in Spain (or places relatively easy to get to from Spain) that would be nice to visit this time of year? I've thought about the Basque Country and Asturias, but I might save that part of Spain for later as I would like to do the Camino Primitivo some time in the near future.
Thanks.
>>1161653
Yes, north Spain is the best of Spain, go there if you can, good luck. A spaniard from Extremadura

Hi /trv/
Me and my family are going to dublin for 3 days in november. We’re not hardcore real travelers but not the lay around in the sun kind either. What are some cool places to visit there?
We really like neighbourhoods like camden market in london or the historical center of edinburgh.
Thanks in advance
Ahhhh whaaatts the storrryyyy?
Yeah I'm from Dublin, there is a lot of cool shit to see in Dublin and the city itself is beautiful despite all the dirty skangers around the place. Do you have any particular interests?
Apart from all the obvious places, if your family has a sort of macabre sense of humor, go to the Museum of Natural History. It is an old-school dead stuffed animals in glass cases museum, the taxidermy is old and in many cases bad, and an unsettling number of the animals have been preserved for eternity with what seems to be a goofy grin on their face.
Known locally as the Dead Zoo, it is worth an hour or so.

Can anyone recommend a nice hostel I could stay at in Bangkok? One that I could bring my mom to (is out of site of "wink wink nudge nudge")?
What do you think is the cheapest way to get from Singapore to Thailand?
Best / Worst beaches you have visited?
>>1160980
Seriously, hotels are so cheap in SEA, why take your Mom to a hostel?
>>1160999
Just to visit, like if she were to come over and see me. I will be in the country for much longer than she will.
I believe she plans to stay in a hotel, but I probably won't.
s.e.a. isn't as cheap as people say it is, maybe it once was but prices are goin' up
QTDDTOT? QTDDTOT.
Post here /trv/ for questions that don't deserve their own threads.
OP here. Why isn't pic related a more popular desination?
I very rarely if ever see threads posted about Macau (Macao?).
Why? These threads only serve to encourage faggotry and self-appointed wannabe mod types. The kind of hit and run posters who create throwaway threads don't check catalogs or read stickies anyway. Why would you do this?
>>1147954
>Macau
It's just a corrupt casino town without culture. If you wanted something cool, you would gamble in a non-communist country.
Young female Arab travelling to Germany Munich in a few hours not exactly by choice. I'm just really worried about getting hate generally or being involved in a hate crime due to the recent refugee mess (not exactly sure what's going on there). I know I sound paranoid and this is probably my anxiety speaking but I can't help it. If any of you here lives in Munich I'd like to know how the situation is over there thanks
We're not allowed to discuss the refugee crisis on here apparently. I personally think it's a silly rule as travel and people are inseparable but there you go.
>>1165125
Oh, I didn't realise that :o
>>1165121
Nobody will give a shit, there's enough other Arabs (well, Turks, but people can't tell the difference anyway) in Germany. As long as you don't walk around wearing a burka and shouting Allahu Akbar people won't care.
Airbnb experiences bad/good
I booked my first "entire house" for a weekened and I just want to know if I meet with the host or what happens

Only used once, but will again. Got a chilling apartment in Brussels, just off Grand Place, picked the keys up of the Cafe down stairs. Was dirt cheap too.
Used it for pretty much holiday in the past 3-4 years. Ive stayed in London, Paris, Melbourne, Tokyo, LA and a few other places. Accommodation has always beenclean and in better location and far cheaper than any equivalent hotel or serviced apts. Only booked with accommodation that had at least a few reviews.
Only time it didnt turn out great was when i houseshared. The hosts were a couple of asshats. Will always book whole place now.

The aim of this thread is to open discussion channels between the moderators and the users to decide the direction this board should go. Here's hoping for a productive feedback.
Recently, a thread with 100+ replies discussing the impact of immigration on the travel experience was deleted without explanation. This regularly happens to threads of a similar theme. Contributors are often labelled racist bigots who don't belong on this board, despite stating their arguments in a calm and civil manner. For me, travel is about the architecture, history, climate, food, and the people. It seems ridiculous that we're not allowed to discuss the final category so as not to offend the sensibilities of the delicate snowflakes of the far-left. The people you interact with on your travels is one of the most prominent components of the experience in my view and so is appropriate for discussion on /trv/.
>>1163826
I don't disagree with your position, just talking about it here.
If it's a thread specifically about Paris or France and the number of non natives comes up it's relevant discussion.
That thread was just complaining about the number of non whites in western europe in general. I like how this board is slow and on topic. There's plenty of threads on /pol/ or /int/ to talk about non whites.
I think that every opinion should matter and be allowed given it is backed up by certain facts or, at least, by high quality bait. That's what distinguishes an image board from a forum - there is no black and white and no personal basis. Sadly, I see that here "immigrants suck" and "immigrants suck because..." are treated equally.
We also need to get past this assumption that the only posters upset with Western Europe's rapidly changing demographics are whites. I'm sure middle class Chinese and Indian travelers feel let down when they travel to Paris only to discover it's a slum. "Paris syndrome" among the Japanese has been well documented, as I'm sure you all know. A lot of these Asian families save up for years for a once in a lifetime European vacation and are shocked to find the following: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ju79YT_lBVI (video was recorded in Paris earlier this month)
How many beds is too many in a hostel?
I'd like to visit London next year and I've been looking at lots of hostels and they often quote the cheapest price which leads to a room with 33 beds...seems crazy, but maybe it's alright?
Also, hostel general.
With really good earplugs, a really good sleep mask, and a solid buzz before sleeping, you can deal with it. But just be aware that there will inevitably be a group of assholes that come in and wake everyone up, will always be people fucking in the room, people screwing around with plastic bags, etc.
I'd put 8 at the max for me personally but if the money matters I could make whichever work.
All depends on the hostel and the way they lay out the beds. I've been in a 10 beds that feel like you've got room and privacy you need, I've been in 4 beds dorms that feel extremely cramped. 4-10 is what I aim for anything over 12 is too much and generally a shit show
do yall have bad experiences with hostels? like get your shit stolen? thats my main worry with them.
