I am an aussie heading off to the US next month,
I want to shoot WW2 era weapons, esp German.
I am in LA for 2 days, then DC for 3 days.

Does anyone know of any shoot ranges where i can rent this weapons?

You picked the 2 worst possible places. There will not be anywhere you can rent those in those two places.
>>
There are ranges in Vegas and also in Texas where you can rent fully auto weapons, not sure if they have vintage ones

To be honest mate, your best bet is to ask /k/ .

I sometimes see people on planes who are clearly breaking these rules.
How strictly are they enforced?
What happens if you get called on it?

Any tips? I want to buy a backpack that is closer to 60L

They'll never stop if its a backpack that isn't obviously one of white hippy my whole life in the bag backpacks.

The problem becomes when it actually doesn't fit in the overhead bin. Then you're force to put in front of your feet and have a shitty trip
>>
>>1166271
Shittier the airlines, the more strict they'll be.

If you're flying first class with Qantas I'm sure they'd let you take 4, 20kg bags - even though I'm sure that's not what the rules say.

Wizz Air however has VERY strict rules about what's allowed to carry onboard and they enforce it like there's no tomorrow.

My general view is... shittier the airline stricter it gets.

Well i only ever fly the cheapest possible so i guess that applies to me

I'm really stressing out about this budget I'm on.

I'm pretty much going to Australia for 6 months to visit my fiance,(I live in Canada) She lives with her parents who work(she works too), and I'm going up there with roughly 2.7 thousand dollars (after purchasing plane tickets for there AND back). Would I get turned down from entering the county? Even though I'll be staying with my fiance who works and parents?, while having quite a bit of money to possibly help out?
21 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Probably not. $2700 is a halfway decent amount and so long as you can prove your fiance/family are supporting you for at least a while you'll be fine. You might get stopped and held for a few hours while they check it out though.
>>
>>1166203
Yeah what this anon said. Just as long as you got the correct visa and you can prove everything you'll be fine. Just out of curiosity, whereabouts does your fiance live?

Hey /trv/

My girl and I really wanna visit Canada next summer. We don't know for how long or exactly what to do or need for the trip in that matter, but I wanted to ask you guys.

Any advice about traveling to Canada for the first time? Romantic couple-ly things are a +

Are you aware that it's the second biggest country on earth?
We're gonna need more details.

Yes I'm fully aware. My bad.

Basically we will probably be landing in Toronto. From there maybe go and see the city and go to a nice restaurant to have lunch/dinner. After that then I guess we'll head out to see Niagara Falls? I know it's overrated, but that's like going to Florida and not going to Disney lol

I'm living in Guangzhou right now and have a week vacation coming up. Where is a good area to spend a week in China? I like hiking, culture, and partying.

I want to get out of the area, and for the time being I can't visit Hong Kong or Macau.

Does anyone here have experience with Indonesia? It seems like it is talked about a lot less than other SEA nations. I am debating a trip there with a rough outline looking like

>1 night in Jakarta
>Fly to Bali and stay 4 nights in Ubad
>Fly to Yogyakarta for 3 nights
>Train to Jakarta for 1 night

I am torn between this trip or a Vietnam and Laod trip.

Hi /trv/ I'm an Australian hailing from Perth and was looking for some pointers and the go-ahead from some experienced travellers. I'm planning on hitchhiking/freight hopping from:

Perth > Adelaide
Adelaide > Melbourne

Couch surf in Melbourne for a week and then get a ticket to Paris and use Airbnb for a week.

For the whole trip (of which Im going with a friend) we'll both have $2600 dollarydoos which we intend on spending as little as possible during the hitchiking/couchsurfing phase and mainly on the plane ticket to Paris/Airbnb/food.

I understand this is a very amateur level travelling experience but it is doable right?

Fly to Paris, from Australia, for one week? for what purpose?

I've had friends have a lot of success hitching in the outback, truckers mostly pick people up. But what are you? two dudes? might have less luck.

Why don't you just fly to SE Asia somewhere?
>>
>>1165536
week in melb + minimum 3-4 days getting there = 10 days. Buying food and not paying anything else would be ~$30/day, so you'll need $300 for Aus, plus at least an extra $100 for expenses along the way. Unlikely you will get the whole 10 days without paying for accommodation, so I'd allow at least an extra $100 for that.

Flight to Paris cheapest seems around $1000 return which seems to cheap to be real. You will spend ~$100 in getting to the airport, eating there, and getting from the airport to your accommodation.

Assuming it actually is legit then that leaves you with $1100 for a week. So yeah it could work, provided you were careful to spend as little money as possible in Aus. I'm still a bit incredulous about the flight price (I used skyscanner) I'd expect $1500 to be more realistic, and in that case having only $600 for a week in paris is not that much to have up your sleeve, but if you have some extra cash in reserve for emergencies it would be alright.
>>
>>1165562
to add: imo it seems to much to be trying to do the melbourne and paris in the same trip, it would make more sense to do one or the other. If you insist on doing both then do Paris first, then fly back to melbourne, that way you can adjust the length of that stay to suit your remaining money, and if something goes wrong you're still in your home country.

Van dweller here, came into a few bucks and thinking about putting something like pic related together and driving from Alaska all the way down to the tip of south america.

I have never lived in my van outside the US.
How tough is it in mexico and points south to be a van dweller?

I don't think there are any roads between Panama and Colombia. You'll have to take a ferry.

Also driving through the mountains in latin america is dangerous. Some of those roads are crazy.
>>
>>1165431
Don't take such a nice and expensive van like that through central america or northern south america.
You gonna get killed like that.

Get an old but reliable ford transit or merc sprinter.
It's worth spending extra for a used mercedes with a good service history btw, if it's been serviced at a mercedes you get free breakdown cover and a courtesy vehicle/time in hotels and shit while it gets repaired.

admittedly not in much of south america, but it will cover north america and may still be of some use near the southern cone

What is it with all these completely oblivious travellers? I constantly meet people at hostels that don't know anything about the local culture or regions or history. Most of them never opened a book or researched anything on where they're going or what they're actually going to do.

Don't get me wrong, as most of the people you meet are actually interesting, but it just seems that as of lately travel is getting associated with uneducated people. It completely blocks any conversation that goes deeper than just talking about liquor, weed or parties.

I got a feeling we had a talk about this earlier today.

Honestly, I think it comes from information oversaturation due to the Internet and the entertainment industry. Everyone is expected to have some sort of "complete" world view in order to not appear ignorant in our globalised world. Given that most people are ignorant who likes to jump to the easiest conclusion, they expect the country they travel to to fit within the constructed image of the country that they've made from preconceptions based on Hollywood movies and vain Wikipedia articles. Take the human nature element into consideration, that most people have a hard time changing their otherwise solidified conceptions of something, and you have tourists who walk around completely oblivious, sacking in tourist traps and ignoring all the nuances, so they can go home with a feeling of "yep, I was right", and then brag to their friend about how cultural they are and how they "really got a feel of such an exotic culture!"

There will be two types of reactions to this thread:

1 - SJW autistic freakout
>OMG who are you to say why others should travel.
>You're an elitist.
>Everyone travels for different reasons so if someone wants to only party and smoke weed that's their choice.

2 - smug agreement from real travelers™
>Everybody is stupid except me.
>Plebs should have to pass an IQ test to be granted a passport.
>I myself am a member of Mensa and have an IQ of 160.
>I learn the local language to fluency before I travel and acquaint myself with cultural nuances to avoid faux pas.

This board is cancer.
>>
>>1165365
Omg how can you judge people for partying and having fun. Never heard the song " girls just wanna have fun? " , it's a lifestyle for me and many of my friends.

I don't go to foreign countries to look at 2000 year old pottery or immerse myself in the " history and culture " ( only creeps do that ). When I travel I just want to get fucked up with my girlfriends!! The cute tourist boys are just a plus ;) :)

Cycling or hitching Western Europe
Hey peeps
I am planning a trip along this or very similar route from London to Paris the long way, probably going to be cycling but might consider hitchhiking. Is hitching easy in these countries? Are there nice cycling trails?
I mostly will be staying in the countryside and the main things I'm interested in are national parks and big crazy parties (going in summer). I like historical places too. I want to give myself a month, do y'all think this is too long? Any specific places you want to recommend?
In traveling US I've basically just camped anywhere and everywhere in the country side often on the side of the highway just a bit into the brush. Is this not possible in Europe?
I speak French and Portuguese but not Spanish, it won't be too big of a problem ya? Even outside of the city?
Lastly, Cairngorns in Scotland and Brittany are a bit out of the way, are they worth the detour?
I'm not sure if I want to include Netherlands yet
PS not concerned about muh immigrants

How easy is it to carry luggages and bags in Eastern Europe? I'll be going there in a few months and not sure how much baggage I'll be able to take with me.

Try this -- see how easy it is to carry them at home. They will be the same bags when you arrive in Eastern Europe, and exactly as easy to carry there as at home!

I'm a fan of bacpacks, but if you want to carry a suitcase I expect your arms to be tired quickly!

E. Europe is big and doesn't cater to luxury a lot.

The greatest experience I ever had abroad (although it might sound kinda dull) was working for accomodation in a hostel in Noosa Australia.

The hostel in itself while really cheap looking had a wonderful atmosphere and the town of Noosa is the greatest place I've ever been.

It was just something about waking up at 7 am, going for a surf, then working as a kitchen hand at the hostel 2,5 hours in the evening, and then playing drinking games with my co-workers later in the evening every night.

All I got in return was a dump of a room that I shared with 11 co-workers, and a free meal every night. I also got really tight with the bartenders there so I always got free drinks almost every night.

I had everything I needed but nothing more and for the minimum of effort.

I recommend anyone who gets the chance to go to Nomad's Noosa and work there for a couple of weeks to do it. The people who work there are really friendly and I guarantee you'll want to stay for longer.

Now anyway. I find myself longing to go back to this kind of life. I wonder if any of you have similar experiences from completely different parts of the world?

I'm on a low budget now and if there's anything like this kind of workplace in Europe, I'd be interested. Does anyone have any specific places they'd like to recommend?

I should add that what I'm really looking for in similar experiences is a work for accomodation hostel with beautiful scenery and great co-workers that doesn't require you to work too many hours a day.
