Ok lads, so am going with 3 friends to Poland in the summer.

I will be in Warsaw for 3 days and Krakow for 4 days.

What are some must-do's in Poland?
How is the food scene?
Any favourite restaurants with local food you can recommend?

Mention anything worthwhile really that you liked - museums, casinos, camps etc

>inb4 Auschwitz
Is it worth it? I have heard that it is not that big of a deal.

nah, Auschwitz is bullshit
I mean, they have a pretty nice chamber with human hair. Beside that it's mostly boring. Also, it takes at least two hours to get there from Kraków and usually more to return, so it's a whole day trip.

Hey /trv/, Australian here. I've been considering flying to the US sometime next year and spending a few months there, travelling around, so I've got a few questions before I start laying down any real groundwork with the trip.

What's the go with cars? I know you HAVE to have insurance to drive there, but is it practical/cheap to get around in a car versus buses? Here in Australia it's pretty difficult to get to place to place because public transport generally isn't very good and there's no inter-connecting trains between major cities, and I know the States is very similar. If a car is more practical, does /trv/ have any recommendations on something easy to fix or reasonably reliable? A Ford Crown Victoria is my current choice but that's only a vague pick and I'll probably consult /o/ as well.

Is it difficult to find the sort of work backpackers do i.e. shitkicking jobs for cash in hand, farmwork, etc?

Any recommendations on a route? I'm currently thinking of a U shape from New York through Texas and up through California to Seattle, because I have a friend staying in Calgary around the same time I'd be going. A pit-stop in Florida (which is obviously a bit out of the way) would also be good, but I enjoy hiking and nature so any of the forests, national parks or greatest hits would be good choices too.

What's crossing the border into Canada like for a visa holder? Do I require a visa to enter and leave Canada? The USA and Australia have a visa waiver agreement that I'm eligible for but I'm unsure about leaving and re-entering the States.

Better check your visa waiver. You can't be there for a few months.
>>
>>1231209
Visa waiver applies for three months but I was thinking maybe twice that length, if not four months at least.

Cocaine really is pretty amazing in Colombia, and super cheap too. You just have to have the right connections to get it- the average gringo gets ripped off and given shitty coke just like you get in the US.
>>
>>1231194
That's exactly what I would want to avoid. I'm tall and white as fuck. I'd stick out like a sore thumb in a place like that.
Any advice?
>>
>>1231204
Well the places with the best coke - colombia/brazil - also happen to have some of the hottest women in the world, who like tall white guys, so...

Just get on tinder when you're there, get a local girlfriend, get her to get it for you. I ended up meeting a girl that confessed to me after a week that she was a big coke-head, so it just naturally lead that way. However, lots of them will be turned off if you talk about doing it, given the amount of hell they've seen it cause.

Hi all,
Planning on visiting Reykjavic in June for 6 days with cousin.
Any recommendations for places to visit during the stay, especially orientated to food and drink :)
Also regarding sleeping arrangements, what would be the best option for just a room? Maybe airbnb?

Thanks

I'm heading in june as well. I would do a hotel instead of AirBnB because AirBnB kinda fucks with locals. Either way it will be a little pricey in reykjavik so might as well go with hotel.
>>
Rent a car
Drive to North (about 1-3 hours depends on how far round you go)
See better Northern Lights,
See Whales cheaper than near the capital
Ride Tiny horses
Visit the other Blue Lagoon. I forget what it's called, but it's cheaper and less crowded.
See some amazing waterfall (Largest in Europe I think)
Maybe do a trek to the big ass volcano in the middle.

I'm travelling back to London from South Korea in June and my flight has a 16 hour overnight stopover in New Delhi airport. Can anyone who's been before tell me if theres anywhere cheap in/ near the airport I could go try catch some sleep?

if you aren't willing to Tom Hanks it at the airport for sixteen hours spend a bit of cash on somewhere nice otherwise it will be beyond shitty and you'll leave far more stressed and hate filled than you would be if you stayed in the airport.

What time do you arrive and depart?

IGI is actually quite a nice airport, but the security lines can get hectic in the evening and early morning. If I were you, I'd ensure that I get back to Terminal 3 with at least three hours to spare.

Having said that, there are a number of lodging options right nearby. While I've never stayed at any of the hotels in AeroCity, the streets on the way from the airport into South and Central Delhi are lined with international chains. I would have to imagine rates are typically under $100 per night.

If you don't mind taking public transportation or a prepaid taxi, then you can get to Paharganj in about 25 minutes from the airport if you're arriving before probably 6am. A decent private room there (air-conditioning, shower, big bed, etc) will run $10-$25, but you'll be a target for every tout and con artist on the street.

To be frank, there are probably tons of reasonably priced options near the airport. As somebody who lived in Delhi for a year and a half and has been to India seven times, I wouldn't think twice about ducking out to get some air and a room on a connection. However, if you're a relatively inexperienced traveler or have never dealt with a developing country before, there's a decent chance you could get turned around.

I've been teaching English in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for a few months now, and while I enjoy it and the pay's decent I've got a lot of free time and was thinking about trying to pick up some copy writing or proofreading work as that's what I did before teaching. I've tried a few websites and not come up with much, was wondering if anyone knows any good sites to visit or other ways to find freelance writing work in Vietnam (or any other non-English speaking country).

So I'm not being selfish: feel free to ask me anything about teaching or living in Saigon.

Any BRfags around?

My gf is trying to convince me to take a trip to Brazil. I've never been before, and I know things can be kind of dicey there. Is there a general go/no-go area that I can stick to?

I've been all over the world by the way. I'm used to some sketchy situations. I was detained by secret police in China for taking photos of a political demonstration, and was near a double murder in Johannesburg.

I'm just not trying to get murdered/raped/robbed by any degenerate huefags.

>Implying the reason they can't afford to get by is businesses adjusting prices to meet the demands of tourists

>Implying these businesses aren't a huge employer of people in Barcelona and aren't profiting hugely because of the huge labour surplus due to the economic crisis.

>plebs blame people who come to appreciate the culture of their city instead of the policies which have led to the current labour surplus.

Thus we can see from the low level intelligence or integrity of the lower classes that the Spanish Anarchist communes of the 30s were doomed to fail.

if you had to spend 50 hours flying and in airports, and you didn't get any in flight meals, what food would you bring with you?
7 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
protein bars and fruit bars.
full cooked meal for the first flight, i mean even in high temperature some well cooked stew with rice can last a few hours.
my trusty empty water bottle, maybe i would try to bring more than one.
salami sandwiches.
banana (i do not care if it turns brown)
apple
and try to hide all, cause you're not supposed to travel with food anywhere (though they never ever checked me, not even in singapore or taiwan or usa where they were harrassing others about their food).

also i would try to get some big fried chicken or a large steak during a transfer.

hell, i'd be in panic. i don't eat much, but i freak out if i don't have access to food and drinkwater.

Although that's not the best recipe for that.
Normally you add all sorts of nuts/raisins/dried fruits to it
It's sweet, contains fat, many other nutritients and never gets spoiled (I could leave it for a month outside of a fridge and it was still good) - it's the best travelling food

what do pilots and flight crew eat?

Okay guys, in less than one month I'll be in Iran for 30 days and I have basically no knowledge about this beautiful country.

Therefore I have some questions:

1. How expensive is Iran? Can I survive a month of Iran with 1000-1500€ and still see everything I want to see?

2. How do I find cheap accommodation? I read that hostels are pretty much non-existent. AirBnB? Couchsurfing? Try to stay with locals I meet (which is difficult for me, as I'm quite introverted)?

3. How do I get Iranian Rials? There are different infos on the internet that are completely contrary on this topic. What I read is that ATMs don't work and so I have to bring enough cash (USD) to exchange at the airport or somewhere else. Is that true? If so, how do I get those big amounts of USD from cheaply? Until then I'll be in Laos, Thailand and Malaysia, so I won't be able to get money from my local bank back in Germany.

4. Any tips on what to bring? Or some hidden gems you want to share?

I hope I can get some help from you, anons! Cheers

Further questions, but not as relevant as those above:

5. Will I pay way more than what locals pay for the same thing? If so, how do I get around it?

6. Do they use toilet paper? If not, is it possible to get some from the supermarket?

7. Is it generally safe to travel into more rural areas on your own? I'm male, 19 and 1,75m. Don't plan to go to the boarder areas to Syria or Afghanistan though.
>>
>>1230720
When are you going to Iran? I'm going there in a couple of years.

1. Very cheap. For europeans and americans it would be extra cheap.

2. Iranians are southerners so they're very friendly and hospitable. Just stay with locals for free, no problems.

3. Yes, the best way is to exchange cash at the border or in airport. Unofficial esxchange rate may be better thah official. Welcome to black market dude.

3. South shore of Caspian sea has to be visited. The rest I want: Isfahan, Yazd, Shiraz, Persian gulf shore, Deshte-lut desert, Persepolis, old villages made of clay, zoroasrian shrines, maybe Mashhad. Tehran isn't so worth, it's completley modern city, I'm going to have not more than 1 day for it.

>>1230723
5. IDK. It would be the same problem for me, especially due to language barrier. Anyway, for a bed you probably will pay less than locals.

6. In moder areas, I suppose, it is like as Caucasus - toilet paper and bottles with water for washing are both, but in rural there could be only bottles.

7. The only unsafe region of Iran is Balochistan. Iran doesn't border with Syria.
>>
>>1230736
Thanks mate, this is how prepared I should be one month before arrival. Have you been there already or will this be your first time too?

1. Really, it's cheap? What I read is that there's not really a backpacking culture (and that's what I am), but really expensive hotels. How do you plan to stay there and with what cost do you calculate?

2. Yeah that's what I heard too, but I don't think it will be easy for me to get close to the locals...

3.-6. Nice, thanks a lot! Your bucket list sounds great, I need to figure out how much I can squeeze into one month.

7. Okay, this is awkward. Thanks for the correction.

NEW QUESTIONS!

- I'm really into street photography, but I guess I have to keep it to a minimum?
- What about Ramadan? During my last two days in Iran and the two weeks in Jordan after there will be Ramadan. I know that I won't be allowed to eat in public, but will I still be able to buy some food to eat on my own?
