Hey /trv/
So i want to go travelling for the first time, i'm thinking asia, maybe like thailand or cambodia i think, but by no means set on that. Probably around march kinda time. Oh, and im British, not the yob cunt type though, think more hippie.
Im a party head though, wanna hit all the rave islands, youth hostels, moon parties, that sorta gas. I mainly wanna meet new people, try to get my mind off a girl that im finding real hard to forget about..
Do you guys have any advice on where to go, what to do, any decent parties or places that have a good nightlife? Basically where can i go for a good time? (No hookers though)
Ive heard the big full moon parties can be a massive tourist trap, but there are smaller ones with better vibes elsewhere. I've heard of Eden, although i've no idea how good it is?
Anyway, any help and experience you guys can chip in is greatly appreciated. Much love
pic pretty much related

Thailand dude, with or without hookers (though they improve the experience). Just google what you are looking for and tack thailand at the end of it.

>fly half way around the world just to get trashed on a beach

Yea its pretty queer. He should just stop being a bitch and take a nice trip to Nana plaza and then to the beach where he can relax and think about his life.
Have any of you guys taught english abroad before? Share your experience

1 year in Incheon, South Korea - Great money, I saved about £5000k in a year without trying. Great year but wouldn't have wanted to stay longer.
2 years in Taipei, Taiwan - My favorite place, it really felt like home. It's a bit off the map and the girls are wild for foreigners. The money was good but not as good, and I saved enough for one or two trips abroad per year.
3 months (1 summer) in Beijing, China - Great money and a free apartment in Beijing. Was a good summer. China is a bit hardcore as a first destination in Asia. There is a huge difference in China between the high paying jobs and the low paying (I had one of the high paying gigs).
That was a 60 second lowdown. Any more info ask away.
>>1287980
Thanks for the lowdown!
How well is your english? Are you a native speaker? Did you go through education before? At what level did you teach?
How come China is hardcore as a first destination?

>How well is your english? Are you a native speaker? Did you go through education before? At what level did you teach?
I'm a British native speaker with a degree. I taught all levels from kids to adults.
>How come China is hardcore as a first destination?
It's hard to say why, but it just is. It caught me off-guard. Probably the fact that they really don't speak much English over there, you need to know basic Chinese to survive really, even to order food from McDonald's. And you need a VPN for everything, even Gmail or Google Maps. It's much less Westernized than Korea or Taiwan. China has more of a third world / cut-off country feeling (but they have an elite class of very rich people...)
So headed to S.E.A. in Jan. My plans include Vietnam. I know as an American I need a visa.
And to help my wallet and my sanity:
>Is it easier to obtain it while I'm in Bangkok or Cambodia (Phenm Pehn, or sihanoukville)?
>Or, try to get it here in the US?
(BTW the e-visa I've tried to get the passport photo right but the loading time to test the photo out loads continuously).
>>1287935
I did it in 2 hours in BKK. Turned 5 minutes before morning closing, paid for same day, came back at afternoon closing, collected visa. There are nearby photographers who can do the right photos but I usually have a collection of different backgrounds and sizes.

Not bad. Try to stop in Salzburg and Innsbruck. Both very charming.

Skip Bratislava, consider Regensburg and Nürnberg.
Just the very notion of 1 central European city makes me gag. Don't get me wrong, they are beautiful, essence of European achievement and empire, but all too familiar. To me.
At what age do people stop staying in hostels? It seems everyone there are in their early 20s
>tfw you finally have money to travel but now you're too old to stay in a hostel
Around the time they die. I'm 40 and still occasionally stay in hostels. And I don't feel old in them.
>>1292747
It's to do with attitude, not age. If you want privacy and comfort and get cranky if you have to rough it a bit, you're too old for a hostel. If you have a good attitude and you like being around new folk, and you can handle more basic accommodation, you won't have a problem.
30 is about the cutoff. Feels really cringey when old geezers are in the room.

Hey /trv/ I'm heading to California and the west coast for the first time this Saturday, and I'll be there for just over two weeks and back on the 10th. I'll be spreading my time across San Francisco, Santa Barbara (LA) and Yosemite. Can anyone recommend any places to see or things to try?
Are there any American staples I have to/ought to try before leaving? Things like 7/11, Dunkin' Donuts, Chipotle, Panera Bread, Chick Fil A etc.
>>1291748
If you're in California have an In n Out burger, the menu is amazing if you know how to order.
Get a 4x4 or a 3x3
Animal style everything even the fries.
Ask for a hat.
You're already spending time in good areas, enjoy them. and DONT GO TO HOLLYWOOD.
It's all a fucking tourist trap.
Enjoy SB, it's definitely one of my favorite places. Also try to hit up San Diego, there's some nice stuff to do there.
>>1291748
Just got back from Yosemite, it's gorgeous right now. Have fun.
Panera, Dunkin are shit though. Look for cheap, tiny, well-rated taquerias / bakers for the good shit. Food trucks too.
>>1291759
>4x4, 3x3, animal style
Looked at the menu, these seem pretty large portions for a single meal - is it manageable? I don't see myself eating out much as it's expensive, so if I had to pick one which would you recommend?
>Ask for a hat
Is this a freebie?
I'm visiting Universal Studios in LA, but other than that I'll take note of avoiding Hollywood. Any scams or tricks I should watch out for while I'm there?
How lenient are bartenders with serving foreigners? I'm 18, 6'6" and I'm aware that the drinking age is 21, but I don't know if I'll pass. Do bartenders tend to be more friendly to foreigners, less friendly or about the same? I'm white and I have a "posh" English accent so I don't know if that's a contributing factor.
when you travel do you take selfies /trv/? or do you try to stay out of the picture?
are selfies more "normie" and "fun"?
I hate taking photos in general, and am not a selfie person at all.
>>1291373
I take a lot of photos as I'm a /p/fag but usually only take 1 selfie and ask people not to take photos of me.
I usually just ask someone to take a picture of me with my camera. Selfies usually turn out terrible in all of my experiences
Sup /trv/, I'm going to Italy, Rome for about a month, and being the savvy guy that I am i'll be taking my laptop with me that has some porn on it (just in case, for those dark times when access to the internet isn't there and you really need to do the thing). Is my laptop going to be checked for porn when I arrive or leave?
Please just stay in your basement if you are going to be this idiotic.
Lol
Of course not op
Yes, your laptop will be checked to assess the porn tax you need to pay. Any porn produced outside the EU will be subject to import tariffs.
We're two 21 year olds going to Bali, What are some fun shit to do while over there?
>>1290019
dunno anon, buy me a ticket and let's be 3, we'll find something crazy to do together
I'm going there with my girlfriend and my brothers early october What can I expect. Also, Tips from people who've been there would be good
Anyone been, any stories? I just got my visa and will be arriving in yangon for a few days then heading out to bagan. Must see or do's, night life, hookers, tourist sights off the beaten path? Any info would help
No myanmar stories? Bumping
Myanmar girls are the prettiest I've ever seen. The only negatives is that it is a 3rd world country and they always wear sandals so their feet are usually dirty and not taken care of (I have a foot fetish).
I've been to Yangon, Mandalay and Bagan.
Literally any club you go to will have freelancers. They're usually by themselves.
Eat Mohingo, easily my favorite dish there
Anyone been to Ukraine visiting or moving there? Anyone met a Ukrainian woman?
inb4 you can't get laid in your own country, virginfag etc
I can get laid in my own country in the middle east but I'm of European origin and I'm more attracted to pure blooded white women with traditional family values, so either answer the question or gtfo
>>1289117
Laid in your own country? Goats don't count Ahmed.
>>1289118
>middle-east
>European origin
Clearly he's a Jew.
Yes, I was in Ukraine last week. Yes, I met Ukrainian women. Any more questions?
The idea of marrying a pure Slav maiden who wants nothing more in life than raising the spawn of 4chan NEETs and cooking blinis is just a very silly meme. That's just not what these societies are like. If you have money, you'll be attractive.
These are pictures from South Korean trip last July. I spent about a month in the country. My itinerary includes:
Jejudo
Seoul
JSA/DMZ
Pocheon
Donghae/Ulleungdo/Dokdo
Pohang/Gyeongju
Gwangju
Wando
Yeosu
Ask me if you have any question

First, Jejudo. I spent a week in that island. I tried to visit North, South, East, and West side of island

Anyone want to share awful London stories?
>>1288009
Please, do tell us why you dislike London so much.
>>1288012
Not OP, but it's more crowded than Hong Kong even in the lowest tourist season.
I live just outside London, been countless times, as well as well travelled especially around Europe. I second OP, it is AMAZINGLY shit for a European or any city desu...
