Greetings /trv/,
I'm planning a 35-day backpacking through Germany, Belgium and Netherlands and I create this route
Amsterdam - 4 days (only of those cities I know, I've been in Rijksmuseum, van Gogh museum, rode a bike, went to rld and lold shroom lmao, but I'll cross the Atlantic and I'll suffer from jet-lag)
Hague - 2 days
Rotterdam - 2 days
Antwerp - 2 days
Ghent-Bruges - 3 days
Brussels - 2 days
Maastricht-Liège-Aachen - 3 days
Bonn - 2 days
Cologne - 3 days
Düsseldorf - 2 days
Hannover - 3 days
Hamburg-Lübeck - 4 days
Bremen - 3 days
A long time ago I made a thread about Blue Banana and many people made repairs about Belgian leg, butI remember only about "stay only 2 days max in Brussels". I'm open for suggestions.

What is your question? I'm dutch, this trip looks good.
>>
>>1253927
I hope you'll visit ALL the breweries.
>>

I wouldn't agree with the 2 days in Brussel limit. If you like beer and nice places to drink it, you won't be bored in that city. Good museums too, and the cathedral is one of my favorites.

Otherwise, perhaps a bit too much time in Holland, but great plan, senpai.

Which city is better for travel: Paris or London?

They're basically the same city

London easily. Lots of flights that go everywhere and they are way cheaper than flights from Paris. Only downside is you need to go to faraway airports like Gatwick whilst cdg is easier to get to from Paris.

What do you usually take on your travels? I holiday five or six times a year and I always take the following with me.

>my cheap secondary phone (g4play)
>soundmagic earphones
>kindle
>10000 anker powerbank
>fuji x70 camera/no camera if I'm going somewhere a bit rougher.

Anything I should consider? This is pretty much the maximum amount of tech I am willing to take.

Is it a good time to move to Greece? I'm American and young.
37 posts and 6 images submitted.
>>
No.

Unless you speak Greek, or have some exceptional skill, you won't find work. Even then it is very difficult. Maybe you could get some work in one of the really really touristy destinations on Corfu or Rhodes, but that would only be a few months a year, the pay would be _awful_ and it serving cheap drinks to 18 year old Brits is nobody's idea of fun.

Where/why do you want to move there?

I speak some Greek, but just the basic stuff. I'm confident I can learn the language because it's similar to Spanish which I also speak.
>Maybe you could get some work in one of the really really touristy destinations on Corfu or Rhodes, but that would only be a few months a year, the pay would be awful and it serving cheap drinks to 18 year old Brits is nobody's idea of fun.
That's fine. If I can get any kind of work, it's all okay. I just want to BE there.

>Where/why do you want to move there?
Athens maybe. What do you advise? I want to live there because I love the place and the people and I want to help the country in any way I can.
>>
>>1252524
No, it's terrible.

>>1252524
You seem to know very little about a place you love.
You can't help them. You can't even help yourself right now.

I fear this thread may just devolve into shitposting, but I'm genuinely asking:

What's the deal with tipping in the US?

I live in the UK and the only places we ever tip are in nice restaurants or sometimes taxi drivers and delivery guys. I'm heading to America for a month next week. What sort of extra things should I be expected to tip? and how much?
99 posts and 7 images submitted.
>>
You're expected to tip everybody who provides a service. From waiters to hairdressers.

Most restaurants now suggest an amount to tip on the bill.
>>
Every restaurant with waiters will expect a tip of at least 15% or so every time no matter how shit the service. Other food places have started badgering you for tips too even if it's just a place where you order standing up, personally I don't enable that shit but I get nasty looks for it and lots of people will tip pretty much everywhere.

At worst if they get upset with you for not tripping just say some goofy stuff in your most exaggerated accent. Us burgers love funny English accents.
>>
>>1252472

I'm American and I usually tip between 5-15% on restaurant bills, depending on the quality of service and total.

Apparently that makes me cheap, and you're 'supposed' to tip 18-25% nowadays. Fuck that.

Only interactions I have on a regular basis which necessitate tips are eating out, getting my hair cut, and ordering food for delivery. I don't tip for carry-out or Uber.

Hi /trv/, serious question here.

I'm a Canadian planning a solo trip to Hong Kong. I have a condition that requires me to take medication daily. In order to get the medication though I have to get blood testing done every month to make sure that the medication isn't interfering with my white blood cell count.

Does anyone on this board have any experience with getting medication and testing done abroad? Also other tips regarding Hong Kong welcome.

Thanks.

You are going to hk for a month?
>>
>>1248164

That's my plan, give or take a few days. But naturally I was wondering how I could find a way to stay longer.
>>
>>1248163
I take medication for epilepsy but my blood tests are 6 months apart to check the effect on my liver and medicine levels. I'm going to Japan in a few days. It shouldn't be much of a problem. Sometimes I don't get my blood test on time but my levels are fine.

I'd say just take the blood test the day before or so and maybe get a few extra pills on hand just in case, and then take a blood test as soon as you're back home.

Have any suggestions on areas I might visit? I'm a native English speaker, but I'm very slowly learning a bit of Hindi. I'll at least know halfassed Hindi before my trip.

Additionally, what are things I should be on guard against as a solo traveler?

Where in the country are you going? Its like saying youre going to america or europe.

Unless youre going to small villages, you really dont need to learn any indian languages. You will be able to get around with just english. India isnt really a place you need to be scared, the worst thing that can happen to you is getting your stuff stolen while you arent paying attention or getting ripped off.

I would honestly suggest south india, goa & kerala arent the in your face image you see of india and there arent idiots trying to sell you stuff all the time at tourist destinations like they do in the north. Again it all depends on what you want to see and do. If you want dirty hippies and dead bodies in the river then do the typical backpacker shit in india.
>>
I was hoping to just kinda travel all over India for a bit, maybe spend a couple weeks to a month in certain places and then move on.

What is the typical backpacker shit?
>>
>>1243630

I was just there, typical backpacker shit is Rishikesh, Manali,, Pavarti Valley Gokarna..India is the best. My favourite cities were Varanasi, Mumbai, Kolkata,Jaipur

So I got convicted for battery (punched a guy once and some of his teeth fell out). I didn't recieve a prison sentence, nor a fine, nor a criminal record. I got community service. But no criminal record, like I said.

So my concern is whether countries are aware of that conviction (does it pop up when they scan your passport) and if they are, will that hinder my travels?
21 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Fucking chill, nobody cares
>>
I was adjudicated guilty of several felonies when I was fifteen years old.

My record won't be sealed until I turn 30.

Between dozens of countries, the only time it has ever come up was when I was trying to cross into Canada - a country which is notoriously stringent with its entry requirements, even for American citizens.

When I was sent to secondary screening, an Immigration and Customs officer printed off the entire charge sheet that had been drawn up against me - which looks very bad - and said, "Holy moly, man."

I explained how old I was and that the offenses took place almost a decade ago. I also told him I was a graduate student and have worked and volunteered extensively. The fact that all that happened when I was a juvenile seemed to work, since he stamped a piece of paper that let me enter the country.

To relate my experience to your situation: I sincerely doubt that your issue will ever come up, especially considering that you're not obligated to answer "yes" to questions about convictions (again, out of dozens of countries, Canada is the only one that ever even asked).

No, your "history" will not show up when your passport is scanned - that'd be preposterous.

Some countries, like Canada, can receive information about U.S. criminal histories quickly upon request, since they have information sharing programs in place with America. Nevertheless, they still have to send off a request for approval and cannot access records just by looking at your passport.

Sup /trv/

I dont travel, ever, because I've been poor forever, but I do online shit now, and I dont yet make a lot of money, I made 400 this month for example, its exponential, and my currently quality of life is really fucking awful

so, I want to know a place I can fuck off to for a few months until I make a real amount of money, somewhere fun hopefully, that doesnt cost a shitload of money

but all the websites giving hotel deals and shit are just kikes offering standard prices I get here in australia, so should I just go there and find a hotel or what?

Make me a plan /trv/ be my hero

Hi everyone. I would like to know where i can find a decent free, english studied, german university for internal students

>>
>>1251835
You can't. I saved you the trouble and looked myself and I can say they don't exist.

Oh, you found a tuition free school? That's nice. Have fun paying 20.000€ in rent, fees, etc. You also need visas and registrations and a bunch of other shit and need 8.000€ capital up front to prove you won't go homeless after 2 weeks. You also need Abitur and a bunch of other German related education requirements which aren't offered everywhere in the world. High school diploma? Not good enough? 3rd world education? Try again. Just don't bother. German universities are already flooded with ignorant foreigners looking for "free" shit.

And judging by the way you write, I can instantly tell you're from a 3rd world shit hole looking for handouts and gibmedats like everyone else who comes to Germany.
>>
>>1251846
Friend of mine was 18 when he came here from some African country, went thr same class as me. Was 24 when he finished school. Not Abitur, just the normal education most germans have. Meaning he went from middle school esque schools to "Berufsschulen" which are high schools centered around economics or othet topics. He now studies in University at age 25.
>>
>>1251835
My friends doing this as an 'Erasmus' student. Might be worth googling.

Wether she's paying or not I don't know. I gather it's an exchange student thing.

Pretty sure the classes are in German though as you would expect.

I'm into hiking through mountains/nature but also in seeing the numerous castles and buildings in the cities.

If you've been there, could you give me some good tips. I've already done plenty of research myself but maybe missed some "hidden gems"

I'm also Asian, but grew up in the western Europe so if anyone knows if people will hate me for it, tell me please.

Can I be redpilled on US cities? What's worth it and what isn't? Seattle caught my eye but I want /trv/s opinion

>>
Also what i'm looking at is Minneapolis and Boston
>>
I live in Seattle so I'm slightly biased but I love it. Come in the summer, though. We have something for everyone: mountains and great nature nearby, pretty nice beer (at least for the states), a fantastic clubbing and bar scene, great food from tons of cultures, and tons of things to do.

You may find the people slightly unfriendly, there's a phenomenon called the "Seattle freeze" which is definitely a thing. In general people, outside of a few sets of scenarios, deeply prefer to be left alone. I don't think people are really rude, if you ask them a question they'll be happy to answer, but it would be very hard to strike up a conversation.

I don't know much about Minneapolis, I've only been there once and I was young. The mall of America was pretty cool but I don't know what else is even there, I don't have a very high opinion of the Midwest in general. Haven't been to Boston but you'll probably get pretty polarized responses, might be fun to visit.

Seattle sounds nice. I'll probably choose there anyway

So with Based Poland sticking up to the EU and refusing to take refugees, ive decided this is one of the only countries left in Europe that I would want to travel too... I also plan to hike the Camino in Spain, but i think i will stop in Poland for a week or two before.

What are some things to do while im there? ive never really considered visiting before, i dont know much about Poland, besides a bunch of my friends from back in Detroit were of polish decent. How many people speak English there? Are polish people accepting of Americans? What are some places I should visit and things I should do? I want to visit a white European country and support them with my tourists dollars.
