*Info on prostitution*
Please try to refrain from asking questions about prostitution.
Japan's sex industry is almost completely inaccessible to foreigners who do not speak Japanese.
What is available can generally be found in the following links

*Note about the JR Pass*
Many people ask about whether or not the JR Rail Pass is worth it. It depends on your itinerary.
Plug your itinerary into Hyperdia to determine ticket costs, then compare to the below JR Pass options:
>7 day Pass: 29,110¥
>14 day Pass: 46,390¥
>21 day Pass: 59,350¥
Please check the /trv/ sticky before asking questions. It's filled with links to great resources, many of them specific to Japan travel.

I only went to Japan a month ago but I'm already thinking about my next trip, whenever that will be.
I went to most of the major cities and I'm imagining exploring off the beaten trail. I just discovered the Oki Islands and they look quite incredible. I could imagine spending a week exploring them. Has anyone been?
Kagoshima also looks pretty cool. I imagine you could spend some time exploring Kyushu.
Anyway, not making any plans just enjoying the imagination.
Are there any cool out-of-the-way places you guys have been to?

>The average height for Japanese women is 5 feet 2 inches, while their American counterparts average in at 5 feet four inches. The height of women runs the gamut, but tall is generally considered to be around 5 foot six or 5 foot seven.
I'm 5,8 and looking at a foreign exchange program this fall, will I be disappointed?

Hello /trv
I was wondering how far north you have reached and especially how (place share latitude). Maximum is obviously 90°N
So I will start with 69°N Town of Alta, Noway.
Took a flight to Oslo, train to Narvik and a 9h bus drive to Alta https://youtu.be/wzFMJyzzIlI
>>1260253
Edinburgh, 56°N. Not very far North, desu.
Furthest south? Ensenada, Mexico. 31°N
>tfw middle latitudes
>>1260253
Orkney, which is 59 Degrees north
>>1260272
OP here. How did you reach the orkney islands? Small plane i guess? Starting from?
Say you have $1,200 to spend on one week in a European city, which would you choose? and why?
*Can not be Paris or London
*Must have an international airport
Budapest...possibly the only city i would consider spending a week in.
>>1260239
Interesting choice.
>>1260235
Geneve, but your money will be long gone before you reach day 3
Next month, I'll be spending two and a half weeks in Europe. My plane arrives in Athens, Greece and departs back to the states from Zagreb, Croatia. Outside of that, none of my trip has been planned.
Where do I go? (Italy is tempting but I'd prefer to stick to Balkans unless anyone thinks I have time to get a good Italian experience)
>>1253755
Well it's a big bloody place with not the best infrastructure in places, so bear that in mind. That being said there's so much cool shit, for places though i'd recommend maybe kotor or durmitor regions in montenegro, dubrovnik and rest of croatian coast, mostar and sarajevo in bosnia. That way you can hit some of albania and greece on the way up, tirana is supposed to be very nice, as is meteora and vikos gorge in greece, which would all kind make a nice line on the way to zagreb.
>>1253841
Any places I should definitely skip?
>>1254319
Kosovo
Bulgaria except few notable places
Albania if you don't have a lot of time
Visit Belgrade, holy fuck i didn't expect to have a blast there but it was very nice
Hey /trv/, my gf and I are going to Edinburgh in September for a week. She wants to go to the Highlands, I kinda do too but I would be content to stay in Edinburgh for the week.
Are the Highlands worth going to or is it a meme? Are they easy to get around without a car?
I was in Edinburgh and I also hiked a portion of the Great Glen Way along Loch Ness, the stretch I did was around Invermoriston. I absolutely loved both, and I would highly recommend both. Spend some time in Edinburgh because it's a nice city, but give yourself a couple of days in the Highlands too. Scotland was one of my favorite places I've been to. Getting around the Highlands without a car would probably be pretty difficult, I guess you could manage it with some planning though.

Not OP but have a question anyway
I'm from America and have been to most of the our Western national parks. So I've seen a lot of dramatic mountains and nature and all that, and I do love it. Would the Highlands be impressive to me? Or is it just impressive for the British who don't have nature like we do in America?

Not sure if condescending American troll or serious.
what city has the convenience and offerings of nyc but the weather of southern california?
adelaide, sa
>>1264123
I think Buenos Aires is more like Paris in California than New York.
If there was a place that was as good as New York but with better weather everyone would move there. That said, if you want New York with cooler summer try London. If you want New York with warmer winters, try Tokyo.

Hello anons,
I am leaving on a road trip at the end of the month, on which I am driving from the Netherlands to Spain via France.
In France I'd like to detour for some hiking / wild camping, can anyone recommend any Parc Naturel along pic related route ?
I was thinking of stopping in Parc Naturel de Morvan, Livradois-Forez or du Pilat .
Any help would be appreciated. I've never driven on continental Europe so trying to plan as much as possible in advance.
Yes I speak French, and yes I know the legalities for road users (triangle, hi-viz, beam deflectors etc)
>>1262007
thank you, I'm reading the thread now.
just to clarify a little, my end destination is Spain, so for my stop off in France I'm really looking for somewhere a little quieter (yeah right in July) with a short hike in as it'll be a late start.
Scenic drive is a bonus, as is not too much of a detour from pic related route.
Bumping this because I promised I'd make a post when I could and in the meantime it can't disapear
How do you know if a room/apartment for rent you've found - let's say, on Craiglist - is not a fraud? Owners usually ask you to pay the deposit in advance, before your arrival: how do you get the guarantee they're not stealing your money through the internet?
>>1265435
There is no guarantee, but you could always google the place/renter to see if anything suspicious comes up.
>Owners usually ask you to pay the deposit in advance, before your arrival
to me that means an obvious scam.
>>1265450
I'd add googling the pics to that as well
Miami or L.A.?
Montreal
Belize

Neither
Is there anywhere in the world which has both lovely comfortable heat and that nice crispy slightly biting air at the same time?
>>1265130
during the same season?
>>1265130
Are you asking if there's a place that is hot and cold at the same time?
>>1265130
If you mean at the same time, try the Middle East or North Africa. Coming from a guy that grew up in Florida, it gets a little toasty in those parts but I don't die because I'm not a poopdick pussy. Of course, in the evening, it gets nice and cool, so I throw on a couple of sweaters and do absolutely nothing because dunecoons don't know how to party
How long would it take to backpack this route?
>>1264997
by what means of transportation? and by doing what stuff along the way?
>>1264997
>Random line missing all good spots
>Shitty question without info
Sage in every field but the captcha
According to this app the distance is about 3713 kilometres. Let's make it 3720 tho just to be sure..
A person walks an average of 5km/h but since you will have some packaging and probably get tired I'd say 4km/h.
3720/4 = 930
930 hours, which is about 39 days (38.75 to be exact)
So the route itself would take 39 days if you're walking the whole time. Now you decide how much sleep and food you want (:
How much would it cost to live in Thailand, say Pattaya, for one year?
Comfortably, say a budget of $1K USD a month. Pattaya is gross though, I'd choose literally pretty much anywhere else.
>>1264853
I'm planning on going with a budget of 5k a week
>>1264880
You could live in NYC for that kind of money
To that guy that made a thread about wanting to share a beer with random people on a hiking trail: please dont do it on a biking trail either you creepy motherfucker.
I didn't see this thread but what the fuck is creepy about sharing brews at campsites?
>>1264671
Not at campsites, but offering beers to random people at random points along random trails.
>>1264677
for ... sale??? people shared lots of booze on rides in key west but we called it key weird for good cause

I'm curious to know if there are any hard borders in the EU zone? How likely am I to be stopped driving a foreign plated car?
There's nothing, just a sign saying the country name.
Usually there are no borders at all, but due to G20 Germany has closed some of its borders for now and it can take several hours to cross them.
I've only ever been stopped at the Zürich-Germany border while on a bus and on trains from Germany into France and Italy into Switzerland. It is not that I am south american or anything like that, they check everyone regardless
