With Jasper being shelved as Malachite, the crew had to unfuse her to get Lapis back too, it was two characters shelved together so both had to return together (well jasper falling in a crack bought them some time).

But with Jasper's corruption they could shelve her for as long as they want to since they have a valid reason to do so, whether it be till its time for her arc or the show finale or whatever.

It'd be stupid to shelve a character and then bring them back to do nothing...but then again this is SU and that happened to Lapis and Centi...so now idk if I should be hyped for Jasper's return. SU basically shelves characters and brings them back for like 1-3 episodes and then shelves them again (Lapis is about to be re-shelved).

So you're getting mad about characters being shelved and treated poorly, but don't think that people dislike them because of shitty writing that always either flanderizes them (especially with Garnet and Peridot) or makes them seem like needlessly shitty people because their issues don't get explored in depth (Lapis, Jasper, and Pearl)? Because that's the main problem. The crew obviously cares about all the shittily written main gems and wants us to too even if they don't know how to handle their development.

Rebecca is a huge fag for Garnet and probably thinks that what she's done with her character so far was ingenious considering that she called her the most developed character, but that doesn't mean she actually is a good or well developed character.
And Rebecca has made it clear that she loves Jasper's character after talking about and drawing her so much since last year and getting as eager as she did to draw her during the recent stream, but that doesn't mean the Jasper-Amethyst arc was well written or showcased the stuff about her character that she has talked about good enough.

It's just bad writing. Accept that the entire show will probably be like this and get over it, no waifufag can really brag about their waifu being more well written than any other one because they all suffer from wasted potential thanks to the writer's incompetence. Garnet is probably permanently fucked but Lapis, Pearl, Jasper, and Bismuth are at the least guaranteed more meaningful focus soon so whatever

Pearl got away with raping her friend FAR too easily and is always wasting episodes with her very selfish "MUH ROSE" lifestyle that isn't exactly gone.

Jasper is the other half of a rapist since she was picking on her weak as fuck teammates.

The characters that DO get ignored seem better off that way in comparison to how everyone else was developed.

I think the crew really likes the ideas behind all the characters, and all the little traits and headcanons they come up for them in the writing room. However they can't translate those cool things properly to paper, and it comes out a bit jumbled. It's too bad because the ideas behind the characters are actually very good and interesting. A former slave that learned to become her own person, and was self-taught in various forms of combat and technological prowess, and had a lovelorn relationship with someone she was subconsciously regarding as her master, which she subsequently lost and so now she feels lost and useless? The important thing about having a likeable character is to give them relatable struggles to go through. Give them flaws and imperfections that they learn to live with and slowly come to terms with.

It is definitely because of weak links in the crewniveese that Rebecca allows too much freedom and control. Rebecca is a very smart and thoughtful person and I think if she was a better leader the show wouldn't have as much wasted potential as it does. Like you said, the concepts behind all of the gems and their issues are very original and interesting, but the execution of their character development that should be showcasing these interesting concepts is either done horribly 99% of the time or not at all. And I think it can be blamed on the other crew members not thinking in the same direction as Rebecca and fucking everything up with their poor writing skills and whatever stupid unplanned shit they want to throw into the plot.

Sugar really should focus on having more serious, good writers rather than just artists. It doesn't have to go full-plot, but writers who take the characters and the show seriously and are capable of writing good jokes, and not writers who see it as a wacky meme show with wacky aliens that act retarded and who throw in internet meme jokes in hopes that people laugh. I think the only character who's been squandered at all is Garnet recently, but that might be because the OG trio have taken a backseat for the last season or two, and as the most lowkey of the three she took the brunt of it. I think the next few seasons will be really good for all of them, especially with Rebecca's slow burn method of writing. Otherwise, I think their development has been has had good pacing and been well done so far.

In my experience, my most-noted stuff wasn't based so much on subject matter, but who found it: somebody with a huge following liked a particular thing so only that thing got a bunch of attention.
