Woke from what, specifically? The web and smartphones aren't inherently evil. However, there are evils in the system. I'd encourage anyone who hasn't to read Jaron Lanier for a non-Luddite take on the social harm of tech.

Most every app and internet capable device has some form of telemetry (spying code), win 10, firefox, ect to record what you click, type, say, Ect.
Feds have technology that can tap into this on a large scale.
Your phone can let others know where you are without GPS by simple means of proximity to other devices.

The masses are dumbed down, pacified and distracted.

The means to monitor the majority of communication and nullify dissent is present.
Our future was sold for the elite and wealthy before we had a chance.
