Bea is beautiful after all
Tonight I dream of witches.

>The incident with the death cult.
>Bea had told me the whole story after the fact, but I had not gone to the mines with them.
>It had seemed like a better idea to walk Germ home that night than to stay and crowd Gregg and Angus' apartment further. I had stayed at his place.
>By the time I saw her the next morning it was all over.
>That had been a week ago.
>Missing persons reports had begun cropping up. Friends and neighbors all vanished on the same night.
>The media was getting curious. Reporters had cropped up sniffing for answers.
>The six of us knew where they had gone, but who would believe us. And how did we know there were not others?
>One face had not joined the list tacked to every shop window, street lamp, and entire sides of buildings. One even I hadn't guessed at.
>I walked into the Ol' Pickaxe that morning to find the store in chaos. A can of white paint had been thrown against one wall. The display case of hunting knives was tipped over and smashed. Nuts and bolts littered the floor.
>I stared in shock as I watched Bea throw the cash register against one wall. It exploded in a shower of change and greenery.
>She glanced over to me, her breath coming in ragged gasps.
>Her eyes were wild. Unhinged. Anger and pain and sadness warred in those eyes.
>I opened my mouth but she exploded before I could get out the words.
>"That effing bastard! That utter effing bastard!"
>Bea only spoke about one person with that kind of venom. But destroying the store?
>"I should have known. I should have effing known!"
>Her fingers shook as she pulled out a cigarette and lit it. She took a long drag. It did little to stop her shaking fingers or quell the rage.
>"He loads all the responsibilities onto me. Makes me give up EVERYTHING I wanted to do in life. To keep us afloat. To keep us in that shitty little apartment. And then he does this!"
>She whirled, snatched up a roll of duct tape, and sent it flying into a display of spray paint. Cans toppled.
>>11550348
>"Bea, come on, it can't be that bad." I tried to calm her down but only stoked the flame higher.
>"You wouldn't say that if you knew what he has done!" She screamed at me, voice tearing at the edges.
>"Then tell me!" I snapped back.
>And as if she had no more energy to maintain the flames of anger, she was falling to the floor, tears spilling over as if a dam had just broken.
>She held out her hands to me. Like a child demanding a hug.
>Of course I gave it to her.
>She cried silently, shaking with silent sobs as my shirt slowly grew damper.
>I just let her. She needed this. The stress had finally boiled to a breaking point with this latest affront from her father.
>Eventually there were no tears left. The cigarette had burned all the way to the filter, leaving a char line on the linoleum.
>She mumbled something into my shirt.
>I told her I didn't understand.
>She pulled away from me enough to pull her mouth free of wet shirt fabric.
>"Dad never came home."
>I'm not the smartest tool in the shed, but I knew instantly what she was saying.
>"That doesn't mean-"
>"That's exactly what it means." She hissed, anger bubbling back towards the surface. But it died after those few words.
>"Why didn't you say something sooner?"
>"I... I was just hoping... that it wouldn't be true. I didn't want to think..." Her voice was ripped and torn.
>"We have to tell someone." I stated. She shook her head. Then nodded.
>"I know..."
>"Do you want me to-"
>"No." Her voice was firm, insistent. "I'll tell Mae's aunt. She'll add him to the list."
>For a long time, silence reigned. Bea made no move to detach herself.
>"Can you..." She whispered, working her way through the words slowly. "Can you stay at my place tonight? The apartment... is so empty. Lifeless." A dry, sour chuckle. "I never thought it would be harder to sleep without him snoring like a chainsaw."
>"Sure Bea. You've got a comfy couch." I assured her. She smiled, sadly.
>She knew I would help pick up the pieces.

>"It's all about getting the gelatin ratio just right." Lori was explaining.
>Mae, Bea, myself, and her were all sitting at a table in Taco Buck. Wrappers of a meal already finished scattered everywhere.
>"You add too much gelatin and the fake eye is too hard. It takes too much pressure for the knife to cut into it and it doesn't look real. Too little and it won't hold its shape."
>She was babbling on about horror movie effects again. Her favorite topic, but not one entirely suited for the dinner table.
>But considering everything that had happened in the last few weeks, we were all a little less sensitive to stuff like that.
>"Timing the blood just right is crucial too. You can't just fill the fake eye with blood like a water balloon. It never looks right if you do it that way."
>Lori always looked so alive when she was talking about blood and gore and horror.
>It was a passion being freely expressed.
>Bea envied her passion. Mae coveted her direction in life. And I just found the topic interesting.
>I used the moment Lori paused to take a drink to contribute.
>"Do they do something similar for that melting face effect?"
>Bea looked disgusted but the little mouse perked up and had to swallow quickly to keep from splattered us all with soda in her haste to answer.
>"Oh, totally! They build a model of the actor's head out of gelatin, paint it all up, and then aim a bunch of heat lamps on it. After that you just speed up the footage. Bam! Melting face."
>"That's cool," Mae chimed in with a teasing tone to her voice. "But I think we'd better talk about something else. Bea is turning green over there."
>Lori and I laughed. Bea affected annoyance, but she was trying not to smile too.
>The conversation turned in a different direction.
>But the light in Lori's eyes didn't die.
For some reason I've always liked winter clothing
>>11565301
Winter clothing is the best. So comfy and warm and fluffy.
>>11565162
Oof forgot to say that was pretty good
>>11565357
It wasn't my best, but I gave it a shot anyways. I've always wished there was more character development for Lori.
>>11565404
You have no idea how pissed i am at the amount of 3 to 5 sentence long conversations between Mae and Lori.

probably only 1 of the good things to come out of that "dating sim" so far
>>11565645
The artist is pretty cool.
>>11565645
I'm still confused as to why the LitW devs asked the NitW dev's permission on making it. If it's a free product doesn't it not matter? I get if they're trying to be polite or something, but I'd honestly try to keep it on the downlow. Then again, no smash...
>>11566159
I just want to hug her and never let go
>>11566570
You can't have a dating sim staring a bunch of twenty-somethings and just tip-toe around the boning. I mean, I get that not everyone is going to jump into the sack or anything, but come on! It's going to happen! It's natural! Dancing around it is just going to make the end result awkward to watch.
>>11565645
What is this "dating sim"?
This is the first time I've heard of this.
>>11566953
Love in the Woods: a dating sim with no sex.
I'm still gonna try it though. I'm too sentimental to avoid any extensions on NitW.
>>11566953
Dating sim for nitw, which might be dead on arrival because the dev came out and said that there will be nothing sexual in it. Defeats the purpose of a dating sim. I want to date, love, and fug Bea.
>>11547913
>tumblr game
>>11567509
>Defeats the purpose of a dating sim
Love Plus is a very popular dating sim with no sex.
>>11567563
literally never heard of it
>>11567563
>>11567573
This honestly. We've been over this before and making a dating sim about young adults in their 20s in which they are sterile robots with no libido is disgusting
>>11567777
Quads of virginity
>>11567777
Lucky jackpot quads have spoken. Game is shit
I wouldn't like the idea of a dating sim personally, just because I like the way things left off at the end of the game...
I would however just like a slice of life game. Something super comfy.

>>11582386
Hot.
>>11582445
there's nothing in-game, but according to scott that was because the original scene that revealed it got cut, and it was such common knowledge for the devs at that point that they forgot to put in another reference

I remember this image. Now I read it in Mr. Regular's voice ever since he did the NitW analysis.
It's almost officially Autumn, /nitwg/.
Are you ready to get comfy?
>Cleaning up the Ol' Pickaxe didn't take as long as I had first suspected.
>The paint on the wall was water-based and everything else was a matter of picking up and sorting.
>Only the register was a total write-off, but there wasn't much to be done about that.
>The rest of the day was spent attending to the details.
>Mae's aunt was notified. I went with Bea, of course, but all I really did was sit around the waiting room feeling intimidated.
>And of course there were reporters who came snooping around for details.
>Molly shooed them away and drove both of us home to make sure we weren't disturbed.
>She told us she's station someone to watch the building, just in case.
>A lot of new faces were in town and she wasn't too keen on it. Even with the extra help the state had transferred in.
>Bea and I only half-listened but I thanked Molly as we got out of the car.
>We didn't say much for the rest of the night.
>I made dinner. Just pasta and tomato sauce.
>The television lent a kind of white noise to the otherwise silent apartment.
>At some point darkness descended on Possum Springs.
>Eventually Bea got up off the couch and walked to her room. She left the door open, but never turned on a light.
>I stared at the tv for a while longer before switching it off and collapsing onto the couch.
>I was worried about her, but I couldn't find the words to comfort her.
>It wasn't like there was a "Sorry to hear your dad was in a murder cult and you trapped him in a mine to die" Hallway greeting card.
>There probably wasn't any easy answers.
>I just had to be patient and there for now.
>Sleep came slowly but it eventually caught even my spinning mind.
>BANG BANG BANG!
>It sounded like someone was ramming their shoulder into the door.
>I woke up confused, disoriented. The clock showed three am.
>BANG BANG!
>I bolted to my feet and stared into the darkness towards the door.
>>11597751
>A light flicked on behind me, giving the room a dim illumination as the bulb stretched as far as it could.
>I glanced back. A familiar silhouette stood in the door frame. There was something odd about it.
>BANG!
>One last pounding on the front door and then silence.
>Not even the sound of footsteps walking away.
>"Kitchen." Bea's voice whispered towards me. "Drawer next to the sink."
>I followed the directions. Found the large cooking knives inside.
>The cleaver felt odd in my hand. Heavier than it should. Almost as heavy as the sense of dread filling the gloom.
>I waited just around the corner from the door.
>Cold tiles and adrenaline turned my toes to ice.
>Minutes passed like eternities.
>But the door failed to shudder under fresh blows.
>Finally I couldn't take the strain of waiting any longer.
>I padded to the door and pressed my eye to the peephole.
>Nothing.
>Just an empty hallway distorted by the forced perspective.
>I unlocked and slowly opened it, knife held at the ready.
>Still nothing, even as I opened the door wide.
>I peeked out. The hallway remained silent and still.
>I turned around, almost ready to laugh. Some dumb kid or prank. And here I was ready to kill some-
>My eyes fell on the door.
>I began to shiver as ice cascaded down my spine.
>A Polaroid was taped there.
>A shot taken from a distance away. Of the front of the apartment building. As Bea and I were getting out of Molly's police car.
>Just two words written at the bottom in red marker.
>Goat's Blood.
>Someone had wanted to make sure we knew they had found us though.
>I took the picture down and quickly shut the door.
>I locked it and dragged a chair over to wedge under the handle.
>Not a simple thing like that would stop them.
>Bea was standing there. Naked. That fact seemed entirely unimportant at that moment.
>I showed her the picture.
>Her scales took on a white shade.
>Her mouth opened, closed, and opened again. But words didn't come out.
>>11598076
>I moved over to the window and peeked out.
>A police cruiser was the only thing out of the ordinary outside.
>I watched a streetlamp flicker and die.
>The one over the cruiser.
>We wouldn't find out until the next morning that the officer inside was dead.
>But at that moment I felt a moment of terror.
>I couldn't explain it.
>Bea still had no words.
>I wrapped my free arm around her. She clung like a drowning woman given a rope.
>The knife stayed in my hands for the rest of the night.
>We didn't sleep.

I gotcha. The original Twin Peaks kinda fucked itself too on the 2nd season. Dale was more of a cool guy with weird profiling strategies through esoteric dream crap.
Great story btw.
Any love for the constellations? Simone the Fighter always reminded me of the American Industrial Age protests for some reason. I know that probably wasn't the case, but rifledeer is cool.
>>11599349
I really enjoyed the story behind Ferdinand the Moutaineer. All of the constellations are interesting in one way or another, but Ferdinand was the one I still remember off the top of my head.
"He dreamed of mountains and devoted his life to climbing them. When he returned home, he complained that the sky felt heavy. He had been up in the clouds, and now they rested hard upon him."
>it's been over 6 months since I've played NITW
I really have to go back to this sometime. I miss the small experience and the characters, even though it won't feel the same
>>11599710
I like how the game used constellations to still set the foundations of a story, but still openly allows one to explore subtext. This carries into the rest of the game really well too.
I really liked that one too. I suspected it reflected Ferdinand's experience as a mountain climber in the way that he experienced so much, but in that it became hard to return home or keep going because of the inability to 'top' those experience, on a hedonistic calculus level anyways.
Also, Bea butt.
>>11599966
Bea butt has distracted me from any deeper meaning to the game.
>>11600219
There is no further meaning. The entire game was just subliminally making you starved for her massive gator ass. Now is the time to make your dreams come true
