Old thread: >>6286820
every time your favorite character gets a toy, it just gets a funko pop
WTF is the appeal of these things? I have a couple of friends that find these things adorable and I think it's stupid as fuck.
>>6379394
One day I plan to buy bunch of these just so I can melt them into throne.
>>6379600
>I have a couple of friends that find these things adorable
you just answered your own question
>I think it's stupid as fuck.
thats because you're autistic and you spend $80on waifu figs
>>6379394
do you think we'll be getting Blade Runner POPs?
>>6379612
They're Troll Dolls with none of the charm, originality or mold quality. They're even too fucking expensive.
They're stupid as fuck.
>>6379394
>The Tick
Did they make another live-action Tick show?
Is it also terrible?
>>6379646
Amazon original, pilot seemed good
>>6379646
Yeah it's going to be on Amazon. They released a pilot earlier this year and the new show starts in August.
The guy they got for the Tick didn't look enough like him but his voice sounds very similar to the cartoon version.
I've never really been a huge funko fan but when I saw this online I just couldn't help myself. What do you guys think, did I do good?
>>6379814
Personally I think some pops are cool- nonhman ones mostly because humans in pop form looks bland and lazy. Lich looks badass as a pop, I'd even so far as to say that the entire AT line looks good bar a few exceptions (Gunter, Lemongrab, etc.)
SDCC Wave 300 or something
Warner Brothers
I wish Funko would put out a second series of the SU minis.
>>6379622
Adding on this.
The qc (Sloppy paint, badly glued in parts) is really bad as well.
I bought the Peridot they put out just to complete my collection of Peridot figures and it was the first time I ever looked at one these things up close.
It's the only figure I have ever left in the box.
>>6379600
>WTF is the appeal of these things?
What's the appeal of the crap you collect? What kind of stupid question is that?
>>6380401
i never been to comic con i heard tho in order to get theses you have to buy the whole set or something like that ?
>>6380634
Nah they are probably at different booths. Plus you can get them in actual stores.
>>6380592
I can pose my toys
they vary in design, size and accessories
their faces/facial expressions vary between characters
>>6380401
That cute dragonny thing! Oh how damn nice that'd be to get.
>>6381405
So can these, dipshit.
So my local Target managed to get the Rick and Morty figures in stock and I decided to pick up Rick. He's a pretty decent figure though I'm scared to move his hips
>>6382040
They're not that fragile. I'm surprised Rick and Morty figures even get this much articulation, most Western comedy cartoons just get crappy bendy figures, borderline statue shit, or figures with extremely minimal articulation like just arms and heads that rotate like the Simpsons or Family Guy figures.
My personal favorite from RIck and Morty wave 1 is Mr. Meeseeks.
Place your bets, how many little kids will get trampled this year at the Funko SDCC booth by Pop hoarders?
>>6382210
Well, it's a lottery system online before the con to get access to the booth. So I imagine not many.
>>6381405
>>I can pose my toys
So you are an underage faggot that plays with toys then?
Or an autistic sonic middle age faggot that plays with his toys then
>>6380401
Any idea on what the aftermarket will be on the Occamy?
>>6382205
Would have been funny if the label was alien parasites
>>6382751
>he says while being on a /toy/ board where the majority of anons still plays with toys like children
sounds like you don't like it here
I hate these things, but the mecha they're doing are kind of cool. I have one of the Tiranfall pop's, been looking for Dva from Overwatch.
>>6382835
What these guys are my friends how do I know you're not the alien parasite?
>>6383943
Jolly Roger looks petty awesome, I might have to hunt one down.
A friend posted pic related on facebook today. I really dig the design, I'll definitely pick one up. Hopefully they do some more original designs like this guy.
>>6383943
I can't tell if they based HeiHei on the earlier design or not?
>>6379814
He was my first one, got it as a birthday present. It's super cool. I'm glad to have some kind of physical version of him
>>6379600
They produce toys for things that don't often get made into toys. Sure, I'd like it if I could get a nice proportional version of the characters I like, but it's just unlikely, or extremely expensive.
Right now I have Lapis, Spike Spiegel, D.Va, and the Lich. Plus I love shit I can put on my desk.
>>6382082
to be fair, crappy bendy figures would be super appropriate for the animation style
>>6384054
I actually have 3 D.Vas. QC on funko pop is so fucking bad, but customer service at blizzard is pretty good. The first one they sent me was busted, so I asked for a new one and they told me to keep the busted one. Lo and behold, the second one was busted too. So I have 3.
>>6384043
This line is ripping on Chris Ryniak hard.
>>6383943
>>6384047
They didn't give him the bulging white eyes, just loads of wrinkly eye lid.
>>6383943
I guess the non-flocked version of that Tigger will be the centerpiece in the next Pooh wave; since he's different from the old mold.
I know a couple family members who will be really excited about that, at least.
Went to the mall after i got off work early and foudn this. I don't usually buy pop vinyls but the MvC colors looked too nice to pass up
>>6383943
God, I loved Mr.Toad as a kid. I used the watch it all the time. I really hope he's one of the store-available characters
>>6384092
Oh shit that's why I liked it. If yo hadn't said I probably wouldn't have noticed. I think it's the overall shape and the solid black eyes that do it, really. (I'd love if Ryniak released a decent spread of figures, not just small limited productions.)
>>6379600
They're extremely cheap, have one for every franchise, even dead ones, and aren't considered "toys" so it's deemed socially acceptable to own them.
>>6384043
Fuck I want this line to take out to the park and photograph.
>>6385828
>>6385484
You can find the Thimblestump Hollow figures at a lot of Hot Topics.
>>6383943
>Negatron Negaduck
Holy shit, I hope it's a shared exclusive.
>>6379394
Any info on this 2 pack?
>>6379600
>WTF is the appeal of these things?
They look like cute chibis and are cheap.
They look great on a desk or on a bookshelf.
>>6379600
Autism, basically.
I can't wait until they become the worthless trash that they truly are, and everyone who has invested stupid amounts of money in this absolute garbage fad is screwed over big time.
>>6385825
>and aren't considered "toys" so it's deemed socially acceptable to own them.
I didn't know it was deemed socially acceptable to own shit though.
>>6383943
>more shitty exclusives
>Fukno fans go apeshit
>>6386876
>They look like cute chibis
Wrong, they look like autistic neckbeard stocking-stuffers.
>They look great on a desk or on a bookshelf.
They look better in the trash.
>>6388135
Lol look at these kids getting defensive and hurt. Never understood why people waste time and effort to put down what other people like. How does it effect your life?
>>6388135
>neckbeards
The most people that buy these are normies actually.
You definitely sound like a sour miserable faggot.
Wait a minute... are you female by any chance? That level of miserable cattiness is what i expect from a woman on the rag
>>6388125
They cost like 4 bucks on ebay....
>>6384057
That should have been a thing for sure.
Has their been any word on the new FNAF figures showing up?
I've seen the plushes and the mystery minis in stores, really wanting the Sister Location figures now.
Is this new 52 Tick? That armor looks stupid.
>>6390046
New tv show
>>6390102
Pretty funny. Different from the original though
No details, but this is going to be a thing. Likely an exclusive.
>>6383943
Not the nama
Pic related
>want a review of the figure
>reviews are all showing off the figure in the box
>online people are literally giving bad reviews because the box was slightly bent
>mfw
They are high production, few month old toys, not 1980's baseball cards. Why do people do this?
>>6391192
All these Looney Tunes ones are pretty neat. If they make a Foghorn Leghorn I'm totally getting it.
>>6395793
Finally, they understand!
>>6395793
hahahahahaha
>buying Funko
>>6396270
From what I've seen, 80% of the people buying the keep them in the boxes. They even pay extra for clear boxes to keep them in.
I can't even claim "mint in box" because Funko never tapes them shut.
I work at a small toy store that carries stuff from Schylling/Toysmith/Funko etc., every time I have a look at the 2017 Funko catalogue the sheer amount of these figures makes me a little sick. There's even a fuckin' John Oliver one now.
I'm goin to make fun of funko pop by doing a degrading figure.
Can i be sued?
>>6379394
all the SDCC exclusives
>>6398852
that's a lot
>>6398852
I usually think their weird Bratz wannabe line is garbage but it actually works pretty well for the Hanna-Barbera characters.
>>6398852
I want the pops that are actual bottles of pop
Pops would be acceptable at the $4 apiece they warrant, but like those awful ReAction toys, they're way overpriced. Rock Candy is what the line should have been from the start.
Dorbz are worse. Take a good idea, ruin it with characters that aren't adorable, and charge way too much. I rarely see Dorbz that live up to their name. I do not know why they thought Skeletor, Pinhead or Carnage needed to be made in this format.
>>6399463
Jason Voorhees dorbs is super cute
>>6400641
I hate Dorbz but I don't hate that. I'm conflicted.
>>6404005
>>6398852
>that Baxter Stockman
Oh shit.
I like my Ralphie Funko. There's not a lot of Christmas Story merch that isn't bizarre resin statues that look like they would come out of hte What on Earth catalog.
>>6404257
>white flyman
>Baxter Stockman
yeah, I want it too
New Funko series alert.
>>6406938
>>6406975
These do have a bit of personality to them that I appreciate
>>6406938
>two or three different big head vinyl lines just weren't enough for Funko!
These clearly copy the Jay Ward art style. If they don't make Bullwinkle, his spinoffs, Teenesee Tuxedo and the like in this series, they've wasted it.
>>6406938
Gosh those are atrocious.
Just announce Horror series 4 please Funko. The Pint Size Heroes wont do it for me.
>>6406938
I swear to god I feel like Funko just wants to crash the toy industry by flooding the market as much as possible
>>6381506
>virtually no poseability aside from limited head articulation
>they vary in design, size and accessories; their faces/facial expressions vary between characters
Somewhat true, but with very few figures depending on the wave.
>>6386876
I'd say Nendos and Cu-pouches are closer to the "chibi look", but you do you.
>>6406938
The art style looks like a knockoff of GoAnimate/TTG.
>>6406938
These are fucking atrocious. I understand Funko wants to diversify their vinyl portfolio but Christ, these are an aesthetic failure. POPs, Dorbz, Mystery Minis and Pint Size Heroes all seem to have their markets but these, these will sit forever on shelves next to vinyl idolz and vinyl vixens.
>find out that a dead/obscure show you like is getting new toys
>it's a pop
>>6407668
>They're based of the original Ducktales depictions.
Well, that's something of a relief.
>>6407828
get monkey pawed, bitch.
>>6407668
Huey, Dewey but no Louie
>>6387796
>Lorax
Onceler when
>>6409117
Probably never since these are in the Book series and onceler is just arms there.
>>6408741
Never fear my friend.
>>6387796
Motherfucking Scareglow? Oh that's too awesome.
>I can't wait until they become the worthless trash that they truly are
So like all toys? You're butthurt over nothing.
Never bought any of these before but I'm giving serious thought to copping this set
I fucking love Mystery Minis.
I don't love blind boxes, and I don't love the bullshit variants and 1 in 72 odds. But I love the sculpts on these things.
>>6409848
Honestly I wouldn't mind the original Onceler
>>6409953
why not get the NECA figures instead?
>>6409953
Most places have them on clearance now. You might be able to find it at Target and Toys R Us and others for cheap if they still have them.
I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume the MST3K ones have been canceled.
Those were the only ones I would have ever bought.
>>6409849
Is that really the best pose they could come up with?
I get that it needs to be different from his brothers but it looks like he's imitating that jew meme.
>>6409953
hot topic has Kelly, Pablo and Ruby on clearance.
I think Hot Topic online even has them on clearance and you get free shipping on oders over 20 dollars or something
>>6410294
>I don't love blind boxes, and I don't love the bullshit variants and 1 in 72 odds. But I love the sculpts on these things.
Find the case layouts for the sets you want figures from.
>>6411316
Thanks for the lead! Just picked them up at 20% off from the website. Having to get the ash and ash bloody variant elsewhere but they're easy eBay pickups
Fuck, is Goldblum gonna be the collector corps pop vinyl? Or will it be the GladiaThor with his helmet? If it's both- might have to finally sign up for that shit
>>6410828
Why do you say that?
fuck yes so happy the BTAS box pop was Mr Freeze
>>6412612
Not a peep made about them in months, especially when most of the other pops announced around the same time are already on shelves.
>>6410828
no they're not.
Anyone else get this? I saw it at Hot Topic and I couldn't resist.
>>6415214
I just ordered Bill with plans to paint his eye white with a pupil.
This one's alright.
>>6383943
>look up Mr. Toad
>he's going to be limited to 1500
>SDCC exclusive
So how many shekels should I be realistically looking at paying to get him?
Did they ever release Brak and Zorak?
>>6417164
yes i think they were exclusive
>>6417164
Yes but they were toy tokyo exclusive at last year's comiccon so practically impossible to find unless you imported from Australia.
>>6417162
Realistically? $200. Minimum.
>>6417162
i saw him go for 80
>>6418320
these are confirmed to be Box Lunch shared exclusive if anyone needs them
>>6418117
Funko is laughing all the way to the bank, getting you fags to buy the same toy 4 times.
>>6418075
>trusting ebay preorders for SDCC exclusives
>ever
Have fun being jewed out of hundreds of dollars when the seller isn't able to win the raffle that gets them into the booth.
>>6418320
They looked better when Cooper's eyes were still white desu
>>6418421
Awesome. Thanks for the heads up!
>>6418112
>got the rights to Norman and Carrie
>Krampus from PSH
>Annabelle POP
Really excited for the Mystery Mini Series 4. Those POPs don't look too bad either. Might get the Norman one.
>>6417155
I'm waiting for the inevitable Deadpool The Duck variant just to watch everyone writhe in disgust, mostly because Deadpool is overdone and the real Steve Gerber Howard needs more time in the spotlight
A bunch of unannounced new releases discovered:
Wonder Woman
- Cloak (presumably WW in her cloak)
- Etta w/sword
DC Bombshells
- Batwoman
- Catwoman
- Hawkgirl
- Poison Ivy
- Supergirl
James Bond
- Daniel Craig 007
- Sean Connery 007
- Roger Moore 007
- Jinx
- Oddjob
- Jaws
- Blofeld
- Jill Masterson
Music
- Jerry Garcia
- Jerry Garcia's Bear
- Elton John
- Kurt Cobain (Teen Spirit)
Rick and Morty
- Lawyer Morty
- Summer
- Scary Terry
- Jerry
- Beth w/wine glass
No idea of these are legit.
>>6420930
All Pops, by the way.
>>6420930
That Scary Terry! Awww bitch!
>>6388687
People have also payed hundreds if you look at sold listings
>>6418498
LMFAO they didn't even fucking try holy shit
>>6420930
>- Kurt Cobain (Teen Spirit)
Boy I'm glad he ain't around to see this.
>>6423231
You act like he'd care.
>>6423248
Well they're using his likeness to make money so I mean he probably would
>>6423231
yes who could have expected this unprecedented move
>>6423203
Yeah! How dare they make a pair of twins who are supposed to look the same do exactly that!
>>6423270
You act like that hasn't happened before.
>>6423478
Any previous times aren't excused either anon
>>6423470
The twins are supposed to be holding hands. This is just reusing a mold because Funko is cheap as fuck.
>>6423499
Sure guy, whatever you say.
>>6423754
You act like this is some huge slight against Funko. I have plenty of pops I just don't like them making a figure of Cobain. Stop being so defensive ffs
>>6424211
Cobain POP? Pic related.
>>6420930
Also how many Blofeld variants? 3? Pleasance, Gray, Savalas?
>>6423748
Have they had any 2-packs where both figures interact with eachother? Even the Lady and the Tramp one just missed an opportunity to slap on a plate of cardboard spaghetti.
>>6424528
They have not
>>6424528
None that actually touch but this one sort of interacts.
>>6424211
You're the one acting like this is a huge slight against Kurt Cobain. He's dead, he killed himself. Let people reap the merchandise if they want.
>>6410828
You're in luck anon
>>6381506
>toys
lol, no you can't.
I'd call these paperweights, but they aren't even sturdy enough for that.
>>6418117
>Hear The Shining are getting toys
Yes yes yes yes Jack Torr-
> Funko
...everytime, I get my hopes up.. it is this fucking GARBAGE
>>6423748
How are they going to hold hands with their giant Funko heads
>>6415214
No but I have the Dipper Chase one.
>>6425221
They'd have to have their arms outstretched to reach each other's hand without bumping heads for sure.
>>6424970
Crow's head is way off. Otherwise these are fine.
>>6420930
Jaws, sweet love that dude
I don't hate pop vinyls or Funko, but holy shit they could not have picked a worse line-up for these Twin Peaks figures. Who he hell wants the giant or the fucking log lady over Sheriff Truman or Albert?
It's just kind of confusing, honestly. Even the posable figures are weird picks.
>>6426631
I just wish the poseable figures were 6" and not 3.75" I really wanted a wrapped up Laura to go with my horror stuff.
>>6427406
Me too! It always seemed like the perfect ip for neca to do a line of figures for, especially with the new season on and everything
>https://funko.com/pages/sdcc2017
And we have a list of shared SDCC exclusives.
handy guide for tonight
>>6379600
Cheap statues to show your pop culture interests without having the stigma of an adult with toys.
Some people pay mad dosh while most are worthless, but it has the new beanie baby treatment.
>>6379603
The Vinyl throne of entertaina mus popicus?
Careful, you might forge something similar to the pimp coat of beanie babies.
Hey, guys. I'm trying to get the Scott with Rickenbacker figure. (First POP I've been interested in.)
Is there a schedule for when it'll be available online?
>>6430018
NOW
>>6379394
Only funko I own is the Soul of Cinder from Dark Souls 3. It just feels nice to own a figure from Dark Souls without spending over a hundred dollars.
Got Martian, Steve, and Clarke online. Hope to god Walgreens pulls through, because if so i should be good tomorrow.
>check my local Hot Topic's (only one nearby) instagram account everyday to see when they get the Sci Fi PSHs in cause I want the exclusive Bender
>forget to check at the usual time
>check just after they closed, and see they got them in yesterday.
>Bender is 1/24 so if he hasn't already been taken, he'll definitely be taken by the SDCC crowd tomorrow
god fucking dammit
>>6429069
Went to three Walgreens stores and no Bucky. Wtf
>>6429069
What's the difference between this and the regular catdog I got last week?
>>6431323
Fuck really? I thought Walgreens online said they don't sell pops on the website. Fuck
>>6431849
Nevermind. Got it. Thank you
i managed to get 3 magenta marvins lol
>>6424970
The illustrations look significantly better than the renders.
Got everything I wanted so far
>Masked Elliot
>Clara
>Negascott
>Joker Batman
>Princess Leia R2D2
>Carbon D.Va
Now im hoping I can get Roxy or Rock Candy Ramona from the Funko shop
>saw Mr. Toad going for $90 last night
>"oh, I'll wait until more of him pop up, maybe the price will go down."
>now he's going for $150
Fucking end me. I don't know if I should keep waiting or just bite the bullet and fucking do it.
>>6380712
True that. I work at Big Box Bookstore and I spent all night fielding phone calls about these fucking things.
>>6418320
I'm so fucking upset that these are the only Twin Peaks figures. I wanted evil Leland and thumbs-up Coop and Margaret so badly but I refuse to give Funko any money.
>>6432690
How amazing would a NECA quarter scale thumbs up Coop be. All my monies for one
>>6432245
rock candy ramona was pretty easy to get.
roxy was a shit fest though
I got my second POP: Clayface
Always been a fan of him, and the sculpt on his body is pretty good. The POP-styled face doesn't bother me since he's literally a malleable character. Also fairly heavy and accurate to his look in the show.
Soon I'll be getting the Dr. Seuss Mystery Minis. I'm not a big Dr. Seuss fan like I was as a kid, but I've always appreciated the art-style in the books and animations. The figures look straight out of the books.
>>6390143
I think they are trying to aim for parodying modern super hero movies.
The Superman analog is a distant god like figure who is far removed and up his own ass. He kills his main villain at the start of the show all of a sudden after years of him fighting him.
>>6432698
The pain of knowing this is never going to exist will keep me up at night.
so many good licenses wasted on these ridiculous children cartoon figures
>>6434645
"Well we already have one kylo ren figure by hasbro I guess we can't make another."
>>6385455
Kinda cute and also doesn't have soul less eyes
Got the two Comic con pops I wanted.
I need to get megazord too but this was just in-store buys.
Fuck you, I wanted this to happen.
>>6436215
Also Rocko. Wanted Rocko.
Beavers look okay too.
>>6436215
YAS! I hope they ones for all the Main B.P.R.D. Members!
>Bummed out I couldn't get the Dwarven Colossus from SDCC
>Go to work
>We've got one sitting on the shelf
>Only one
Bought and opened
>>6429069
I managed to get Negatron off of GameStop's website a few days ago, so I'm happy despite missing out on Ren and Stimpy.
>>6434131
Funko excels when they make toys & figures of nonhuman characters, I'm not surprised.
Apparently they confirmed POPs for Emperor's New Groove and Tron as well
>No Warhammer funkos
Hurts just a little bit
>>6437976
>No Dragon Age funkos
That feel
>>6437463
>TRON
And thus, my dream came true
>>6437463
Sauce?
>>6436215
i'm guessing broken horns Hellboy will be a chase
i'm sure my wife will love to have a Rasputin figure as well
>>6438030
Disappointed the 007 art shown didn't include Blofeld among them.
Also, I do not understand Funko's SDCC madness. I own the Universal Monsters Pops, the Cthulhu Pop, the Nosfetatu/Orlok Pop and just added the Gossamer Pop because Daffy Duck's Quackbusters was my shit as a kid. Hence, wanting that SDCC/ToyTokyo two-pack with Mr. Hyde and the Hyded Bugs (meh). Not only is it limited edition (850 pieces I think) but getting it seems Byzantine. Why make it hard for me to give them money? I don't care about exclusivity or stickers or stupid bullshit like that.
>>6379600
plebs love to buy worthless crap to remind themselves of things they are told to like
Any pics of Bond funkos from SDCC yet?
>>6439980
"worthless crap"
LOL then what are you doing on /toy?
Fucking loser.
>>6440192
In the mountain of worthless junk here, pops are at the bottom.
>>6440105
Yes, but just artwork. Here are the Connery and Moore 007s, each with white dinner jacket variants.
>>6440105
And here are Oddjob and a variant holding his hat, Jill Masterson, Jinx, and Jaws.
Leaks included a Craig 007 and Blofeld but nothing of those two yet (if at all).
>>6440216
Anyone force you to buy them? People can buy whatever garbage they want with the money they earn.
>>6438090
I feel like a lot of POPs with unique sculpts are perfectly capable of being good figures, but I just wish they'd have better eyes.
>>6432690
...they have a pop of laura wrapped in plastic on amazon. i saw it and freaked
Picked up Joey yesterday
>>6434131
Grinch dont even look evil. fuck it. i want a tiny evil grinch
I have the feeling the Gwenpool stuff will shelfwarm for a long, long, long time in my area.
>>6409953
Holy shit I'm glad you didn't get that set. I just saw that exact pic on eBay that they had listed at 55 obo and I need it for 40. Not a terrible deal if I do say so myself
>>6418636
theyre white in real life. unlike the mockup
>>6447357
well, at least they're in order...
most of them look horrible to me but there are few exceptions
I think the book of life line is pretty neat, also in general the ones that are not using the usual standing pose with these retarded looking legs/feet
I only have dead manolo from tbol series though and will most likely never get another pop, this one just stood out for me
These things fly off the shelves of my game store. They sell even better than Pokémon and MtG merchant. No matter what property or character, they always sell. It's crazy.
>>6457497
*merch, not merchant
>>6450385
fuck you is this real
>>6457941
it's not. But you know it's a matter of time
MST3K exclusive, vendor currently unknown
One of the few Pops I ever bought was Spongebob because I figured there will never really be a decent figure of him that isn't some vinyl hipster shit or minifigure. I checked around for awhile afterwards for Patrick to go with him but never found one and eventually just forgot about it until something recently reminded me, so I looked him up on eBay. Why does this motherfucking thing go for $100+?

They came in today! They actually look pretty great but I can't see myself buying any more of them

Haha ruined!
I don't own any, but I have coworkers that have a lot on their desk so I was thinking of maybe getting a few.
The Super Deluxe Vinyl Batman caught my eye.... is there any opinions on it? Is it somehow "better" or "worse" by not being a Pop!? Other than its size of course.
Anyone know why Marvels Funko deal has to be specifically bobbleheads b/c of some legal reason, but DC doesnt have that issue? I will never buy a Marvel one only for the fact that I hate the bobblehead pops.
>>6465439
Marvel and Star Wars Pops and Mystery Minis are bobbleheads, so I guess it has something to do with Hasbro's contracts for those?
>>6465617
It does. Hasbro is the only company in the US that's allowed to make figures of Marvel characters. I know it's more complex than that, but I know that's the reason that Funko is forced to make Bobbleheads.
>>6465640
Yep, pretty much this. Hasbro's license is for action figures of varying scales. Funko making a pop without a base legally makes it an action figure (somehow) and that then infringes on the contract that Hasbro has.
So by doing stupid little things like making them bobbleheads and giving them stands, they no longer fit the legal requirements to be action figures.
LEGO does the same thing with their minifigures. If they sold them alone, bam, "action figure" and you've got an infringement. But when they sell multiple figurines in a small set with a tiny vehicle or something, you've now got a legal building set, and you can get around Hasbro's contracts.

It didn't suck, it's just very different from what's come before. Edlund went for a new take than past adaptations to keep in line with current superhero TV/movie tropes (The Tick's costume being overly busy, Arthur having a tragic backstory). I'm hoping that the show embraces a little bit more of the goofy stuff as it goes on but I still thought it was a decent start.
>The guy playing the Tick looks like he's 60 years old.
He's 45, the voice of Darth Maul and he created Look Around You. Cut him some slack.
Does anyone have experience/tips when it comes to painting and modifying pops?
I'm planning to make pic related, Aquaman and Cassandra Cain. Aquaman just needs a head swap, but Cass will need to be painted black, leaving only a batsymbol with yellow trim. I'm also thinking of filling up the high heels before painting the yellow areas.
Any input/suggestions for alternate bodies/heads that would look better or painting techniques? (I still have some brushes and paints from Warhammer miniatures)
>>6466301
The original Tick show was hilarious and the new one, although different, is funny too. I'll give it a shot since I liked the pilot.
>>6447357
Good god. How much did you think you spent on that anon?
>>6470303
He has exclusives and chases, and I doubt he got the older ones when they initially came out so...thousands
Walgreens is said to be getting Horror Series 3 Mystery Minis with different ratios (for instance, Bateman will be 1/12 unlike the 1/72 he was in the first run) and exclusives.

>1 digit off from dubs
damn
god dammit I hate fucking flippers
>>6477667
If people wouldn't go out of their way to pay so much for a brand that has an already over-saturation of the market, this behavior would end.
Seriously, what hasn't Funko gotten licence of?
>>6477704
Its not just pops though, its pretty much anything
>>6459131
...it's a Tom colored Crow?
For what purpose? Why not do Timmy instead?

Heads up, Bob Ross got shipped out to me from Entertainment Earth yesterday, he should be up!

I pretty much hate pops but despite myself I like the Dorbz. It's because I'm a sucker for the kokeshi doll aesthetic.
>>6479298
Whoah, that thing is cool looking.
Well this is a surprise
Also Chell
>>6486187
and the little robot guys
Hoping they'll make a Half-Life set after this
Wow why are these things such fucking garbage? oh yeah because its hip to be a square these days and people dont want quality they want signifiers to show off how nerd cred they are
>>6488827
Easily found, easy to stack, every single known thing has one or will get one, some of these brands have no other toys, etc
I'd love to see Wave 2 of Resident Evil pops, the monster design in the set we got was fantastic
>Still no Vicious, Julia, Ein, Vincent, or Punch & Judy two-pack for Cowboy Bebop.
>>6379840
I don't like the look of most of them, but I think the Lion King ones are alright. Maybe others.
>>6486175
I always wanted a nice Medic figure and this is what I get
(he does kinda work though, unlike Heavy)
>>6467184
FRom what I understand, if you heat some water and soak the heads, on the newer ones at least, they should just pop off the next pegs. On the old ones, you had to use someting to pry the head off of the cork-like piece attached to the neck. I didn't have any problems with my B&N-exclusive Fourth Doctor when I swapped a better painted head onto the one I had with a better body. Also, both of those are great ideas, good job.

NECK pegs. Dammit, autocorrect.
I wish this wasn't a thing.

End result for Aquaman and Batgirl, pleased with how they turned out. I used a hairdryer to soften up the neck, this made it easy to pull the head off. However, the Mulan head (for Cassandra Cain Batgirl) had a smaller hole to the body's neck peg, so that took a while to force them together. Aquaman was much easier, I used some ice hockey player's head for him.
Repainted parts of Batgirl black to match her colour scheme. I tried to paint her chest logo black, leaving a yellow outline like in the comics. However, this looked like shit and I backtracked by removing the black using dettol. It slightly faded the yellow bat on her chest. I learned that dettol also removes the base paint on funkos by testing it on leftover body parts.
Lastly, I filled the high heels on Batgirl by filling it with green stuff putty and smoothin it out. (Cassandra Cain wearing heels triggered me for some reason, doesn't fit the character) It's barely noticeable with the black paintjob on her boots.
I'll be getting a classic Superman from ebay in the mail soon, will be using its head to add to the flying BvS pop (which has no eyebrows for some reason, so I wanted to change that).
I've always treated these with derision but I caved and bought a few Batman The Animated Series ones. I love BTAS too much and wave 2 has a more interesting selection of characters.
Normally I can't stand Pops, but most of these actually look pretty good. Mouths and squinting eyes go a long way, and they don't have the weird squatting proportions that old Pops used to have (besides Mr. Freeze I guess).
>>6492995
I only have a few now, but I have a feeling it will get worse. I've bought 3 so far this year, now I have:
>Clayface
>Gigantor
>Michigan J. Frog
>Balrog
>Alien from Independence Day
>>6486828
Shit. I might have to get this.
>>6494380
If it's because you think there hasn't been turret merch before, remember that they had those blindbag ones which are much more screen accurate, albeit a smaller scale. Also, fun colors!
What are some brands that have yet to get the Funko treatment? The only that I can think of right off the bat are Studio Ghibli, Nintendo, Atlus, and Square Enix
>>6476365
Walgreens exclusive Alex DeLarge is in the top middle. Buy both, the other is Jason.

Still waiting for Dragon Age pops that were announced in December 2016.
>>6495122
Ooh, retro game mystery minis.

I'd love the Beavers

>>6492903
Might have to do that Aquaman for the missus. She loves Aquaman, but I've yet to see a really good POP! for him.
>>6492995
I got Man-Bat for the missus and we absolutely love him. It's got me wanting to get some of the other BTAS figures to go with it. Catwoman and Scarecrow are tempting. I wish they'd do them for Riddler and Penguin, my two favorite villains in the series.
>>6495153
What are you smoking dude that's the AHS freak show clown
>>6495358
I unexpectedly saw these at TRU last week so I got Phantasm on a whim, but I liked her enough that I bought Man-Bat and Catwoman the next day. I'm waiting to see if they do a third wave before truly committing though.
>>6495153
Those are fighting words there anon. About 80% of the Horror Classics line is from stuff older than 2000.
>>6495358
I used this guy's head for Aquaman, good luck anon.

In that case, I'll put 'em somewhere else. Maybe the bed mast? Rn they're in a ski mask, hidden away in my dresser.
>>6498682
Can someone explain to me the whole chase variant dilemma? I know they're rare, but where can they be found? Could you, say, find one at a Target or Wal-Mart?
>>6499583
realistically, you can find one anywhere if you are lucky enough
