News:
>Kotobukiya is making reproduction kits for Arnval and Strarf based on new Machineca (マシニーカ) bodies designed by Apsy.
>Plastica.jp will sell blank bodies once he's happy with the final design.
>Megami Device (メガミデバイス) is another proposed line using that new body, so they'll be compatible too. They could be GKs, model kits, or figures. Too soon to know.
>Frame Arms Girl continues with an unarmored kit plus the architect is up next, with another mech on the way.
>Blade teamed up with Megahouse to make some cheaper, 8cm tall 1:1 battle robot figures called Desktop Army. Their plan includes 3d printable add-ons to appeal to customizers.
tldr it's a good time to be a Shinkifag.

Where to buy second hand Shinkis:
>eBay/Amazon - only if you hate having too much money. Avoid Latvia.
>Mandarake - search 武装神姫 and don't trust listing images (they sometimes get mixed up).
>Yahoo Japan Auctions - same kanji as above, you'll need a proxy, try Noppin or FromJapan.
>Taobao - search 武装神姬 and use a proxy like Taobaoring, Taoboafocus, or Bhiner.
>Amiami occasionally gets some preowned. They tend to sell fast.
>Check the BST, My Figure Collection, and Busou Shinki World for sales.

Judging by the 3D model and the picture of the prototype, it doesn't look like joined elbows are possible with that design. The square armor bits on top would get in the way.

Quick question, does anyone know if the Fort Bragg EX set comes with extra faces? Can't decide if I should get that plus another blank or grab Dusk, which I know comes with two faces (or three if you count the visor down as an extra face)
>>
>>5266108
Nope. Go for Dusk, if you have the money.
>>
>>5266110
Alright, thanks. Funny thing is, Bragg plus a blank costs about the same as Dusk with how much blanks go for these days.

My only concern is with Dusk, I'll want to get Zelnogrard Berig and Werkstra Commando to complete the black ops set, but as far as problems go, wanting more shinkis is a good one.
>>
>>5266115
I have Berig, Dusk, Artille Full Barrel, Raptias Air Dominance, and the two Waffles on display on the same shelf. Looks pretty rad.

Almost forgot to post this here. I haven't top coated it yet, but here's Werkstra's MP7. I'm still not entirely sold on if I like the yellow wire for the stock, but black definitely wouldn't look right, and leaving it white would make it look unfinished. Arms and leg swaps as well as anything that goes in the ports on the arms and legs are fine for compatibility. You won't be able to swap shins, chests, or plug anything into the back.

It's part of the official manual to the kit. They showed off this custom work at wonfes as an example of the sort of things you can do with her as a base for jet mecha musume. I beleive they did the same thing with showing off gourai before she was fully released with tank parts. However they did not put images in the instructions showing how they did the custom work.
>>
>>5271410
Yeah, they've been increasingly pushing customization as a core feature since last WF.
>>
I believe that i'll be backing out of the shinki hobby shortly and selling my collection. Figured i'd let the shinki general get first dibs. Haven't gotten around to taking pictures yet or pricing but here's my list:

Lancamento (complete with box)
Espadia (Complete no box)
Raptias Air Dominance (complete with box, 1 leg spacer broken)
Xiphos (Complete with box)
Prototype Partio (complete with card back)
Prototype Pommock (complete with card back)
MMS2(?) Navy Swimsuit Blank Body
Sky Girl Elise (Complete no card)

Armor Sets - No figure just armor
Waffebunny (Complete no card)
Strarf (might have box somewhere but no hammer)

She also looks pretty good with arnval tranches armor set

You can get a proto Partio, Pomock or Mao Chao for about 3000-3500Y. I'd say they are just nicer to photograph and more fun to pose than something bland without their armor like Benio. Much better choice of first Shinki IMO.

xiphos is listen on UK amazon for what equates to $65 brand new so i'll say $40

raptias has been purchased.
>>
>>5272649
Package size is 13cm X 7.5cm, and it looks like the package is tight enough that those are pretty much the chair measurements, too. That's about half the shinki's height in width. Compared to my folding chair, which is about 18 inches wide, which is about a quarter of a 6 ft person's height in width. So I'm pretty sure it's 1/6 scale, but I don't have them to say for sure.

1/12 scale stuff is what you want for shinkis, just for the record.
>>
>>5272649
More expensive, but here's something. Comes with four 1/12 folding chairs (that don't fold, unfortunately) and two desks.

Hasegawa apparently makes a ton of 1/12 furniture kits. I might grab some of their school desks.

Eh personal preference I guess. I almost never pose or photograph my girls in their armor so Partio's lack of gear really didn't bother me. She is more photogenic and more expressive than Benio and that's what I value over armor that will (for me) sit in the box 90% of the time.

Don't buy Puer. Picco Neemo is the one you want. Not sure how they'll fit Shamrock but even Picco Neemo are slightly too big for shinkis so it should be okay.

go with stuff without shoulders. The polynian have weird high shoulders you dont notice till you try to dress them.
So strapped dresses and off the shoulder jumpers are the only thing that works for them in the picco neemo line.

Shinki general, I need your help. I really like the design of Arnval but I don't particularly like her in her base white and blonde variety. I cannot into moon runes so how do I tell which Arnvals on Mandarake (most of which are in brown cardboxes with outlines images on them) are the black/red or black/lilac repaints?

I think this is the red/black but I'm not sure:

http://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1012106536&ref=list
>>
>>5278082
That's Arnval Tranche which is Red and Black.

But aren't black/red AND black/lilac both repaints?

Basically, the Arnval I want is pic related. What does the box look like for her or failing that what moon runes do I need to search?
>>
>>5278112

Or if that isn't a likely occurance in the near future, what bodies fit the Waffes? MM1, MM3 or both (I'm assuming Smalls don't)?
>>
>>5278128
Won't be for a while, but I don't have all the info. Only MMS1 fit the Waffesisters, 3 doesn't have the right washers for all their pouches or the right chest.

I recommend Strarf or Howling. Though black blanks are best and they're pretty cheap comparatively.
>>
>>5278140

Was actually looking at a black blank. Thanks for the info, I'll just buy a blank for now and then if these new blanks materialise I can finally try my hand at custom paint jobs and gunpla transfers (no way I'm trying that shit on an original body).

Okay /mms/ let's get real. Busou Shinki best girl and worst girl?

both arnvals in brown boxes are black/red. one is the original release's repaint, and the other is the repaint of the "updated rerelease", arnval tranche2. the names -are- written on the boxes in english, it's not exactly hard to tell them apart without reading japanese.

and the black/purple one you want is the repaint of arnval Mk2, which is a different design altogether. there's two instances of her, as well; the original instance, and the "full arms package" version which has more bits. "full arms package" is written on the box in english so it's also not hard to recognise.

I think it depends more on how you play with them/photograph them than what they are.

Anyways, for anyone working on their Frame Arms Girls, a tip.

Get some fabric tape.

Also, I was hoping to order some sprues from Kotobukiya and see if I can upgrade Gourai with Stylet's improvements, but I'm not seeing a way to get Stylet's hips compatible with Gourai's without significant modification. The armor for them don't match up slots/pegs and you'd need to replace the entire lower torso.

Quickest improvement would be to get another A sprue and replace Gourai's thigh polycaps with the ABS joints in there.

Based on the prototype's joints, they should have a hell of a lot of articulation.

Translator here. I'd been translating them using Korean translations I found from a blog that keeps up to date.

However, I just got a full time job, so things are going to be slower than normal.

I'm also working on Hibusou Shinki and Busou Shinki 2036.

Some work on Gourai. Just top coat and some peach tamiya weathering powder goes a long way for skin tones..

Unfortunately the fabric tape I got was a bit too thin. I'd like a roll that's like 2-3 times the width, but I can't find any. For reference this was a 1.5cm roll. It looks a bit rough cause I had to fill in some gaps with smaller pieces.

How did you apply the weathering powder? I'm going to work on Stylet or 1/12 Vader (though Vader might take priority) so I'd like to know if there's any way to improve the skin tones.
>>
>>5282697
Sweet, this is just what I need. I was planning to do a custom color scheme but this is good to know if I change my mind.

Speaking of which, do you think the Razgriz (Ace Combat 5) color scheme would work well on Stylet?

Here's another recreation of a pic I found on Pixiv...I took it before my camera started having "difficulties" but I was waiting until I could have a friend translate the dialogue for me (although it still doesn't really make much sense).

The original picture was mildly lewder as Gab and Ren had obviously been making out, but I figger this pic is innocent and cute enough as-is.

>>5282760
You need to put some flat clears down first unless you're painting it, either mr super clear, mr top coat, or what have you. Once that's dry, apply the powder with the sponge stick that's usually included. I used tamiya weathering master set H's peach.

You're going to want to seal it after with another coat of clear after.

Look on amberworks' blog linked above too.
