That's because they only started hating it when they realized a lot of the fans did. Toho is very business/market driven, they'll back or pull support from something based on what makes them money. When Godzilla 2000 first came out, the official word was that it was made due to Godzilla 98's success,a nd to fill in time as it was taking a while for the 98 movie's sequel. Then later on, the story changed to be that G2000 was made to make a "real" Godzilla movie since 98 wasn't. The '98 design was also pushed in Japan in games and some merchandise, but once they realized fans disliked it is when they started distancing themselves from it.

That shit only really happened in the last 25 years or so. Early on, Godzilla didn't even always get top billing, he'd often lose in a movie(or at least not clearly "win"). It wasn't until towards the end of the first series that they started the bullshit hax powers. They bought it back down for the second series, but gradually went nuts with it again, giving him powerups like a video game character. Then the millenium series just began with him being able to regenerate and survive blackholes.

Ironically, Godzilla really isn't all that popular in Japan anymore in terms of movies. He's become a Mickey Mouse. everyone knows him, but while the modern media starring him is somewhat successful, it's not crazy box office level.

The original godzilla film was basically a huge metaphor for the atomic bombings of Japan. Most of the other Toho Kaiju films were metaphors for similar things too, like anti-war or anti-pollution statements. "Zilla" was a gay american butchery that had nothing to do with actual Godzilla in any way, other than the name. Basically just a giant lizard monster movie that used Godzilla's name to try and rake in more views and money.

I loved Sigma 6 for it's great looking figures and accessory count. I never got why the GI Joe fandom couldn't get over MUH NOSTALGIA and accept the line for what it was. And then Hasbro pulled the plug on Sigma 6 for movie reasons. Just as it was getting good with all the Adventure Team figures.

Cartoon Network was really wonky with TFA... they held most of the rights to the show because I'm pretty sure they produced it as well... so I dont think Hasbro could even put out the series on dvd at first.

About 10 years ago, a friend of mine and I, both huge Muppet fans, spent most of our free time tracking these figures down. We'd look up toy stores all over the area and go on road trips to hunt down figures while listening to Muppet CDs. We both had pretty sizable collections. The best thing (aside from the amazing detail) was the accessories these things came with. They were so much fun.

I ended up selling most of mine a while back. I needed the money and the space. Made a profit on them. I'd say I regret it, but I still have the memories, which was honestly my favorite part. I did keep Rainbow Connection Kermit. Despite his lacking articulation, he was my favorite. Well, him and Patrol Bear Fozzie.

They say it's because they wouldn't sell well, but it's probably because of licensing fees. If you're a fan of l4d, you'd know valve brought in and hired models to do the mocap for the faces. Francis was a mix of one of their designers and I think Johnny Knoxville though.

I imagine neca thought if they couldn't sell some of the least popular zombies, it wouldn't be worth it to get the rights for the survivors. It's odd though, despite then using the least popular zombies, I'm sure they sold pretty well.
