Huh... original effect have some of the most tasteful, yet sexy figures I have seen (or maybe, the anon posting pics of his reborn body "paralytic face" doll is a very skilled photograph), so is a bit shocking to learn they are behind this new doll.

I mean, the sculpt looks very detailed, and I suppose the materials are as good as usual, and below all the... scars and tusks things... there is certain sex appeal... but it still looks kind of gross.

what can one expect from them?

OE is slowly inching up to HTs price, can't really justify spending that kinda dosh for something that merely looks cool

I've always thought OE's figures looked good and I've kind of liked some of their designs before, but I'm not really into sexy girl figures (I'm a dyke so it's not a lack of enthusiasm for sexy girls, just that sexy has never really been a quality that made me want something on my shelf) so I've never bought any of them. But this one is so up my alley that I think I might have to get it. It looks really good.

I actually really wanted her and then I saw the price. $70-$100 would have been OK. This figure is $173 US DOLL HAIRS. The other figures range from $125-$155, so they jacked the price on this one considerably and it doesn't even have any accessories.

OE is a chinese company. Both, BBTS and AmiAmi have to import the doll into their respective countries, and then export to any outsider. Now, I dont have the details and this merely a guess, but I think the taxes for importing something in Japan are pretty high, hence nobody suggest to buy american toys from AmiAmi, in fact, if they have good prices on figma and related is because they are on the same country.

Even so it doesn't cost the same (like $150ish) with no accessories. It costs more. Also most of that sculpting is on the head and back. It's not like she has a full set of body armor. The arm was already existent (and the ponytails as well now that I think about it) on another figure so they probably just recycled that.

They can charge whatever they want. I just won't buy the figure. $173 is way too much for just a cool looking figure.

It's probably the Hot Toys pricing model coming into effect. Hot Toys started raising their prices arbitrarily a few years ago and most of the other companies have followed their example.

I read several reviews of OE figures that make them seem fragile and generally hard to deal with if they have many parts. They still look nice, but I think around $100-$120 was a very solid price point for them.

That really fucking sucks, here I was hoping with the risw of 3D printing we would actually see price drops soon.

And man, fucking Hot Toys, they used to make all those cool awesome military figures with a ton of weapons and gear, and the prices were just about sane for all of that, considering the sheer amount of miniature gear and accessories involved it made sense.

Now in the past few years they have completely switched over to licensed movie and TV lines and that's how they justify their ridiculous price increases, that and celebrity headsculpts.

I really hate what they have become, their licensed stuff is too expensive and too boring often for me, but all the other toy companies like Dragon, Very Hot, Sideshow have good quality and interesting militiary or scifi etc figures with lots of gear and accessories but still charge a couple dozen dollars too much in my opinion, but they feel fully justified doing so because HT is doing it with licensed shit.

Fucking Hot Toys.

Yeah tell me about it, they used to have such cool shit back in the early 2000's, would window shop like crazy imagining what I would do with the figures if I ever bought them in the future but now they just sell licensed movie stuff and remade their website and all the old images and links to their discontinued military figures are gone.

Thankfully other companies are taking up the 12" military figure mantel and I think in a few years time they will surpass Hot Toys previous military figs in quality too.

Still can't afford them anyways but, cool to look at.

So does /toy/ (the dozen of you who can afford them) prefer rubber/seamless joints on your 12" female figures or with joints visible?

I used to be against joints being visible and it would turn me off from the figure but now I don't care as much since its a figure and it needs articulation and the best way to do that is with joints.

But then there are few figures with rubber joints or seamless body joints w/e, and they do look quite amazing but there are concerns about the rubber cracking over time and the overall strength of the joints.

But damn, do they look amazing.

I don't know why I care though, not like I can afford any of this, but what do you think /toy/?

It certainly adds significantly to the sex appeal of the figure.

There's an interesting aesthetic appeal to it I guess, I actually like how only the hand and ankle joints are visible.

I dunno it looks nice, certainly one of the most feminine 12" figures out there, although the stuff I've seen from OE is really great too.

Visible joints on a figure of this scale doesn't worries me to much as long as they are aesthetically well made and with a good range of articulation

On OE dolls I wouldn't worry too much at all about visible joints, like you said they seem to be made in an aesthetically pleasing way.

I'm wondering however, the seamless body, is that a separate body you can buy and you put your figures headsculpt on it and accessories/clothes and its like you have two versions of the same figure, with joints and one without?

Because that is really fucking cool, seamless body for light posing and photographing, regular jointed body for heavy posing and long sessions of photography, pretty cool idea.

For that figure especially any body type, joints visible or seamless works because hnnng factor 10000.

But yeah I am interested as well if rubber joints have gotten better or not, or if new materials were made that better withstand the stresses over long term without cracking etc.

Certainly changing to a seamless body would be better for poses with little or no clothing, and a jointed one for when clothes cover most everything already.

Wow I just realized, there are probably companies that sell specialty accessories and clothing for 12" figures separate from main toy lines..

You could probably get a plain body with a headsculpt, and search for basic standard cheap clothes and accessories, maybe a weapon and gear and build your own kitbashed figure...

Hah this is why I love 12" figures, expensive but so many options and creativity potential.

Bloodline introduction

>In the story, there is a group of vampires part of a family known as the "Bloodline clan", which is capable to turning human beings into vampires. Humans can easily gain such powers by writing an envelope with three large 6's and final wish inside. But it's important to not abuse them or otherwise the deal is off and the dealers would be eaten instead.
>It chronologically begins with a war that started long ago between vampires and a Church-like organization known as the Shengdi (圣地 "Holy Land"). One of the veterans from the continuous war is Last, who is now one of the few vampires of "Bloodline" and his daughter, Lilo I.
>She had a dream of living a human life one birthday after living for nearly 500 years and Last hoped to make such a thing happen. Too bad such a dream is becoming hard to realize. Especially when she has the Shengdi trying to kill her and anyone else who tries to help. When several incidents occur with the Shengdi that results in Last's disappearance along with her friends and servants.
>For three years, Lilo wanders alone with her companions missing. She recruits the young vampire hunter wannabe Ye Ren and Cute Ghost Girl Ye Lai, who are preparing to contract with her. After a fateful and bloody encounter with the Shengdi forces targeting Ye Lai, Lilo saves and recruits Ye Ren as her servant. Tired of running and determined to find her father and her place in society, she and her new allies prepare to fight the Shengdi.

What the hell happen!

OE showed some in-hand pics of the final product of Sophia announcing that she was on her way to the people that were getting her, but the face of the figure looked really awful, so people beging to complain for obvious reasons

for a female body she is definitely in shape, you can see the quads and the calves (albeit really short and high up on the leg) are very defined. As well as the abdominals and obliques.
You're right she doesn't have much muscle hypertrophy but for a female body that anon isn't wrong in saying muscle girl either. However, I prefer fitness body.

Her body type is what I would say a fantasy type Perfect hip, waist, and bust ratio. A woman with that body fat percentage wouldn't have breasts like those unless they were implants.

The stainless steel body ones are fucking amazing. Like I don't even care about them for sexy girl purposes and they kind of vaguely creep me out but they're just really really really well-done figures. Like some of the best range of motion you've ever seen on an action figure, but still completely seamless. It's ridiculous. Only drawback is they're still a little bit prone to rips in the material like figures like that are in general, but to less of an extent than most of them, and so far I've only seen people get really small tears that aren't horribly noticible, but that may change with time.
