So I saw four of those Chima Gorilla Striker sets on clearance at Target today for $25 each, but passed on them. How badly did I fuck up? On one hand, I don't give a shit about Chima, but on the other hand, all of those parts and that bigass gorilla mecha.
An idea for a browser plugin:
When on bricklink while browsing a store it will display the average price of an item next to the vendor's price.
Would really help to quickly gauge what is worth buying without going back and forth to the catalog to look at lists of this shit.
Kind of fucked up if you're interested in the pieces. Even at MSRP its a good price, and you can sell of the minifigs you don't to make back most if not all of what you spend. My advice would just be to check back tomorrow, my local Target has them reduced and they're still not moving.
This is a fantastic idea actually. I'm surprised there isn't a full plugin pack for Bricklink, actually. There's a lot of info that could be worked in to each page.
I don't, but as someone will inevitably point out when it is posted: it's not an impossible build. Using a knife or pin, you can make contact with the red axle through the slot to push it out.
>tfw we'll have new Bionicle, Star Wars, and Half Life 3 in 2015
Probably not what you're talking about but I did that once when I was a kid. I took a 1st-gen Toa torso, then stuck one of those axle connectors with a hole in the middle in the top and held it in with 2 2-long axles. I still have it lying around.
I can't remember what I was trying to do there, maybe just seeing if it would work. I was like 7 when I did it. I am also have way too few tires because I would chew on them until they started coming apart. Otherwise I don't think I broke anything.
>Until confirmed, please treat this info as a rumor
Holy fuck can't you people calm the fuck down until it's officially confirmed? It's like you enjoy being set up for disappointment or something.
I'm actually not that much of a Bionicle fan. Hell, I didn't even know Gali was a girl until this year. I just have way too much faith in leaked set lists, since I've never seen a false one. Add to that TLG requesting the leaked display to be taken down, and tada! I'm convinced enough to make a piss bet for the sake of entertaining my fellow anons and prepping my palate for the post-apocalyptic wastes.
Conversely, I don't understand how you're so pissed off that someone believes in something that you don't.
Now, Half Life 3, I'm surprised you didn't jump on that one as being farfetched.
Rumors are fun to talk about. So let's do it some more - what's rumored to be coming out?
-New Bionicle line
-Bunch of new boring City Police shit(j/k, they're okay)
-Detective Agency modular(no idea how solid this rumor is, sounds too good to be true)
-minifig-scale Minecraft(or does this count as confirmed?)
I want to know what LEGO's next space-theme will be.
>TFW it would cost you at least 40 dollars to make a custom kill bill technic fig.
You can actually shift that assembly to one side and shimmy a knife in the resulting gap. Catch on the axle with it and push it out a smidge. Then pull out the knife and repeat until the axle is out far enough to grab. Repeat on the other side and you're golden.
>I want to know what LEGO's next space-theme will be
This. I just hope its not humans vs aliens four the umpteenth time. I know it's almost guaranteed to be, but I can dream.
I'm watching some Brick Show vids, and fuck, Jang really is the GOAT.
The Arctic Helicrane is marked down to 20 Euros in a sale, should I bite? If I buy the small snowmobile set as well, I get a Hungry Hippos travel game for free.
Lego delivery came today! Got this and SSPD, for $40, this set is awesome, easily the most detailed and best mini figure villain I've seen to date, I can't wait to build the SSPD with my GF tomorrow!
>SSPD for $40
Was this a no minifigs auction or VIP points purchase?
I'd go for it, if only because a reduced price is the only way you'll get close to a fair price on any Arctic set. While the review probably mentioned it, those oranges are all going to be slightly different shades, if that's something that will deter you.
Going by US MSRP, all of the Arctic sets are over 10¢ a piece, meaning they're all priced similar to licensed sets. I don't know how well this converts to other countries, with the already inflated prices on most sets however.
Awesome of you to include and update copypasta, OP. Although I recommend posting the Latest News too, in the second post.
Back on topic: been remaking the Power Digger collage with every single new image anons have posted.
>-minifig-scale Minecraft(or does this count as confirmed?)
>priced similar to licensed sets
Licensed sets don't actually cost more than regular sets, usually they're close to or less in cost than the non-licensed sets of the same price point.
Of course, that's price-per-piece. If we're going by price-per-weight, although it might not really differ all that much, you'll see that the Arctic sets are priced rather fairly, since they use large-ish pieces like the boat hull, or the plane nose.
Of course, there are exceptions such as the Marvel X-Jet, but I think hulls were used there too.
Is there a place anyone can donate legos to people who need them? I want to start building neat stuff, but I am poor and don't have enough lego bricks to do anything at the moment...I was hoping to find a place where older builders can pass on their bricks to 'newer' generations.
Built this for the thread challenge, a little M-Tron styled robotic helper. 35 pieces.
Ironically I don't have anything M-Tron related so here's a blacktron2 minifig for scale.
yes and i forgot to mention. it contains exactly 40 pieces counting the big guy himself. i may post more entrys later this week due to this being an easy challenge
Lego Batman 3 pre-order bonuses announced
> Amazon – LEGO Batgirl Keychain
> Best Buy – LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham
> Digital Comic Book by Comixology
> GameStop (Disclaimer: GameStop is Game Informer’s parent company) – LEGO Plastic Man Minifigure
> Target – LEGO Batwing Miniset
> Toys “R” Us – LEGO The Joker Keychain
> Walmart – LEGO Tumbler Miniset
im def going with Plastic Man
I hope those double injection minifig parts are appearing more often in regular sets and not just the CMFs and china produced figs.
I hoped for something more usefull or someone from my wishlist but oh well, I can get the game in a year or two for a twenty anyway.
heck yea! more decool stuff came in! im really digging them!does any one know if its safe to take their arms out? would it be done the same way as normal figs? i tryed earlier but it was stuggling and i didn wanna pull too hard. and would a real lego arm fit in the socket good? i wanna give winter soldier his robot arm rather than flesh
My first attempt at building a robot-thing. Looking for constructive criticism. I know some of the pieces are the wrong color.
These are some that I made, in case you want to include them.
A lot of them feel like "well, we have to put SOMETHING into those sets" and so we get stuff like Trevor's bumper car, Killian's speedboat, Deadpool's heli, the Hydra Tank and so on.
And yet on the other hand obvious stuff like the Fantasticar or a Ghost Rider on his bike gets ignored.
I've taken plenty of their arms out and swapped them around. Have not had any problems. Just use caution.
Even if you do break something, it's like they're pricey.
A regular lego arm will probably be fine, but there's a possibility it'll be a little too loose or a little too tight. The connections are slightly different. but it should work.
Anyone know if there's gonna be a new Ultra Agents release? I'm new to the hobby but from what I've seen of monster hunters and galaxy squad they tend to have like, two good-sized releases.
I want more villains.
The EXO-suit has been revealed, http://www.newelementary.com/2014/07/exo-suit-tease-and-reveal.html
Mark also points out that there might (not will, but might) only be one production run of 21109 Exo Suit. So get it when you see it.
Seconded. Thread challenge seems like a good excuse to go out and buy a cheap LEGO but after checking out my local Target, TRU and Walmart in the past month, I've come to the conclusion that there are just no polybags around me (unless they are in hiding)
Made some mixels. Now i want even more eyes and ball-joints.
This is suffering
You know what fuck it, 10 of each, I have the money.
I building a thing. not sure what it is. ideas?
Well, send it to where you are now if you have friends/family that can resend it to your home address if you miss it, otherwise just send it to your home. That's just what I'd do. Ir's up to you really.
Finished putting together my SSP Dropship today. Shit is tight
you make me want a blob big fig, come on decool! or i may try to make one, i made a not to bad brick built rhino figure
Has anyone picked up or seen a town square?
Is it worth it?
Plas' legs are just black with printed red, though. I don't think they can produce double injection regular legs yet.
However, it's entirely possible to start seeing more of the new short legs and arms in regular sets, since they first appeared in [email protected] set Simpsons House rather than the CMF series.
I like both of 'em. The two tone colors really make them look better than they do on their own.
Are those Oz books in the background? One of them looks like Jack Pumpkinhead on the spine and there's a chicken on another. I'm still hoping for a generic public domain Tin Woodsman in the CMF series eventually.
>That gas station
Pic related is king of lego gas stations
>I should re-build mine.
Thanks! I honestly expected to get shit for having drawings in the back for some reason.
Here's an extra 'cause you liked them.
So I want this Plastic Man minifig pretty badly. How do the minifig exclusives work for preorders? If I preorder at Gamestop do I have to go pick up the game relatively early in the day on release to guarantee getting one?
Thank you sir you are a gentleman
Where did you buy those? I need to find myself a copy. I only know about Barlowe a little bit
Also I forgot I came here to post pictures of some new minifigs I got from bricklink.
I got myself a new bricklink order in. Anyone know of any creepy mutant/alien/mythologic creatures I should add to this? Or any girls heads in genosians skin colour? Incidentally you can see why I like Barlowe...
Holy shit he's making my husbando.
Hey so I just spent about 3 hours dicking around with a pile of technic/bionicle shit trying build a smexy looking upper half for my Rahkshi. Unfortunately can't unto this technique from just looking at pictures so I'm gonna go and see if I can find some guides or something, if any of you guys know anything about these types of builds and you'd be will share some tips or link me to some guides I'd be real grateful.
>so I'm gonna go and see if I can find some guides or something, if any of you guys know anything about these types of builds and you'd be will share some tips or link me to some guides I'd be real grateful.
I've been searching for some for awhile now but still haven't found any. I know a few threads back there was an anon that dumped a breakdown of a build that he had copied. You might try scouring the archives for that or they might be lurking and be able to repost. Aside from that, if you do find anything please share. I'm in a similar state of having recently reacquired my preteen mother lode of Bionicle with absolutely no idea how to make complex bodies.
Also, somewhat unrelated, but do you have a flickr I could follow?
>I know a few threads back there was an anon that dumped a breakdown of a build that he had copied. You might try scouring the archives for that
Ah, here it is: http://archive.heinessen.com/toy/thread/S4246598#p4249113
>if you do find anything please share.
In the time I've spent searching this is all I've come up with. It was kind of helpful but not entirely.
>do you have a flickr I could follow?
Hey just in case I confused you, that picture I posted is not mine it belongs to http://vox22.deviantart.com/. and to answer your question, no I don't have a flickr.
Awesome thanks for that.
Thanks for the link. I'm following Hugebricks already, but never noticed that album.
>not my image
Good thing I kept the "MOCs on dark backgrounds: Don't do this" comment to myself then.
Hey /lg/ I have a bunch of MOCs done (and WIPs) but most of them aren't the same colors/same color scheme. Any ideas?
These are the MOCs I have done/working on atm.
give me suggestions.
>Trim. (for things like gears and other stuff that shouldn't have color.)
I live in Australia, everything costs more over here, including Lego, and the ultra agents (as well as the Lego movie wave 2) sets haven't hit shelves yet, I couldn't wait to buy them
Tried the challenge, i'm at a round 50 pieces. It was a pain in the ass to buid a mech using that bike-torso. Also, i'm out of ball joints.
Playing PVZ garden Warfare, digging the Knex, make Mechas.....
All mixels bow to your King, Mixelander the First.
I tried to build it for the weekly challenge but its roughly 55 pieces so I guess it doesn't count.
I recall at the height of the Power Digger regime, one of the naysayers was whining that he didn't like the Digger because he liked trains better. We told him to make a train out of it and he deemed it impossible. Glad to see this finally showed up.
Fuck, go to any news about Bionicle 2015 and you get all this bitching about Hero factory-parts, how shit they are, how people will refuse buying the sets if they use them, etc.
Aren't they better than the old bionicle parts?
So why did LEGO stop using printed pieces and now almost always use stickers instead?
Shouldn't LEGO care about quality first? I mean, no matter how good those stickers are they WILL peel soon or later.
I think they are cheaper. Some people say they like stickers because this way they have the option to apply them to other pieces or use the pieces without them.
I like printed pieces and never apply stickers to my sets.
Two reasons. First off, the cost. Stickers are much cheaper, and last long enough (multiple years at least if you don't toss the stickered parts in a parts bin). Second, the non-permanence. Stickered parts are more useful for those buying sets with the intent of building other things - you don't have to apply the stickers, and they can be removed. Think of, say, the Chima stuff - those sets are great parts packs, but wouldn't be if all those gimmicky stickers were printed parts.
I just found this guy in a box in my closet, I don't remember buying it so it must have been a gift a long time ago. Now that I look at him he's pretty great.
Green for the money, gold for the honey.
I thought the turtlebot in the Exo-Suit set was adorable, so I made one for the best space faction.
buildings. buildings. BUILDINGS. don't start with vehicles, and try to get into general buildings instead of police stations etc. Also if you want to make a proper City, plan it oiut on paper firts.
How do I into lego mechs? I can never seem to get any of the pieces I need to build these kinds of things. What sets should I buy that are the best for customs?
finally i completed my mixels collection, now my wallet is afraid now of series 3, hope it's not coming TOO soon.
also they're the only bricks im going to mix in the box, i used to mix old sets 20 years ago but those were different times, back then we didnt even knew the term "toy store", i was buying lego in health & beaty... stupid translation,a place where you can buy shampoos or cleaning stuff , how do you call these?
First, buy enough baseplates and/or road plates to cover your build area.
Note that you don't necessarily have to use road plates, as there are plenty of other options. (Tiles, SNOT'd bricks, et cetera).
I have him too
Mine though was a gift for a friend who already got him, so he let me have my gift. I have no idea how mine got all fucked up though, lost it for a few years and this happened
I can get this bad boy for 10 Euros plus shipping (6.75), should I bite? Woman selling it calls it a Bionical, compatible with other Bionicals. Set's complete, with instructions
On closer inspection, it seems to be missing the bley Tahu mask on the front. But flicking through the instructions on Brickset, it seems like they omitted the step of placing it on, so hopefully she has it around. If not, bitch better not try tohaggle with me here.
hey /lg/, I just got the batman flyer poly bag and noticed this piece doesn't fit on any other Lego pieces. it's like it's deformed and will force itself back off another piece. anyone see this happen before?
I'll keep our little journey condensed for our 56k warning pals and those who aren't interested in a massive image consuming tale of awesome team work.
In keeping with the thread challenge of the week, we welcomed a new addition to the desk-access pile, a polybag that appealed to the current... aesthetic?
Is there a site that has a bunch of pics of alternate builds for specific sets? Whether they're MOCs or the pics on the back of the box, I'd be interested, especially if they come with instructions.
It was mostly, however, because Bob really wanted a hat. I mean, he wants a chevron vest, too, but one out of two ain't bad.
Problem is, the hats these days are made by a different factory and you can feel a difference in the minifig plastic (if you can't already see a difference in the color.)
Anyway, there was this guy who looked like Gordon Freeman, who looked like he was going to be taking over.
Solomon Grundy want Lego too.
So I stumbled across pic related while looking around google images and that lead me to this site http://custombionicle.wikia.com/wiki/Custom_BIONICLE_Wiki It has an assload of custom bionicle mocs, ocs and other crap. I'm sure if you dig deep enough you'll find something useful.
Of course, we had the option of starting out with the instructions like a good construction worker would... But, not only is that not the point of the challenge, but the weird-scale cherry picker-ish build they have here wasn't all that appealing in the first place.
My bad guys didnt realize the file was so big. here have a scaled down version.
No, to get the job done, we obviously needed the help of a robot.
Of course, there's not a whole lot to work with here, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what I can do by combining with the Power Digger. Maybe I can complete a decent forklift build this time.
To Be Continued...
It's the power digger built without opening the bag I think, this deserves it's own collage
On a related note, I put my VIP Retro Spaceman and his robot buddy together in their bag without opening it
Starting to into lego mechs my self.
I have a box full of parts from sets that I got from friends and family I didn't want to put together. So I can build probably 10-15 mechs, with, or without minifigure compatibility.
Nostalgia's a hell of a drug.
This one looks like it wants to rape something badly
>a site that has a bunch of pics of alternate builds for specific sets
Rebrickable.com seems like what you're looking for. It's all MOCs. You can enter in what sets you have, and it will tell you what MOCs you can build. Some MOCs are just rebuilds of a complete set, some MOCs use multiple sets, and some are just random collections of pieces.
Looking at this is painful. Look at the quality of that packaging. The clear explanation that you can use regular Lego bricks with Duplo bricks. All the pictures of alternate build possibilities.
I'd be more inclined as a parent to purchase a Lego set for my child if they still did packaging like that today. I get that market tastes change, but still. It was so inspiring! I wish Lego hadn't quit doing it. I don't think ideas being on the internet is a good enough excuse to not show at least one alt build on the packaging. They used to do that shit for little 20 piece sets, even.
>MFW I can't remember if this was me who was bitching or not
I think it was me, but I think that comment was a facetious one.
Ain't it though? Nothing better than acquiring or re-building a set you played with when child
>Pic related, I re-built mine and nostalgia'd so hard
Duty calls, and so ends a long day of idle building.
I decided to go for the forklift, again, however difficult as its been to build a functioning lift with the available parts.
Included is the Power Digger, Zaptor and the 1970's Street Sweeper cart. My design is following something similar to another MOC based on the forklift from Halo Reach.
I like using the hinges on the side, of course, because that allows me to create a functional build, but I wish I could make the armature a bit longer, and I need to reconstruct the fork dramatically.
And bootleggers continue to bring us characters Lego won't...
I want a new Star Wars Lego set or two. Have about $20 to spend. Thinking of getting the TIE Interceptor micro-fighter, and the Kashyyyk Troopers set. I'm also eye-ing the Millennium Falcon micro-fighter (I don't have a new Han Solo figure yet either).
I already got the other 2014 trooper packs, the Turbo Tank microfighter, and the Grievous set.
Also I should mention the Dooku & Yoda set is underrated. I love the new Yoda figure! It looks like Yoda from the Original Trilogy (has that puppet look).
Check what I found at a local Walgreens.
Found last years Clone Troopers vs. Droidekas.
Last and final shot. Clones loaded up on the look out.
Damn stupid people and there accidental false advertisement, i was really excited for steam punk lego. i guess we got a bit in monster fighters

Cant decide if I want to turn both my Droidekas into one that call roll into a ball.
Im definitely going to be going back in a few days and get a few more for new pieces.
>upgrading of the 60052 Locomotive design
I think I'm gonna call this finished. It's now made to look like a little old GP20, and has two working headlights.
mfw the last time they did this was probably this year
They also came out with a flaming Johnny.
Guys, I'm thinking of getting myself a set.
Was thinking about grabbing a bunch of smaller sets from Super Heroes line, OR "The Unexpected Gathering" from The Hobbit.
What would be the better choice?
That depends on a few things.
If you're looking for the better build to keep assembled, Unexpected Gathering (imo).
If you're looking to add a wide variety of parts and colors to your bin, SH sets.
If you're just looking to get minifigs, it's all personal preference.
The Hulks are pretty bloody great, plastic quality is on a level with LEGO, sturdy, rich, the only points I would bring up are the inconveniently placed injection spots and the spray job on the shorts in a bit hit-and-miss. The face decals are really well done.
The Fantastic Four are a bit of a letdown, the molding and printing isn't the best, perfectly acceptable, the legs have different connectors than official LEGO, the torso angles are sharper, hair casts are softer than the official counterparts. molding at this smaller level might just be a tad too small for chinaman.
The Things are just as amazing as the the Hulks, nice tight joints, the detailing is top notch, the face decals are a bit inconsistent, but that's pot luck really. The injection points are hidden amongst the rocks. As LEGO currently has no plans for Thing, pick this up!
The whole lot cost me just over 7 quid with free shipping from china on ebay from 'buyhereagain2012', which is a no brainer really. The bigfigs are ace, and although the minifigs aren't as great, they're so cheap that you could pick up an entire set for the price of one blindbag minifig. Its worth the gamble.
That's nice, this thread still has 20+ images to go.
£7, and the guy has the entire decool and sy range, learn to internet.
Weird, according to this dutycalculator you should have paid 14 Pound in VAT.
Did they just not control your package out of dumb luck? I would like to get their Captain America collection to Germany but these horror stories about paying 30% on top, having to drive to some office to get it there and maybe getting a criminal complaint when the stuff is counterfeit sound so scary, do you know about this by chance or did you just order without thinking about it?
£14 VAT would be 200%, that doesn't sound right
Didn't really think about it, assumed the order was so light and small it would slip through like the many times before, and if it didn't ,the vat on it would so small I have no qualms paying on it.
If you can believe Russian sites then the sets will consist of the original Toa Mata together with some spider-like creatures, smaller sets rumored to be Matoran and that large black and red spider seen on the leaked image.
Oh sorry, I mistyped 7 as 70. That costs nothing like you said.
Well, in that case, let´s see what they have. Are the 30 things at the end of every product listing really all they have?
