That's what we were hoping, but US is getting
Mini MINI Cooper with $99 purchase and
Chima Worriz Fire Bike with $50
>>
>>4279283
Isn't that a regular old polybag? Looks like I'll be waiting a while to join VIP.
>>
>>4279291
You don't have to be VIP to get the August freebies.

And being VIP is gonna be worth it if you're planning on getting any sets this month anyway, since the points do add up.
>>
>>4279329
Yeah I know, I just have a list of ~75$ in sets I want to purchase and buying before the promo interest me seems like a waste. I just know the next month after I order will have something cool.

Maybe you could get the Shredder and trade it in for a previous exclusive minifig that you missed.

The summer stuff has already been released, so August.

I'm really looking forward to wave 2 even though I haven't finished wave 1 yet. Stores near me don't have Rocka's Stealth Machine, having to build it out of spare parts.

Woo it stands! Next robutt is gonna be a biggun'. I finally got a super solid leg design with full poseability. The hips are still challenging to remove the 'slop' in the gearing. Probly work on the torso next. Skinning it will be the funnest part
>>
So Virginia Brickfair is coming up - anyone been? What can I expect? If I bring some stuff to trade is that allowed?

I managed to get a couple extra Martian Manhunters I wouldn't mind parting with. I saw there are a bunch of cool vendors so I'll definitely be shelling out for some stuff, but is the event mostly MOCs?
>>
>>4279561
you can trade all you want but to sell you need to register as a vendor I think. They had a yard sale segment last year where everyone could mingle sell and trade.
>>
I went to Downtown Disney California's store and they had the premade ladder bricks
>>
>>4279556
Looks great. I can't wait to see how it turns out
>>
>>4279281
My apologies. I had the new thread cued up and was waiting for the image limit, but I fell asleep at 142/150.

But really, there's no need for me to start every single general. If one needs starting and I'm not around to do it, someone else absolutely should. And if that OP 'fucks up', just post the pasta in one of the first handful of posts, and move on. No need to waste 60 posts complaining that the OP didn't do it "the right way". Everything is awesome etc, etc.
>>
>>4279469
How do reviewers like JANGBRiCKS get sets so damn early? I had thought the new Chima stuff came out at the beginning of the month, with how early he had his reviews up.

Jang I don't know, since he is a fan reviewer. He may live in Denmark, and may be closer to the source.

Finally added in the Arctic part of Arctic hardsuits. Now I'm building them from the three Flexors and Arctic Snowmobile. Trying to get settled on a design I can 'mass produce', obviously not this one, given it's a spindly nightmare of proportions. But hey, progress.

Went through Brickipedia last night and quickly looked through every theme that was launched during my dark age to see if I really missed out on an anything I would've wanted.
Narrowed it down to 4 sets at first, but 7018 Viking Ship as most of you probably already know is crazy expensive, and all the listings (sticking to Bricklink) for 7773 Tiger Shark Attack were already built.
It might sound stupid but I wanted to actually get the sets in their box and everything - so I could actually build it - which led me to order these two.

I'm sort of excited.
>>
>>4279469
Chima stuff is actually out already here in the Philippines, and I'm assuming you guys got them first.
>>
>tfw not enough engineering knowledge, creativity, and resources to build a sharp, plastic waifu
>>
>>4279709
Both of those are great sets - the SPIII set has the Skull Twins, who are neato, and the Atlantis set has the hammerhead guy and the Atlantean armor. Definitely good choices.
>>
>>4279626
Lego's Community and Events Engagement (CEE) Team looks for reviewers they think would be fit to promote new product and sends new sets to them ahead of release date. They don't send every new set, though (New Elementary for example only got Benny's SPACESHIP from the second movie wave, instead of the entire wave). And at the same time, they don't send everyone the same sets (ie. BZPower and Eurobricks getting the 2014 Chima action figures, but not Brickset).

>creativity, and resources
Go out and buy 3 or more of the same color mixel and at least 2 legend beast wolf/lion. You wont need all that much creativity because the mixels will give you a solid theme, ice, fire, rock, electric excreta(whatever one you pick) and with the additional ball joints form the wolf/lion you'll have all the resources you'll need for a waifu.

And here is that guide in case you didn't catch it the million other times it was posted. Congratulations you now have no reason to not make a waifu.

Smaller sets don't seem to have a markup in terms of tax, so I managed to grab perky Gail the Construction Worker and finally cave in on the Power Digger.

I guess people believe what they want to believe.
>>
>>4279996
Hey, I don't believe that it's true either but the pic was supposed to be an early prototype so it's likely that it's a quick mock-up in photoshop rather than a proper photo.

However, the fact that they spelled "separately" wrong, aswell as the lack of the "confidential" stamp that's usually on LEGOs stuff is pretty big indications on that it's fake
>>
>>4279996
>>4280021
Real or fake, I just hope this means we actually get scans of constraction sets when the '15 retailer catalog is released. We've always gotten the short end of the stick while the other themes were given copious fuel to their flames.

The one catalog leak we even got for IFB wave 2 was a third of the page next to the summer Star Wars sets, goodness.

Fuck, I keep on getting the next shipping rates even tough I try to keep a big gap for packing materials.

I mean that, like, I want to get the shipping rates for up to 50 gram LEGO, I purchase a little less than 40 and i STILL get the rates for 50-100 gram instead.

Is the database on LEGO weights wrong, or how much weight is people using on packing materials? It's kinda annoying having to pay like 2,50 Euro for shipping when you're buying parts for 2 Euro

I have a possibly very stupid question. Do any of you sell your MOCs? Have you ever done a commission piece? If you haven't done either, would you?

I have neither the resources or visualization skills required to create such art and often wondered how I could go about obtaining something specific made from legos. A couple examples could be things like a Firefly class ship like Serenity, or a Mako from ME.

Since we're nearing the end of a week, may I make a suggestion to keep the weekly challenges monthly? It gives more people time to work on their creations, and would probably generate more than usual.

As for the next challenge, how about a challenge involving a $10-15 dollar set to remake it into whatever you can? It'd be like the Power Digger but at a whole other level. We could use a Chima Beast or a set of 3 Mixels, or some creator set. The Construction Hauler might be pretty fun since for $18 you get 250+ parts

>>
>>4281366
There is an angry Unikitty keychain, if you don't want a $100 set or to pay $25 to some jerk. I also think it's lame they didn't pack in extra pieces to make I AM BECOME DEATH Unikitty.

I am kind of surprised the usual KO outlets in China haven't made movie stuff. They've already got Simpsons KO stuff out, but not movie? I know quality can vary on those bit if some company did $3 Unikittys that had decent face printing and okay plastic quality they'd sell quite easy.

Not that they'd have to lower too far to match the Lego quality on this thing.

>face and eyes are pink
>face on many copies is slightly off-center
>the green stud for the neck doesn't grip as tight as it could, head will probably come off if you turn the neck

This is why I prefer the keychain.
>>
>>4281425
>There is an angry Unikitty keychain

Build a weapon. Any kind, any make, even out of your imagination. It can be small enough to be handled by a minifig, or big enough to be held in your hand.

Give your weapon a name, and a description of what it is and does, whether or not it's real.

Doesn't have to be CMFs. You could pick a Pirates guy and give him a little pirate house.

I had a similar thought of "make a scene with two minifigs interacting with each other", but I had another idea for "make a scene on a 16x16 baseplate".

I don't know which one to submit as my choice.
>>
>>4281497
Permutation on that idea, CREATE a minifig and make a small scene to accompany it.
>>
>>4281467
Build a mythological creature. Can either have some basis in actual myth, or completely original.

8x8 character vignettes based on your rarest/most expensive/most loved minifig.

Photo cheating is allowed to create depth but keep it to 8x8 or 10x10 as the space constraints encourage creativity (and won't turn into a week long building construction, not that its a bad thing)

OK, that's probably enough choices:

>take any minifigure, and build him a robot buddy

>Recreate a historical scene with lego

>create a minifig and make a small (10x10) scene to accompany it

>Rebuild any set into something different using all (most?) of the pieces

>Build a weapon (any scale)

>Build a mythological creature

>Build something train-related

>Make a scene with two minifigs interacting with each other

That's eight candidates. If anyone has a problem with any of these or wants more clarification, post soon, because I'm gonna make a strawpoll later today.
>>
>>4281844
eBay is usually good for those things. Where do you live?
>>
>>4281391
I'd suggest making a polybag MOC. A small vehicle or spaceship with a low piece count, doesn't need to be minifig scaled but it can be a theme build.

Got the Spider-Cycle Chase set recently and god, I hate it when Lego puts dozens of different colors into a set for no real reason.
I can understand stuff like making the various pin-types in different colors so it's easier to see which pins are the friction ones and which the loose ones but this shit here is just ridiculous.

So a new issue of railbricks came out, and there's an article where they interview two of the set designers for the trains released in the last few years. There's a few things worthy of note:

>Designing sets around Power Functions is hard, don't expect small locomotives any time soon
>They admit the one-piece front in the 2006 passenger train was shit, and that the new piece in the 2014 set is a big improvement
>No intentions to expand on track pieces (Crossings, wider curves, etc) due to market research
>Steam Trains have been tested in the city sets, but don't seem to appeal to the kids as much as Diesel/Electrics
>They'll consider additional train car/locomotive/building sets when the core market (The kids) wants it
>TLG is totally fine with 3rd party bricks/stickers as long as they don't infringe on licenses/their molds
>The two dudes they interviewed want to make a full-on Train theme again, along with a Round House
>>
>>4282069
The one piece front from the 2006 passenger train is beyond shit, it didn't fit thenother bricks which peft a gap, tgere were four fiddly stickers, and even if those were placed perfectly it still looked bootleg. I have four of them in my useless parts bin.

Nice as that is, I doubt much a helmet will fit with that collar in place.

How difficult is it to print custom torso decals, and is it better to go with stickers or watersldie decals? I want to make a number of FPS heroes. Doom if I can find the torso armor(got my eye on one) and Caleb from Blood will start. Caleb I can do with stock parts. But if I want a decent Duke Nukem or Serious Sam I want better torsos. I did find a stock torso which could work as Duke if you don't care that it's not accurate, but if I can just use decals that'll be better.
>>

>Nice as that is, I doubt much a helmet will fit with that collar in place.

The helmets fit fine. The CMF series 7 Space Marine dude, and the Series 9 Space Ogre all use that armor and have a helmet too.

>Just outta curiosity what's the name of that train mod?

Traincraft.

>And can you tell me a little about it?

It adds trains that use the vanilla track? Fuck minecarts, yo. Fuck 'em.

I also have another mod called Railcraft that I always keep next to it. It's run by different people, but RC adds all the signal blocks, switches and other fancy shit that benefit relatively realistic railroading. If you play TC without it, you are no brother of mine.

>Railcraft also adds a bunch of fun shit too, like industrial things to use your trains with like car loaders, unloaders and machinery.

So, for Traincraft:

I will try these too as I'm working on building a modern city of my own.

Can you suggest a similar mod to add small cars and trucks to the game? I tried Flan's Mod, it didn't seem to want to play well with my other mods, and most vehicles for that are huge. I'm also stuck with 1.4.7 as later versions give me problems(namely, the game freezes up at the generating world screen when I try to make a new world, so I'm stuck with the last one that'd run for me), but if it's a good mod likely they'll have a version back that far anyway.

I just want some 1 or 2 block wide cars. Trying to build them out of blocks is horrible, they look like crap. I don't even care if they drive or not, I'm content with decoration.

Rebuilt an old set that amazingly mostly survived being in a Bionicle tub that I gave away to a friend in muh dark ages. Unfortunately, one of the missing pieces was the mask and one of the blades broke, but the price for those few pieces is far less than having to buy the entire set. The collar is big enough for most helmets, I think only the Galaxy Squad/Alien Conquest ones don´t fit but when you have a specific helmet in mind I or somebody else could test if it fits.

I also think that Lex will get a release next year. The game uses this costume with a printed 1x1 stud on the chest as his standard costume so they probably release him wider, especially since he is something like the main villain.

TRU Buy 1 Get 1 40% off on Superheroes, Chima, Star Wars, Disney Princesses, Hobbit this week.

What's the best way to build my collection of pieces? I don't really care about sets, I just like building stuff.
>>
>>4283754
eBay sells Lego pieces by the pound, but it's unsorted and no guarantee that you'll get any of the pieces in the photo.

Still, if you just want to bulk up, it's pretty cheap.
>>
>>4283754

If there's a LEGO store near you, go there every month or so and get a Pick a Brick cup.
>>
>>4283765
No LEGO stores around me for a good 2 hours, unfortunately
>>
>>4283769
Four hours for me. I had a lot of fun at the brick wall, but unfortunately I went at a bad time for the Build-a-Fig, because most of the parts were ones I already had or didn't want.

Question: Probably more expensive than BL, but hypothetically speaking, since they define a minifig as "five parts", could you just stick 15 heads in a container and count it as your three figs' worth?
>>
Is it wrong that I like to get shitfaced and build sets? I hold off on the decals until I'm sober, at least...
>>
>>4283779
As long as you're not breaking or losing anything. Creationary is a fun party game for this reason.
>>
>>4283783
I have a 13x9 baking tin that I keep all the pieces in for that very reason

Only if you get a particularly unobservant cashier. There's probably not 15 heads you want in the bins anyway. I can usually barely find 3 I like.

Hey /lg/ what is the easiest way to clean lego? I have had a big trash-bag of lego sitting in my garage at my mom and dad's house but they smoke in there and I'm willing to bet that they smell like shit. I'd like it if they did smell like shit. Also before any jumps on my shit about leaving them there I didn't even know they were there. I had lost interest in lego when I was in middle school and high school. So my dad bagged 'em up one day and threw them in there he wanted to give them away to little kids but never got around to it I guess, I thought he did it. But as I've found out they found it in there after some late, LATE, spring/summer cleaning.

So what is the best way to clean lego? what brand of soap and all that thank you in advance.

>>larger waifus

I'm trying. Torso has omni-directional flex. Needs to be taller. Legs are shorter but hips still giving me trouble.
>>
>>4283821
They are plastic, not something extra delicate.

Fill the bag up with warm soapy water, let sit, rinse it out.

>>4283825
Have you tried use the thing that 44022 uses? I don't know the piece number, but it has a pretty nice set up for 360 hip rotation.
>>
>>4283825
>>4283825

For BIG hinges, try putting 3 technic 2x1 bricks in a row, with a cross-axle-hole technic brick at the end. Then put a 3-axle with stud end through and use plates or bricks to lock the technic bricks into two pairs.

Two of these make a strong hip with no gear-wiggle. Do you understand? If not I will make instructions.

Failing that, use gears but cancel wiggle with a stick in hole (extend axle from gear with axle extender and then stick a light-sabre or whatever into the end of that and anchor that).

I have built big robots before, but not as beautiful as yours, so fitting these into a sexy booty may be impossible.
>>
>>4283841

44022 uses two ball joints in tandem. It means the leg movement is limited and also the leg contour changes with movement. It is crap really. Also, probs not tough enough for this giant lass.
>>
>>4283845
I meant above that. The two gear pieces.
>>
>>4283841
44022? What is that? Part number? Post number?
>>4283844
Not strong enough. I'm looking for a solutiion to the splay or outward motion of the legs.
>>
>>4283850
44022 is the set number.
>>
/lg/ I just went on a ebay sniping spree and bought a few too many bits. I really didn't have this money to spend but I sell on ebay too so I could make a bit of it back. what do you think of the prices?

>>
>>4283845
>>4283852
oh yeah. Two ball joints wont work there. I may use them on the arms. I'm using them on the ankle pivot and shoulder rotation.
>>
>>4283850

I've used it for robots weighing over a Kg. Would work for splaying out.

I will brainstorm things for you...

>>

>>
>>4283821
Put them in a pillowcase, tie the end shut, and wash them in a washing machine with laundry soap.
>>
>>4283994
I have bleach but not soap, what brand of soap should I get or is >>4283841 a better idea?
>>
>>4284004
Go with >>4283841
A big sack of plastic isn't gonna do anything but strain your washing machine and accumulate laundry detergent which I work with consistently enough to know is just awful stuff if it collects anywhere (and it will).
>>
>>4284004
Just letting them sit in soapy water won't do much to remove the smoke stink. Get some laundry soap like OXY or something similar; oxidizing should help remove the smell.

>>4284009
I didn't mean put the entire haul in one pillowcase...
>>
>>4284009

also, god help you if the bag opens during a tumble cycle.
