'Weekly' Challenge: Create a minifigure-scale vehicle using only mixel parts!
Posting the new Ideas teaser for exosuit again as last thread died.
I really hope one of the figs is green :(
More like "weakly challenge."
Last challenge sucked anyway, unless someone's been taking longer than a day to work on their submission. Then, by all means, take your time and submit when ready.
I, for one, am excitedly preparing to meet this request.
Teaser image for the Exo Suit
Fuck, look at that sexy greeblin on the wall, LOOK AT IT
>old thread still had 28 images before the limit
>old thread was only on page fucking 4
>sets up a new thread challenge not knowing we spent a whole thread discussing and voting on our favorites
>random ass quotations around weekly
This fucking OP man. How do you even fuck up this badly? Also shitposting my relevant image because it's not like we'll hit the limit anyway.
I'd been meaning to do this for some time actually, so OP, fag or not, has my thanks.
These space bikes I made for the space bandits I posted a couple of threads back are made from one Kraw each. Adorable as the little bugger is, he's not got very useful parts compared to his friends... or so I thought!
I'm just going to just go out on a limb and just assume he rushed the thread so he could have the privilege of picking a challenge, not realizing we got all democracy up in this bitch 2 threads ago.
and finally, a shot of the side and the back. Back's not too pretty, but the dang thing is made from one mixel, so shoot me
Okay, here's a question.
How do you make your collection feel like a cohesive "world" rather than just a smattering of loose models sitting on a shelf?
Because not everybody has the space or money for fuckhuge displays like image related.
I add small detail.
For example, I have a small Battle of Geonosis display with a Republic Gunship, a Spider Droid and a bunch of Clone Troopers, droids and jedi
I've built small (really small, like 20 pieces a piece) "Rocks" and other kinda terrain bits I've spread over the shelf. I've also built a small stand in mostly trans pieces so the gunship looks like it's hovering, I've also displayed them "actiony" with Clone Troopers fighting at close-range, Jedis slashing apart droids, Clones teabagging a Droid etc etc
So Ive decided to collect marvel and DC minifigs what are some cool ones I should be looking out for?
Taskmaster is dope btw
OP here. I am sorry to cause such offense, i thought i would post the new thread before i got ready for bed.
I did not know there were this many rules to starting one and I apologise for any annoyance or faggotry. Goodnight
Mainly on what colour they be now will be seeing as the white dude is the store exclusive. Its black and white so you cant tell what colour apart from Its not white or yellow.
Im guessing we will get a blue and red.
I just reaaaallly want to finally own a green one like the concept M tron dudes
Eh, kinda similar; they really threw pretty much any colors together in the Classic/Futuron days.
Okay, I kinda lost track of what I was doing here... I ended up making that bottom most section to make a canopy but things just sorta got all topsy-turvy. Looks like a hovercraft of some kind. I wanted a car, but then I really can't put any wheels on it save for the discs. Maybe a boat of some kind is in order...
What do you think?
I got all 7 a while back on ebay (151330400552) for £20, and it appears that the same seller has two more sets available for the same price.
Also, the pull-back motors are good for doing daft things: https://www.youtube.com/watch?fv=jbJn7Ybx82k
>only mixel parts
Pop those disc's off on the sides and add arms and a pair of small legs.
Hey guys, I want to get the classic space dude on the UK store. Any recommendations for around £25
Yeah, but nobody has been doing that challenge since its inception in the last thread, so why not have two challenges? Besides, custom minifig challenges are bitch for anyone who doesn't have a plethora of more recent sets and minifigs.
>Galaxy Squad Swarm Interceptor
I have it already, was thinking of the agents car as it has the same pilot and that fire dude :P
Any other ideas? I was thinking of maybe railing pick a brick
>Creating new thread WAY before its needed.
>Coming up a new weekly challenge, not even putting a start date.
>Going all commie by going against the popular vote.
>Creating a title that isn't even related to the challenge.
>Didn't bother finding the latest LEGO Quest or Suit thread, nice show of support.
>Not posting the latest news.
JESUS OP, this makes me want ol' 'bump limit retro sets OP' back, sure he was a bit premature, but at least he didn't fuck up this bad.
Bricks and Pieces on lego.com is awesome in case any of you haven't tried it before. You can order (almost) any piece currently in production including a lot of exclusive minifigure parts. Plus they allow you to search by part number or by set number.
I just ordered a bunch of the puking faces from the Mixer set, for instance. Plus a bunch of other cool stuff like a Dalmatian for my modular Fire House. It's flat rate $2.99 for shipping too, which is funny because you'll pay a minimum of $4.99 if you order from Pick-a-Brick on the same site...and that has a very limited selection.
The only small problem is that you don't see the prices until they send you the email estimate and then you have to call in the order to pay.
It's worth it though man...I dare say it's better than Bricklink in some cases.
Not OP, but I think it's retarded to keep posting in a thread after it has reached the bump limit. That just makes the thread too inclusive and doesn't garner any posts from those just browsing /toy/.
Once bump limit is reached, a new general should be made.
Lurk more. You do that, and you have like 5 Lego generals in the catalog at once.
It works with other topics on /toy/ because those threads are slower, but the Lego generals are pretty fast.
It's not that hard to use the catalog, you know. There's even a search bar, ffs.
too inclusive? people just browsing toy? c'mon we all come here to post in the lego general, learn to use the catalog.
And so we wont reach a new bump limit just by complaining about the thread, let me actually post something. I just gave my aquaman a sidekick.
On the front page, click on "missing pieces" under the customer service heading near the bottom of the page.
It'll ask your age and what country you're in, then on the next page it'll have four options. The first one is the option to buy a piece.
The next page will let you choose between the regular crappy pick-a-brick section and the other option is the Bricks and Pieces. Select this.
You'll then have the option of typing in a set number and viewing (almost) all the bricks in a set or typing in the part number of a piece. You can then add whatever brickd you want to your cart. If you want to add more bricks from a different set, click the "Add Another Box" button at the top of your cart and repeat the process.
When you're finished, hit "checkout". It will ask you for some info including your address and email. You aren't obligated to buy anything at this point, though, so don't worry about the fact you are checking out without knowing the price of anything.
In about 10 minutes, Lego will email you a list of everything you selected and here is where you'll see the prices of everything. If you decide you dont want to go through with it or if one of the pieces is too expensive for your taste, you dont have to do anything else. Just ignore the email and move on.
If you find everything to your liking, however, just call Lego and give the sales person the order number from the email. They'll make sure all the parts are in stock, they'll have you pay, and then you're done. You'll get your parts in a few weeks.
Superherofriends, do you want to post your teams? Because I want to post my teams. I also want to see what ya'll have.
I haven't taken a photo of my X-Men (still workin' on Chuck's chair), Justice League or Dark Avengers, but here's what I have.
First up: Fantastic Four
>I really hope one of the figs is green :(
Yeah, then I can finally make this.
Agreed. And in most cases the prices are pretty decent too...with some exceptions.
I ordered all the parts to Pixal from Ninjago, and everything was great except they wanted $2.00+ for the gray wig. So I redid the order with everything except the wig. Figured since I didnt care about the actual character and just thought she looked cool, I could easily give her some other cheaper wig.
They really do need to rename it cracklink.
Post your orders!
Red box items are what I'm super excited about.
Hey, thanks! Kinda thankful for the retard OP if i'm honest; I wanted to do the Agents challenge, but i'm off to Sweden for a month as of today, far from my LEGO and far, far away from reasonable LEGO prices.
>mfw seller on Bricklink goes for the next level of shipping rate even tough I had many grams to spare
Everyone ITT needs to relax. The OP that originally set the Villains challenge neglected to put the start date next to it. This OP fucked up by not letting the old thread max out, but it's understandable that he'd think a new challenge was due. Besides, everyone should keep in mind that these challenges are just to get people creating with some goal, not a super cereal competition to be maintained with the upmost rigidity. Not to mention, using all of these posts to bitch and moan about OP (not to mention the quasi-related discussions in every thread that turn this place into a glorified chatroom) only add to the speed that these Generals move at because it ends up being only around 42% actual Lego discussion.
Next OP just has to post the Villains challenge and remember to post its starting date (06/29). Errybody cheel.
These. I have everything organized by theme, but until I start dropping dosh on some baseplates, nothing is going to look cohesive without imagination/inebriation.
I've seen at least two 'submissions' and I'm currently working on two myself.
You should reread the part about giving Aqua Man a sidekick.
You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.
The black CS fig cost me more than all the other ones CS figs combined.
The Galaxy Squad are for making new members so that each team gets 2 humans and one robot.
>Everyone ITT needs to relax. The OP that originally set the Villains challenge neglected to put the start date next to it
Nah, it was pretty clear that the old challenge ended on Sunday, and the new challenge started on Sunday, and since it was a weekly challenge, it runs until this coming Sunday.
So Exofans, given the choice, if two versions of the Exosuit were produced, one in pre-2002 light grey ( which would match the classic space sets), or post-palette swap (Light Bluish Grey) which would you choose?
Anyone got any nice builds on Galaxy squad style troopers?
I like the idea of different colours but these look too different from each other
>Besides, custom minifig challenges are bitch for anyone who doesn't have a plethora of more recent sets and minifigs.
Yeah, it's better to have a challenge with just Mixels parts (you know these parts only found in few recents sets).
I just ended up making a Space Girl Squad instead of a Galaxy Squad. :-) I felt that they all needed to be more individual, personally.
Actually, I got that head out of a Build-a-Fig. I think it's originally from a witch or pirate lass, but I don't know for sure. And I like it too; I tried the neon-trans-green, but it stood out just a little too much. Still need to find some printed legs for her, too. lol
Also, sorry about the resolution; I always forget to set my camera to small pictures when I'm snapping for posting.
>Go to local toy store
>Notice that they have a box of Holocaust Emmetts behind the register
>Get Scuba Batman and Penguin
>"Hey, I saw that you had some LEGO bags there, could you throw one in?"
Really nice, I don't know if I'm gonna keep it or sell it tough
Sent, sorry I have been sleeping way too much recently.
Has anyone seen this set in stores? I'm about to give up and just order ten online, or at least the nice orange pieces I'm missing.
You might find the minifigs in pic related even more different from each other or like them more. Takes more effort to put toghether - same suit color from top to toe and all transparent LEGO visors available.
My current collection is a bit bigger now so ill take a newer pic now
I don't remember pj emmet being at t'r'u as a promo... I thought only walmart/target/bestbuy/gamestop and the 2 different theaters had promotional polybags at all... does this mean other toys'r'us locations could be selling it retail or was there another promo I did not know of?
Drawfig here (currently away from my stash), so working on an entry for the challenge, looking for ideas for the torso.
Original idea was goldfinger type with a rugged eighties mad max vibe, called Nick Cool (getit), but there's already a gold villain in agents, so hes now into jewels/diamonds. Any idea?
I'd say some segmented armor like this, and make him obsessed with Nepalese culture, and thus carries a gurkha which he uses to behead his captured agents.
I imagine a character that's a little bit of a hopeless extrovert with a temper. Idk i'm just throwing out ideas at this point.
damn, you just beat me to it. here's a more HQ version of it. Lemme know if you can see any details. It looks detailed enough to satisfy me, thats for sure.
Nothing says bling like Disco Dude.
There's a lot of empty space on that box that isn't part of the mech. I guess the real question is who are the baddies gonna be? If you've read the neo classic space book "Building the future", which you SHOULD, the two baddies in those are worm like aliens, and the blacktron, who are mind raped by the aliens, and turned into their slaves, essentially. New Elementary commented on "A" minigure being in the set, so I'm going with the worms, as much as I'd love to see an official Neo-blacktron minifig.
They said when they posted the teaser vid yesterday "24hours etc"
The barrel can be subjective though to what you see it as its like the rcs thruster/megaphone part, ive use the barrel for engines and cannons jut fine.also they changed the hand part to a parabolic ring which should be sturdier, the change might allow wrist movement if its using the new reverse bowl too!
I can't really tell from the photo -- Is it going to be all regular dark/light bluish grey, or will they throw in some metallic or pearl pieces as accents?
Furthermore: What's TLG's policy on having elements in previously unreleased colors in the Ideas/Cusoo sets?
Click on anyone who sells like the fantastic four or thing sets. Look through their items. You're looking for a set of 8 comic style Avengers figs. A search for 'superhero minifig' should also pull it up. Sheng Yuan makes them.
Separate head Hulk is great. So is everyone else in that set.
Most of the people I buy from ship quickly. I usually get them in about 10 days.
It is a great set but I had to swap out some heads. See my pic above.
I really dont want to buy a bunch of other figs to get Hulk, specially if they are sheng yuan. And now that I know about it, I barely want to spend any money on hulk. Its hard enough to expect a good fig from decool, sheng yuan looks worse.
Well anon, it's gonna be $8 for 8 figures with free shipping or you might find that Hulk sold by itself for $5-$6, probably with shipping cost. You can make all sorts of great characters out of those other figures.
As for quality, Sheng Yuan has better printing and quality control than Decool overall (even though Decool does nice work compared to most other bootleg companies) and they even stopped using those weird backless legs they used to produce.
SY does excellent work. I've bought enough of these fucking things that I think SY is my favorite, even if Decool does different characters than everyone else. If that makes sense.
If you buy them as lots you shouldn't be paying more then a buck each. Buying the singles cost more usually.
Hell I ended up winning the WWE set for 16 cents the other night.
Just gotta camp and bid.
Yeah, what the other anon said. Get the original lots/sets they come in. If you don't want some of the figs, give them to a friend or use it for parts.
If you buy them in their original sets you're looking at around $1 (or a tiny bit more or less) per figure and free shipping. It's pretty rad.
there was a character pretty similar to that in the previous agents line!
I think I just used retarded english
I want to create an army of soldiers using the new space helmet, but the galaxy squad soldiers look like different factions
I want them to look more similar but still different colors to specify their branch but I don't really know where to start... perhaps use gray as base color somehow
You know, maybe it's my lack of attachment to either Bionicle or HF's fiction, but I believe this is real. As long as they keep the CCBS (Creature and Character Building System) going I don't care what they call it.
Can't wait for the full exosuit reveal, hope they make smart use of the Mixel joints.
Fuck yeah articulated Lego robots.
nope, more than one minifig confirmed.
PLEASE let it be Neo Blacktron bad guy, PLEASE let it be Neo-Blacktron bad guy,
It even fits the neo classic space plot to include one! "Heavily armed", implies weapons, which impies human engineering, which implies Blacktron! Come on, just give me THIS!
Allow this CREATORfag to illustrate all such as wut with a preliminary image
It will be both members of the salvage crew and the turtle bot
Also what colour would be salvage ?
The in house canon for the classic space men were:
Red/White - two branches of explorers
Yellow - Scientist
Blue - Mechanic/ Engineers
Black - Military but it was kept quiet
Its me hoping but please let salvage be green or grey!!!
Grey for salvage seems right, but use green to complement yellow and split Science into astrobiology (researching food supplies, biomes, preserving species, etc) and "classical" science, respectively.
Oh whatever I'm not trying to prove anything other than the fact that I didn't shoop some stupid phone screenshot. This could be real, or not (I think it is), as long as they release some useful new parts I don't care what the theme is.
Friendly reminder that we usually don't get leaks for next year until around late August/early September when retailers get the 2015 catalogs.
Hey lil niggas, does anybody know what this is from??
Hey Guys, I finished my V8 of my party van design if people want to see!!
Up until the switch, the grey pigments were from a different group of chemicals compared to their other colours.
The pigments for Grey had a habit of yellowing and becoming fragile when exposed to extremities over time, not to the same extent as the mid-90s white pigments, but enough that lego decided to switch whilst there production of grey parts was quite low, at the end of the first Star Wars license
Well, fuck me. I have an idea for the thread challenge but I can't bring it to life with my current minifig parts selection.
Cussoo / Ideas has shown an erratic pattern so far. Plus, PR has lately been a creator-led effort. The project is barely a few months out of beta, so it's not fair to compare it against TLG's usual way of doing things.
To reiterate, I'm not trying to piss on your chips, it's just that this is not the usual pattern of leaks.
Considering that other places sells Lego at lower prices, one place I know even does it up to 30% cheaper, I just think it's a bit of a bad deal since the whole point system only amounts to about a 5% discount (actually a little less since, as I mentioned, you lose out on points by spending them).
You'd think that the Lego store, the store most affiliated with the Lego company itself, would have the lowest prices. I must not understand economics at all or something because it just doesn't make much sense. Feel free to enlighten me.
A former actor who starred in a bunch of 80's style action packed films, think of him as a MacGyver/Jackie Chan hybrid who actually knew about his shit and did his own stunts.
Over time, the entertainment industry moved on and the guy eventually lost his job, now living at a junkyard, he wants people to notice him again.
Armed with the knowledge from his heyday, he builds a couple of drones with cameras who follow him around and he starts filming a reality TV show of sorts with Astor City as the stage.
Behind a wheel of a rebuilt muscle car, he drives around the city doing EXTREME stunts and defying the local authorities, causing lots of property damage in the process. They can't keep up with him, and that's where the Ultra Agents come.
Aesthetically it's supposed to be a tie-in with the Murrica challenge. I'm trying to come up with the vehicle but the fact that I can't make the minifig in first place has left me uninspired.
It's a danish site though, so if you don't live in Denmark, I guess it' not that useful. The discounts are mostly on sets that are not discontinued, but you can't get discontinued sets on the Lego store anyway so...
In any case, I've bought from them before and they've been fast and reliable.
>That power car.
.. Ehhh.. It looks nice, but I prefer MURRIKAN.
Yeah, but MB is still an established company with their own properties, rather than an actual Lego knockoff. And those minifigs that are based on characters Lego hasn't touched yet? Those are knockoffs of of customizers' designs, which is even worse.
Not that I like MB.
Sorry for destroying your dreams(or maybenot)
The villan like this already exsists.
It was named Bill Dolar.
These folks rent lego sets out. I got to play with a lot of cool sets I wouldn't have paid for so thats cool. Downside is they don't have a lot to choose from.
I love some superhero bootlegs and I have no problems with Mega Bloks. Their halo and bling bag superhero guys were pretty neat (though the straight up human faces like Cyclops, Thor or Halo marines look creepy as fuck).
I just like that Decool/SY dudes fit in with my lego superheroes.
Though superheroes is definitely not the only lego theme I collect/am interested in, I just love muh comixbook.
Mega Bloks seems to do some cool stuff though.
What are those long red rods in the front? I'm not seeing seams so they cant be the technic cylinder that can hold 2 pegs in it. Do those come in different colors? Looks like it would be a nice piece for a tank gun
Yep, I've been really wishing the new CMF series would come out because, now that I have the Simpsons I wanted, there's no point in getting another. The accessories and parts are no where near as interesting as the other series', except Scratchy's tail. Speaking of, what would be the best dye for that flexible plastic? Vinyl dye like everything else?
On the one hand, I was hoping they'd do well enough to justify future licensed themes - 16 minifigs and one or two big sets.
On the other hand, those heads look really out of place and these characters do not lend themselves to army building in the slightest.
I live in Sweden, I feel you too, the LEGO Store is almost always the most expensive to buy from, thus I only buy from them when they have special offers (like the martian manhunter fig)
I also buy like 4 CMFs since they're the same everywhere then sell them off Ebay to spend less money on [email protected]
I think it's justified in TLG's case and those of artists like Nathan Sawaya, where the resulting creation is practically a sculpture already, and to take it apart would be a disservice to its fans. I don't think it would be a waste to any of the used pieces.
The Ferrel case is different, though, in that the layout is sure to continually expand and rearrange, and it would be an unwise decision to have any of its components permanently put together. Not even those who actually build those types of layouts would want to glue their models down.
I tried to kragle a torso that had cracks on both sides all the way up to the armpits, but as soon as I put some legs on it, the cracks broke back open.
I even waited more than 24 hours. I guess the best way might be to put glue near the armpits, put the legs in, then compress it really tightly. I just didn't want to risk gluing the legs into the torso.
Here you go anon, is this the kind of thing your after, abit more Ken from Street Fighter than Jackie Chan. He's picked up a couple of scars and tears to his worn out suit.
What about Ken Doe as a name?
Crimson Culprit sounds good.
O well, should've done more homework.
Never properly looked at Brikwars, so I guess its coincidence. Honestly its got more in common with LEGOs Illustrative style.
>310 / 74 / 4
Can we try and post more pictures guys? Dayum shame to see this generals expire with so few.
Does Batgirl have the largest tits out of all Minifigures? Or are there even more stacked ones?
