I used to be really into them for about a decade or so, but I haven't bought a set in a year or so. I mean, the Marvel license especially has really been shitty the last few years. Little to no box-sets, too many MCU Waves, way too many updates of the same characters, no cool SDCC stuff. Sure, the Wolverine Wave is nice and all, but look at all the rest.
Anyone remember the days of the Dark Avengers sets? Or the TTA Box-Sets? Or the Character Waves? Nowadays it's all MCU, MCU, MCU with some obscure characters thrown in the comic waves, alongside updates of the same A/B-Listers.
>>6348732
I totally feel you brother, I'm in the same boat.
I fell in love with Minimates because of their deep character line up and their small scale. They scratch my itch of collecting while not overtaking my shelves with 6inch hunks of plastic.
But yeah, since the MCU has become their main thrust (Marvel wise at least) I've been buying less and less and generally losing the desire to keep buying. I loved that Avengers wave late last year (or early this year) because it reminded me how awesome all those big classic costumes look on these little guys. And I loved this new Wolverine Wave way more than I expected, but honestly that's probably because of the audacity of that Mojo figure.
It's so shitty because I want an MCU line to tank so they'll make more comic lines, but I fear that if a line bombs hard, the whole line will just get cancelled.
Sucks man... Really sucks.
The comic waves still prove to be good. The MCU ones are always kind of disappointing, but, it's just proof that DST just wants to push safe bets that they think will sell. Too bad that I constantly see MCU stuff clearanced, and can never find the new comic stuff.
Even the comic waves I'd say aren't up to snuff the last few years. They refuse to make a Moon Knight, but they give us two Blizzards and Shanna? They're not even using the Halloween 4-Pack to put out some supernatural characters. As if the Zombie sets that get clearanced in a month sell much better. Add the MCU overload and the weird comic choices, and this line has really gone downhill.

hooray for uv damage!
look what i got
daily reminder Stylet is lewd
Can we get a thread started for these?
It's been a long time since I've seen a non-superhero/transformers/tmnt toyline in stores and I gotta say some of these ships look super cool. Really disappointing they didn't go for a floating gimmick with the ships. I understand that they're really more like tiny playsets than they are vehicles but it seems like such wasted opportunity to not make the pirate toy line float in water
The Silent Mary Ghost Ship is definitely the best thing to come from the line so far. The second I get the cash, that thing is mine
Anybody else feel the same about the toy line? I'm excited for the new movie and a lot of these toys look pretty cool, especially the lego sets they're putting out, so I'm surprised nobody on /toy/'s talking about them
Looks like one of those cool old Fisher Price pirate ships. I can certainly dig it
See the problem is. There really aren't any toys for this movie. There is that set you mentioned, a couple shitty imaginext tier toys that go with it.
And the Lego Silent Mary. That's it
And I have heard NO plans for future toys aside from Hot Toys releasing Jack Sparrow...again
So I'm really not thinking POTC deserves it's own toy thread...
oh shit that looks like something 10 year old me would have wanted, Pirate Ship toys are so fucking cool.
Hey /toy/, how do you deal with bugs and other pests?
I started collecting about two years ago, and I noticed that I've been getting springtails on the open shelving near some of my figures and media cases, not hundreds but maybe tens. getting in at a time. They apparently won't damage stuff but I feel like all bugs either shit or die on stuff.
I haven't been too great at dusting, I vacuum weekly though. I tend to only do a quick dust, should i be picking up and moving my figures every time i do?
I think it's worth noting that the only real space i have for my collection is in my basement. I was thinking investing in a dehumidifier or something might reduce pest levels or am i just fucked?
nah, you're just fucked. I've been collecting shit for years and I've never had that problem. Clean up a bit better and maybe it'll stop.
Or call pest control
>>6336461
Ok, that's nasty. No reason you should have silverfish or springtails on your SHELVES. Maybe in closets or in boxes. I feel for your collection. Could someone find out where OP is so we can liberate and save his figures from a bug shit encrusted moldy doom?
>Headmasters
>Dragon Duocons
>Primus reissues
>Good Megatrons
Is it worth all the shitty reused molds for these few gems?

How does /toy/ budget each month for toys. My spending is getting way out of control. I have no room for anything yet parcels are appearing everyday.
Any advice?

Only buy from series you have watched and are a fan of?
>>6357361
Think about what you liked as a kid. What compelled you to like a certain toy. Collect the best of that.
It doesn't necessarily have to be things you have nostalgic attachment to, just buy things you're drawn to and are high quality. for example, I own sentinel dancouga and SoC Gaogaigar, because I love combining mecha, but have never really watched their shows; simply because they're good quality figures. Conversely, I've barely bought any Batman TAS merchandise because most of it isn't very good. there's also things I like as an adult, that Id on't feel are very toyetic and thus I ignore. Like, I could never be one of those 1/6 scale collectors spending $200 on a Morgan freeman or Jack Nicholson figure, just because I like those actors, it doesn't mean I need to have a toy of them.

I really like these 3 HEAD ON bots.

That's inaccurately colored, BTW. The sides are covered up with raptor skin. The only robot kibble that should be showing are the tops of the knees. How the guy who colored it could have fucked it up is beyond me.

Thread Challenge: make a SPACE ROWBOAT fuck yeah
Or some other space-inappropriate vehicle like a bicycle or maybe a space speeder bike because we have never seen one of those before
New thread when?
reposting this for thread challenge.
Am I they only one who'd really like a mobile version of LDD?
I bought a cabinet with a glass door to put my 1/6 scale figures in (pic related is basically how it looks) but I have noticed that there is a smell coming from inside the cabinet and the longer I keep the doors shut, the stronger the smell is when I open it.
It's not coming from the figures cos I've taken them out and the smell just won't go away.
Is there anything I could do to try and get rid of the smell?
idk if it's safe to keep my figures then in a cabinet like this.
I know most have just glass cases that they put these types of figures in.
Should have bought an all glass display, not only can you see your stuff much better but it doesn't smell.
>>6354509
take it completely apart and clean it.
Hijacking this thread to ask
Does anybody know of any white cabinets with glass doors that are perfect for displaying figures and storing media like movies, books and games?
I'm looking for something that's secure, like no way for bugs or shit to get in through the back (I have some incredibly shitty shelving/cabinets right now with this issue.)
Is this worth $1500?

Help me out here lads. Many years ago, probably about a decade ago by now, I came upon the coolest set of toys I ever saw, a full set of RC cars shaped like dinosaur skulls. I explicitly remember a T-Rex one which I immediately purchased and broke just as quickly. It looked somewhat similar to pic related from what I can remember, there were many others there however including a triceratops and I think a velociraptor.
The toy wasn't just an RC car though, it had red lights in its eye sockets and a movable arm claw and jaw. It even came with a DVD showcasing its ability to destroy army men in epic CGI glory. I've been unable to find information on these toys anywhere online so if anyone here can remember or even owns one, please let me know.

Bump for op, I remember it but can't name it.
Also this reminded me of your thread so I thought I'd share.

thank you brother
Came upon this motorheadz toy that looks very similar to what I described but without a big claw or any electronics
For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

Frame Arms Group Build
This time the idea is to build any Frame Arms, or Frame Arms Girl kit, and paint and customize it.
The rules are overall pretty simple, the base must be recognizable as FA or FA Girl, other than that there's no limit on what you can do.
Due Date: September 1st
Note: This is a prize build, there will be a prize provided by me, there will also be a mystery prize provided by another anon. That means that to enter, I need WIP pictures submitted before the due date. Simply email me some pictures of you working on it, I don't care at what point, as long as it's possible to tell where your final product came from.
Prize Pack:
MSG Free Style Bazooka
MSG Impact Knuckle
MSG Beast Sword
MSG Assault Rifle #2
Miscellaneous supplies
I'm probably going to add more, but I'll let those be a secret.
Email: [email protected]
I'm also available via IRC and Steam.

Are the fingers wired at least?
>>6340521
I never knew a salad fingers figure existed. There a Hubert Cumberdale to go with him?
He-man and The Masters of the Universe were a part of my childhood. I love that cartoon. It taught me several good lessons.
So I decided to buy some MOTUCs. I have been reading about this line for quite time in The Fwoosh.
I went to eBay and most of them were 90~100 USD, and I don't have money for that.
How can I get cheaper MOTUCs? WIll they ever be re-released someday? Can you post your MOTUCs in this thread? Thanks!
>How can I get cheaper MOTUCs?
Invent a time machine. I know that's a cunty answer, but the only way prices are going to come down is if there's someday a newer, even more expansive and articulated MOTU line, and that's going to be a while, if ever.
>Will they ever be re-released someday?
Some are. The new manufacturer, Super7, is releasing "Ultimate Editions" of He-Man, Skeletor, Teela, Ram Man, and Faker, although preorders are closed. They'll probably run you $50 a piece when they come out. They'll probably do more but it looks like they're moving to an "all-in" model much like the one that kept MOTUC from reaching its full potential.
Personally, I always felt that at minimum He-Man and Skeletor should always be available, maybe Man-at-Arms, Teela, Beast Man, and Evil-Lyn too. I was lucky because I got in at just the right time (mid-2011) when all but a few figures were still affordable. I have a friend who loves He-Man, but by the time he discovered Classics they were already way out of his price range. Ultimately this lack of evergreen figures kept the line from growing beyond a few thousand die-hards.
>>6340432
He-man and Skeletor were perpetually available at Matty for YEARS as signature in stock items. At one point China was bleeding stolen versions everywhere (mainly from the DC 2 packs).
You guys just really really *REALLY* missed the boat.
>>6340350
There are two packs on Mattel's eBay shop of terror claws skeletor and flying fist he-man. Also the laser he-man and skeletor, and snake armor he-man and king hiss. They are 40% off and free shipping. That is probably the cheapest way to get a he-man and skeletor right now.
The cheapest way to get classic versions is to wait for the super 7 versions to come out.
