I have a few questions for people who are probably more knowledgeable than myself. I already know all the stuff about avoiding heat, humidity and sun exposure but how about storing toys? Is there any rules I need to take into consideration?
I have too many toys in my collection and my place is super small so I have to rotate stuff out but some stuff i've left in boxes for years. Is that a problem? Should I just open them up every now and then or do they need to be removed entirely for prolonged periods of time?
Also, when storing toys in their original boxes does it really matter if they're upright, laid down on their back or sideways? I find sideways gives me more room in my setup or some lines but will storing them sideways cause warping or break them? Most my stuff is imports with full clam-shells if that makes any difference. Just wondering if these clam-shells have been designed with a certain orientation in mind or not. Thanks in advance.
You may want to take them out once in a while to avoid possible paint transfer on the clamshells if necessary (which is why some figures have plastic wrapping, like SAS).
And in some areas, move the joint avoid paint getting stuck inside the joints. This also applies to out-of-box figures, but it's something that's only an issue if it hasn't been touched in a long time.
A lot of people say that plasticizers may leak/may leak after after they've been stored in their boxes for a long time, but I have no experience with that personally so I can't say anything.
>I have too many toys in my collection and my place is super small so I have to rotate stuff out but some stuff i've left in boxes for years.
If anything, your problem is not selling off the shit you haven't touched and care about anymore.

>may leak faster*
Also, if you have anything stored in plastic ziplocs or whatever, get them acid-free.

Cardboard boxes tend to be a magnet for dust. Its a good idea to wash them with a damp sponge every few weeks to clean them off.
>tfw no more /toy/ hunger games.
anyone else miss them?
Not really. They were fun, but they were flooding the board, even when the HG anon wasn't the one doing them, someone was trying to do their own.
may I ask what this was or what did this consisted of...? I'm not that much of a veteran here

i happened last year, it was a little game/simulator of submiting like 27-30 pics of different characters and put them in a free-for-all battle with events happening at random each "day" (not real life days, just simulated), it was stuff like "X character collected food" or "character Y kills character Z with a stcik on his ass". they were also events where everyone was endangered as well, and usually many of the characters died when that happened.
it got really out of hand in almost all boards at the time, so mods started deleting them because they were way too much just like >>5779659 says.
the fun was the mental image of the submitted characters doing stuff, cooperating with other characters or dying the most stupid and hilarious ways: the most memorable death over here should be pepsiman's, who died of dehydration. it was also encouraged to do OC if you suggested a character

Why do you care about it? He might've been an ass at some point but that's toned down quite a bit.
I'm more surprised that no one has yet to show this guy the uncropped version of his avatar.
FYI, Lego Shop changed their free shipping from $75 to $35.
For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

***GM Group Build***
Rules:
Pick an HG GM, and paint and customize it. For it to count as a GM, it literally just has to have GM in the name of the MS on the box, otherwise, no, it doesn't count. As far as customizing it, I'm going to place a limit on that. The limit is 50% additions to the kit.
To define 50%, look at it like this, you could take a GM Custom and replace the arms (including shoulders), legs, and backpack and I'd call that 50%. I'm not counting handheld bits in that. If you're unsure of something please ask in IRC, the thread, or email.
Due Date: 8/12
Submissions go to [email protected]
Submission format
Please submit photos in jpg via a compressed file (zip, rar, or 7zip), please don't link images to imgur or photobucket or the like. Please also name yourself, even if it's a pseudonym. Also indicate your participation in the contest below.
***Contest***
Instead of doing just a generic group build this time, there's going to be a prize pack. The prize pack will contain a GM Sniper K9, a set of glass paint mixing jars, and a Tamashii stand (sized for HGs or RDs). Shipping is at my expense.
Rules for the contest:
If you wish to enter the contest I'm going to actually need some proof. Please send me pictures of your kit as a work in progress and a final product with a timestamp and your email address. I hate to put his burden on you guys but this is the internet and people suck.
Judging
Regardless of who wins the contest proper, all entries will be made available on a blog post on Saturday, August 13th. Actual judging will take place Saturday as well, with the winner announced that evening. The winner will be contacted via email and be given a two day grace period for responding. PLEASE USE AN ACTIVE EMAIL WHEN SUBMITTING!

I'm sure to the right people that makes sense, but to Average Joe over here, that's complete gibberish.

of all the studio ghilbi characters why did they choose to make this thing
I am thinking of getting these just for the Juggernaut build-a-figure. Are these figures quality?
Are you someone familiar with current Marvel Legends in general asking about the specific figures or are you someone who doesn't have any modern MLs asking about the line as a whole?
>>5778330
Are these specific figures good quality? Do they look good up close?
>>5778332
Very few people have them yet. You could see what's out there as far as reviews. I saw The Fwoosh did a pictorial/text review for Wolverine.
Has anyone tried 3D printing extra parts for their toys? Like extra heads, accessories and that kind of thing?
Let's say if you didn't like the head sculpt of one of your toys, you could theoretically 3D print a better one, right?
bumping for potential interest
you could but unless you had a crazy expensive one it'd be pretty lacking in detail and have pretty clear layers of plastic. You could sand it down and stuff from there, but currently it's not worth it. You'd be better off just sculpting one yourself really.
Expensive, difficult, lots of trial and error. Someone in the polynian thread made high heels for shamrock though.

At least it didn't fall down from that height.
How is this line? Most importantly how's this figure? I'm only finding it for $35 online and can't find it locally so I'm wondering if it's worth the cost or not.
>>5772041
>$35
No way, figure is worth no more than MSRP ($20). It's not even that great in terms of articulation or accessories.
I love Legends, but sometimes Hasbro just gets lazy with re-use and limiting articulation for no reason. It's a weird relationship, like they can get so close yet so far away.
Check out this thread >>5764247
Legends are usually okay. Some are terrible and some are pretty good, but the majority are okay and are mostly just acceptable because nothing else in the scale is probably gonna be released of that character.
That figure's body is kind of shit but I got it anyway because I really like Spider-Gwen. But if you only have a passing interest in her I wouldn't bother. And definitely don't pay more than a few dollars over MSRP. $35 is ridiculous.
>>5772074
I really like the character design, but I don't follow the comics too much or anything.

I know this is probably a stupid question but does indoor lighting make resin yellow?
I just got my first bjd in 5+ years and have her on display in my room and am really worried about her yellowing (Her skintone is peachy and will not look very good if yellowed a lot) I try to keep her in a spot that's out of the sunlight but there's no real space for her that won't be hit by sun at some point in the day.

Wave 1.75 Incoming Edition:
So the next wave is slowly coming out and the reaction has been overwhelmingly underwhelming. There have been a lot of nice ideas going on, but not many have really been "wowed" yet, as it were. Personally, I'm all in, but who really cares about that?
We still have the Black Knight, possible "Forsaken" Knight and whatever has a green skeleton head to look forward to though.
What sort of creatures are you gathering for your knights to hunt. McFarlane? Creatureplica? Or are you just staying in the Mythic Legions line?
