BJD is in the post enough times that I was able to find the thread by looking for "bjd" in the catalog. This is fine, anon.

>To get the ball rolling-- what characters would you like to see him pick up?
Tsukimi from Kuragehime. I might be a little overly optimistic about this, but I feel like maybe there's a chance that some of the more fashionable shojo mangaka would be open to collaborations with Smart Doll since Son of Shoe God is in charge here.

>To get the ball rolling-- what characters would you like to see him pick up?

I was pretty excited when he made the first comments/polls about licenses characters and Solid Snake was among them.
However, after he released his first guy I honestly hope he doesn't do him (unless he goes full Yoji Shinkawa style on him, which I doubt he can).

So, I'm pretty open.
Spike will determine how well licensed, non animu-waifus will work out (because lets honest, Volks does those good enough and it's not like those are hard to do in most cases).
And I'm not deep enough into Anime anymore to bring up characters...and most of them wouldn't work in his style at all.

I'm looking for pictures of non-official Dark Souls figurines (in other words, statues), and maybe their prices. Can you help?

Shipping's pretty cheap too. Only ended up paying $26 shipped in total for Tyrael and Arthas.

Also holy shit, when did NECA get so godlike?
Beautiful sculpt and paint like they've been doing for years. BUT these also have sturdy as fuck plastic too, not like the bendy or brittle shit they used before. Did they switch factories or something?

Am I one of the few who actually plays with toys? I was genuinely shocked when I first got online and found people bought "Figures", and some that are just statues, JUST so they can display them. I realized that I was the odd one out, the majority of people buy figures just to pose them and never touch them again... I am an adult but I like making imagination fights and adventures and stories with toys just as much as I did as a kid

I used to play with toys like that until I was a late teen, but I haven't for a while now. I guess I got busy.

I do like to take pictures of my toys though, and sometimes I try to express a narrative through those. I don't see a lot of point in buying toys just to display, it's why I don't do statueshit. In fact most of my toys are just scattered around until I wanna do something with them.
>>
I just like to transform/pose my figures. no overarching story or theme.

some people don't even pull the toy out of the box anon, you should see the display thread

Here's some tips from the previous threads:

Beginners: practice on cheap figures first.

For sculpting on figures: use 2-part epoxy putty like Aves apoxie or fixit.

For tools: try a basic carving/sculpting set like the kind arts & crafts stores have, and calipers for symmetry.
Dental tools have also been said to work well.
Also, using a Dremel is recommended. Minimites (the small $20-25 ones) are fine for starting out, but the battery life is poor. Upgrade to a corded one only if you want to get deeper into customizing. They are useful for stuff outside of the hobby though, so it's a good investment regardless.

For paints: use acrylics. Paint in multiple, thin coats. Brands like Vallejo/P3/Citadel are recommended, because of pigment quality.

Use a sealer when finished to protect your work. There are matte varieties and sealers that give a glossy look. As with painting, use multiple thin coats.

A flex shaft attachment on a Dremel is a godsend and relatively inexpensive. The grinding shield is also pretty useful, but you can improvise one using a cut open soda bottle.

From last thread:
Looking for leads on commission artist for custom figure face plate and hair piece.

Like those custom figma faces posted except it's for an RAH Sakura. Want to turn her into BB (pic). Right now can only find a way to get the clothes from Etsy/Deviantart.

Looking for some artist who'd be able to make a custom expression and long PVC hair mold or mod to replace the very short hair. Their quality beats price as a concern.

Appreciate any clues on where to look.

You know what series needs figures?

Oh definitely. They're the ideal size for TM heads, their alt modes are appropriately scaled for those little robots (as opposed to someone like Astrotrain/Sentinel, where the cockpit area is an entire spacecraft bridge), and not having to be multichangers allows them to be very good at the one alt mode they do get.
