Is Shadowrun any good?
It's one of the games I've always heard of but never played.
What is best edition?
The setting is ok, it blends magic and sci-fi pretty well and is generally open enough to for a variety of playstyles. Learning to play is a chore though. I can't vouch for earlier editions but absolutely do not use 5th, it tries to include every possible rule from previous editions and is essentially 3 systems attempting to function as one. Editing and formatting of the book is equally terrible making the already Herculean task of reading the core book even more irritating. I would recommend Shadowrun Anarchy because it does a great job of trimming the rules fat but it could be a bit difficult to read since it's written assuming you know how to play original shadowrun. Thankfully other cyberpunk systems are popping up in the event you don't like SR.
It's cool but it's not for everyone. The rules, pretty much no matter the edition, can be fairly complex, and the sheer amount of gear/character options can be overwhelming, especially when you start adding in splat books on top of the core rules.
I personally think it's super rewarding though, and consistently it's been one of the games I've had the most fun playing.
