Traveller General: Too Long Edition

Last I was around, anon decided to try and make the Tiji sector. What ended up happening there? Burn out, or completion?

Our campaign lives on strong!

PCs were able to retrieve the flight data from all 3 derelict vessels, and decontaminate the hybrid virus/organism from themselves and the vessels. Pirates came by, smelling fresh wrecks, and a brief space combat led to the explosion of one pirate vessel, and the other jumping out.

This week they'll be rescuing a family member from the bounty hunter sent to kill them by the top secret corporate-funded syndicate they fucked with

The bounty hunter is essentially an insectoid Predator, complete with grappling hooks, ability to fly, cloak, fire explosives, and with an exotic blade to rend right through armor. It has a few other abilities, and runs all its abilities off a "power" which can be regenerated with an energy siphon. It has the ability to heal itself, and a pretty overpowered ship as well.
It may not wear armor, but it should give the PCs a run for their money, if not leave a few critically injured...

There are no surprise rounds in traveller!

If you're "Readied" for a combat (prepared and waiting) you just count as rolling maximum for your initiative test. So they'd be 12+ Their Dex DM, plus the leaders Tactics if he's there.

I better give the bounty hunter some decent tactics... at least tactics-2

Its possible CT had a surprise round, but mongoose definitely doesn't. 4 or 5 weeks ago before I knew better (and after we'd been playing D&D for 2 years), I did give the PCs a surprise round, and it got one of their enemies killed. Then I checked the actual rules and realized my error.

My group is essentially a team of overpowered combat aliens mercs, working for the Solomani Confederation. They go through starships at a rate of knots, own a Combat drone with a FGMP, and 2 of them now sport battle dress.

One time they took on a job to rescue a businessman's family from 8 gunmen who had taken over the family home, holding the poor mans wife and kids hostage for 80 billion credits.

The PCs covered the surrounding area with snipers, using IR binocs to work out roughly where the terrorists were inside the house.
The vargr leader grumbled that they should have waited till nightfall, when they all heard the thump-thump-thump of a grav copter. The Vargr leader ordered everyone to hold position until it landed. The uplifted dolphin in the battle dress immediately disobeyed and ran out into the open, towards the hostage house.
The gravcopter lit up the dolphin with its light autocannon, but the rounds did negligible damage to the dolphins battle dress (will bring a bigger helicopter next time...).
The droyne thief, from his sniping position aimed at the gravcopter and with an excellent shot from his laser rifle, was able to knock out the grav copter's weapon. It limped away.

The PCs then entered the house, the Vargr leader's tactics giving them the drop on every terrorist in the house. They neutralized slightly-surprised looking gunmen with stun and frag grenades, (The dolphin at one point missed with a frag grenade, and it scattered and hit him, but did no damage due to his battle dress.) the vargr scooping up the 2 kids, while the rest of the house was cleared. They eventually found the wife in the master bedroom, where they dispatched the last 2 gunmen.

What's opinion on Beta?

I liked 25% share of the ship, but I'm not certain how it will work in practice.

Quite a lot was done, but IRL concerns put the project on hold a while back. They got a solid three sub-sectors filled last I checked.
