It appears we are volcanic Giants.
I will write the story in a moment
>>
>>36445420
We could go with Father Holokai, the Hawaiian name for seafarer or he who travels on the sea.

With the whales we match union of volcanic islands and the seas.
>>
>>36445498
That seems fitting.
Op, are we starting at Neolithic level or as a civilization that's been ruined?
>>
>>36445553
We have been ruined, we set out to find new homes.
>>
We are the once proud tribe of the Pilikua. We used to live in the giant homeland of the island of Kauhale, but a great disaster has befallen our proud people. However, we have been adrift, mere stragglers on the Great Sea of Nalu, that none now live who remember it. However, we still have our whales, those gifted to us by our holy god Holokai.
But today, it seems, fortune favors out tribe, for our advance whale scouts see what looks like a habitable island. They say it is a veritable paradise, with all we could want. Do we stay and search for another home, or do the Pilikau make a new home here on this new world?

I also like this name, we do seem to be Maoris/ Hawaiian islanders. Okay, we establish a base and scout the island. I'll write it up now
>>
As the Giants sit in their circle on the great boat, arguing in the next course of action, a familiar voice booms out. "I have seen the red lava flow from the top of the mountain," says Rahena from his place of authority, "This must be Holokai's will, for He has sent us a mighty sign to embark onto this island." A roar of approval sounds from the flagship boat, and the Giants all ride their whales to the location of this new paradise. For the first time in a century, the great ancestral boats of the island have touched land. This island is a veritable Eden, with fruit blooming all around the tree line from the beach, and this island is big enough to support our size. As the scouts fan out to navigate the island, the choice is left on the remaining Pilikau: what do we do now?
>find food and water

10ft, that way if we choose whale shark as our specific whale type (I know it's not a whale) they are 40 ft long, so we got a 1:4 ratio

"Alright tribesmen, there is no time to waste," says Rahena, "we have to find some kind of shelter." All Giants nod in approval, for they do miss the comforts of a roof over their head and a fire at their toes. After attempts to find enough good building material, our scout Tangeta returns with glorious news: there is a system of caves only an hours trek to the north of the island, closer to the volcano. It is large enough to house our entire tribe, and will protect us from the wilds of the island.
>caves are cool, let's build our tribe there

It has been decided: the tribe shall move itself to the cave system. When the scouts return, the tribe sets out, and let's its whale sharks circle the island, watching for trouble. They travel for what seems like hours, until the time comes where they have reached the mouth of the cave. What will soon become home sweet home is for now an empty cave complex. Or is it empty? Just as you start to unpack the things, a commotion starts. It all started when a group of goblins starts to demand to know what we're doing. After a brief confrontation, the goblins say that this is their home, and they will defend it to the death. Do we take it from them?

"Then a fight to the death it is" says Rahena, lifting his ancestral jade club into the air and smashing it into the goblin emissaries. When these 4 are despatched, he leads the tribe out of the cave system, and gives a riveting speech to drive our warriors to the fight: " Sons and daughters of the Pilikua, it is by the providence of Holokai that we were judged to be ready to accept our new Eden, and it is by his strength we shall defeat these heretics! To arms!" And with that, the tribe was ready for an assault. We charged into the caves, ready to fight all who opposed us. We met ferocious resistance, as there were a hundred goblins to the 20 of us, but our superior strength and jade weapons won the day. None of us were injured to badly in the fight, but not all the goblins fell by our clubs. Many of them surrendered at the mere sight of our warriors, tall and strong. We count 30 goblins, mostly children and women, but some men who were too old or too cowardly to fight. What do we do with them?

>congrats, you now are in control of a cave complex, where you can delegate many different tasks. Now, instead of taking the most popular option, I will take the two most popular options when it comes to general gameplay. Desisions are still a strictly most popular ordeal. "It is done"
After all the captives have been rounded up and tied up, the question comes to what to do with them. A young neophyte to the tribe, Kairuku, suggests that we sacrifice the elderly and the weak to Holokai, and use the rest as slave labor. The tribe sounds in agreement, and those deemed physically weak are taken to the volcano. There, they are thrown into the volcano, so that Holokai may know that we still honor his ways. The rest are told to get to work. They spend all day tearing down their old houses and rebuilding them into nice accommodations for the Pilikau to live in. As night approaches, they begin building the goblin residences with what meager resources are left. The next day approaches, and the tribe is parched. What are we gonna do?

The group talks it out, and decides to have the goblins point is around the island. We rouse the defeated whelps from their half-broken-down shacks, and ask the question: who knows this island inside and out? Silence. "Lemme say that again" . This time, Rahena stomps on one of the goblin young, squashing him like a bug. An older goblin steps forward, and tells us he was a cave runner, that there are other goblin caves on this island. Dismayed, we only ask him to take us to some fresh water. After a short walk, he leads us to an oasis in the middle of the rainforest. With a source of water, what do we do now?

With a source of fresh water now secured, and all the fish that our master fisherman have gathered, the basic needs for survival have been met. But now, with no survival needs to be met, the giants decide that idle hands are the great destoyers playthings, so they get to work improving the cave.

The immediate threat is that of the other goblins attacking the cave, which has since been dubbed "Hou Kainga". They get to work, driving the goblins to clear off the back end of the tunnel so no pesky goblins can see the work they've done to the place. Next, they start to craft more weapons from the parts of the fish they don't eat, like the spines from a stingray or the teeth of the sharks. They build many bone spears, arrows, and other sundry weapons. Next, they establish a perimeter watch: one giant guarding the entrance at all times, and another guarding the back at all times.
Since his ascent to the "throne" of the tribe, Rahena has been a very pious man. One day, he wakes up screaming about the will of Holokai, and he takes his things and climbs the Great Volcano. When he returns, he is carrying 3 tablets. He says they were made from the molten lava gifted to us by Holokai. On 1 tablet, a picture has been drawn of the beginning of time...
(Part 1)
>>
(part 2)
In the beginning, there was naught but dark, and Holokai. He, as the wayfinder, gave the world it's first source of light: the lava in the mountains. With this lava, he created the stone of the earth, and from that, the sand and the dirt. His sister, Rorofa'i, was the one who brought us the great bounties of the sea and the water we sail on.
On the second tablet are three commandments
1) To profane the earth is to profane I myself
2) It is a wise man who knows when to conquer, and when to negotiate. Bring me conquest, but also bring friends to my bounty
3) I am the Wayfinder, if ever you have lost the way, you need only to ask for help.
On the third tablet is instructions for the priesthood. It says the leader of the tribe is also the leader of the priesthood. Rahena assumes his duty as a priest as well as his role as a leader.
>What to do now? Attack the goblins while their pants are down? Find more islands to conquer? Find more species to ally ourselves with? Write-ins much appreciated.

>>
And so, the preparations for the goblin assault continued.
The most skilled master bonecarvers got together and slaved away day and night to create armor of every type of bone: shark bone helmets, turtleshell pauldrons, and the like. The goblins continued to be made a source of cheap labor, and were put to use fishing. Now, this freed up the time for the other giants, usually preoccupied with fishing to get to other things. Many of them specialized into crafts like bonemaking, woodcutting, and fruit picking.
Three months later, life is much the same as when they arrived at Hou Kainga. However, they were able to pick up some refugees that were stranded in the ocean, and have folded them into the tribe. The total number of Pilikuas totals 25. One day, some scouts set out to see if the goblins are the only ones on the islands...

As he rides through the jungle's trees, the scout rider we sent feels something... odd in the air. He's been seeing large, man sized birds flapping around, but had blown them off as nothing more than the local fauna. But now, they seem to be... communicating. They fly from the trees, down to where he has been standing.

Rehena has been consulting with the Wayfinder for some time, and he has said one thing: war is coming. Apparently, the tengu have observed them ganging up, making a large goblin coalition. With their battle cry of "Remember the Cave!", most goblins on the island have joined the warpath. The tengu have agreed to help us hold the line if need be. On the field of battle, the odds are hardly in our favor. The enemy outnumbers us 10 to 1, and even though we have superior equipment and magic, there are just so damn many of them. Before the battle Rehena gives a rousing speech: "The lord of lava sayeth: Followers of the Way, hear my voice! I am the finder of the way, the leader of lost children, the one from which all lava flows! I have not abandoned my children! The light of the lava shall not go out, for we ARE the light! And we have not come all this way to be slain here! CHARGE!...
The sounds of battle can be heard all around the island. Lava spikes are thrown, bone armor is splintered, goblins are widowed, eyes are gouged, and weapons are rendered useless. Rehena is the leader of the charge, as he seeks the champion of the goblins. Across the lone and level battlefield, he spots him: the largest goblin he's ever seen. Easily 7ft tall, he is the Goliath of the goblins. Rehena charges across the battlefield, eyes fiery with rage, the lava of the Wayfinder flowing within him. The immense goblin sees this challenge, and charges in likewise...

The battle between the two titans lasts what feels like an eternity. Blows, counterblows, parries, grapples, takedowns, it never seems to end. Eventually, unfortunately, the Giant of a Goblin gets the upper hand. He has Rahena on the ground, and stabs him in the chest. Rahena feels the light start to fade, but not before Bashit, the Tengu scout, screams down from the sky and gouges out the titan of a goblin's eyes. Crying on the ground, the tengu scout relieves him of his life. However, he notices Rehena on the ground much to late, for he cannot be saved. It is said that his last words were, "the lava...cools".
The battle raged for many more hours, and many were dead on either side, but the Giant-Tengu Alliance is victorious. But at what cost?

It is our duty to remove Goblinkind from the Eden we have claimed, In the name of the Prophet Rahena
>>
In a matter of months, the two tribes have seamlessly bonded together into something of a duumvirate; the tengu leader, Bashit, who earned his position at the top for his valor as sky runner in the Battle of the Plain, and the giant leader, a humble fisherman known as Whakapapaku. Together, they are joint chief priests, as both can control the lava. Things have been going quite quietly for the tribe, and many new Giants and Tengu have been born.
One day, while inhaling the holy vapors of the lava, Whakapapaku was given a holy vision from Holokai. He saw a spear, not unlike the fishing spear of his childhood, but instead of bone or jade, it had a gleaming tip. Awaking from the trance, he ordered the workers to strike the earth at a certain position. When they did, they found a gleming brown metal. The people call this copper, and when it is heated, it melts, but hardens up again. The people now have copper tools and weapons, but not enough has been found to make armor.

Pray to Holokai
>>
The two high priests, Whakapapaku and Bashit, meet daily to pray to the Wayfinder. They ask him to show them the secrets of advanced magic. Holokai is moved by their want to know the secrets of the world, he is moved that they want to know the Way. He grants them the ability to manipulate fire of any kind, and any who learn the shamanistic Rite of Holokai are unaffected by the harming of fire.
After some months, some of the tribes advance scout whaleriders met a new race of creatures . They are the...

The advance scout hails some of the creatures. They appear to mechanical in nature, possibly remnants of some kind of technological race that died off. The machine that appears to be in control introduces itself as JF-MG45. He says that the mechanical constructs are willing to show any people they come in contact with some secrets of technology beyond our wildest dreams. Do we trust them
>Yes, they may have cool magitek that will let us spread the lava wherever we go!
>No, I don't trust the men of metal. It is unnatural.

On the way back to Hou Kainga, a terrible storm strikes the convoy. The whalerider is okay, but the machine's ships sink. All except one of the golems sink to Rorofa'is domain. You are able to save one of the machines. When asked about their role, they say they are an arms and armor maker.
When you come back to shore, the tribe treats the machine as an extension of Holokai. They say that only Holokai could bestow the earth's metals with life, and that he must be some kind of emissary.

After they give it its place of honor, the robot explains its purpose: it was an armorer in the land of Nocia, a much more advanced land. He knows a little about metals and mining, but a lot about smithing, making weapons and armor, and imbuing said weapons with magical powers. What do you do now?

The knowledge that the android brings with it is unprecedented. It teaches us how to mine for a new material, it calls it "iron", and he has told us about a new kind of weapons, the sword. It tells us that a great catastrophe has befallen the land, and that many places of higher learning are now gone. Nonetheless, trouble is brewing. Some of the tribesmen think that the slaves are secretly in contact with more goblins, and that they may revolt soon if this goes unattended.

"The treacherous scum!" the cry goes out. "We give them a home, a purpose, and they conspire against us? THROW THEM INTO THE VOLCANO!"
And so, one by one, the goblin slaves are thrown into the volcano. Next, it falls on finding the remaining goblin resistance and destroying them. But who do we send?
