How it's your superhero campaign going?
What's the best system to play a superhero based campaing?
What are some cool ideas for characters/NPCs?
Do you prefer fantasy or real lands? Past or future?
What do you use as inspiration?
It was going pretty good until..
>Frost Queen and Remix players had to actually show up to work
>Frank Sertechio: Ghost Cop's player got depression and stopped coming
>Sentinel's player changed colleges
>The Enigma's player dropped out
>The semester ended
Mutants and Masterminds 3e.
My own homebrew comicbook universe, based on the idea of competing hero organizations, sort of DC meets one-punch-man.
I would just come up with ideas based on what I would want to see in a comic book and kinds of stories would grab my players.
real, current
old superman and justice league comics.

Inquisitive, cavalier and horizon walker are confirmed to make it into the new splatbook. What are your thoughts on those choices?

Inquisitive Rogue is good, Horizon walker is good. Cavalier is hot fucking garbage and should have never touched anything beyond the ideas table.

Gentlemen, how do we make the Raven Guard, Salamanders, Ironhands and White Scars relevant again?
The real question is how do we make the Imperial Fists even more relevant? (Pic unrelated)

How often did you use gods' whims\manipulations as a plot device?
I want to build a system analogous to Steven Erikson's book series where, basically, there are primeval and latter gods and some antagonism going on. And the logical base would partly be that some domains are going obsolete (like the hunter-gatherer society is mostly long-gone by now, so no one reveres the totemism gods in the sense they did millennia ago).
My main concern with all this is that the players might get unsettled with the scale. It's hard to balance apart from handing out abstract divine power points that change owners.
The idea to launch some action in motion so far has been of latest empire ruler meddling with the primal power of creation (he had the corresponding artifact in his hands) and failing at it which resulted in a magical cataclysm (as for Cyre in Eberron). And, in particular, this has freed up some divine power points to be grasped by the dead and dying gods. So this basically gives me carte blanche to grant spells \ cleric levels to certain antagonists. Or maybe the de-powered gods are themselves antagonists, weakened and mortal yet with experience and 10+ class levels (5ed).
That's the outline, so far. What's your take?
>>53668083
I make a point of going out of my way to disallow direct intervention by gods, because in my eyes it's kind of a snub to the players, to pretend like anything they can do actually matters when literal gods are running the universe.
I generally tend to say some divine edict or barrier or some other plot-convenient thing keeps gods from interacting in the affairs of this realm directly, and that they can only do so through their followers (classes like clerics and paladins).
>>53668083
I tried, but it doesn't work. My setting had the primary conceit that the Gods decide what the destiny of Man will be, and people are sort of stuck in their designated role.
The villain wanted to destroy the Tapestry of Fates, so everyone could make their own choices. But when he met the group, the Paladin went:
> "Wait, so you're saying - My destiny was to be who I am, and your destiny was to be a villain?"
> "Yes, but I-"
Then he just waded in and chopped the other guy to bits. He didn't even both listening to the explanation! When I asked him why he didn't hear the other guy out, he went:
> "My PC is happy with who he is. Why would he want his fate to be any different? He'd heard enough."

Since the new "present" is going to be about 120.M42, will the iconic intro change?

>Warhammer 41k

>It is the 42nd millennium, or maybe still the 41st... because we might have lost track of the date a few times!
>>53669382
I'm pretty sure the intro is not done from an in-setting pov.
I always liked to imagine it was the long lost transcript future telling of a psychic-servitor-thing back in the dark age of technology.
Have you ever played a strong woman?
>>53666095
Nothing as freaky-looking as that, but my current Champions character is a strength 80 (that's 1,600 tons carrying capacity) 13-year-old girl.
Nope, also never seen one played with a strength above any of the male characters in the party.
>>53666095
Yup. Female human paladin vaguely inspired by Furiosa, high str and dex, but still primarily a dex character. Another guy in my group is playing a female wood elf barbarian that's stronk as fuk.
Post your favorite dark elf/night elf concepts. Anything of that nature

I actually liked the dark elves in Thor: Dark World. They reminded me of 40k dark eldar, just less edgy.

I'm not sure if it fits what you're after, but I always really enjoyed the Elves of Lorwyn as far as murderous elves went.

How do you guys go about loss of limbs in D&D? Is there a specific amount of damage that does it? How much DOT due to blood loss?
I'm writing up a pirate campaign and plan on at least one PC being hit by a cannon ball. song related
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNy3R7Q9-6g
I go off of the AD&D 2e spell "Break Limb" (it was a spell introduced in the Ravenloft setting, and later put into the Priests' Spell Compendium). That spell causes 1d10 damage for snapping the limb completely in half.
As for bleeding damage for a lost limb, I would make it little to none. Two reasons for that: one, it makes it that much more likely that you're gonna have a player die, which is totally fine, but players should always feel like they had some sort of say in their death. And second, the body is hardwired to deal with amputated limbs. Often times, when a limb is completely severed from the body, the blood vessels spasm, retract, and close themselves off so that you don't bleed out. In some cases, this doesn't happen, but being that the characters are supposed to be the "heroes" (and for the sake of simplicity within the rules), I'd rule it that they don't take bleed damage, since from that point they'd be bleeding no more than a regular sword-fight wound, which normally wouldn't bleed more HP from them in D&D rules.
That's my take on it anyhow. Hope this helps!
First ask yourself: How will PCs be able to replace lost limbs ?
Because, without options to replace lost limbs, a lost limb is such a big deal that many players will want to roll up a new character instead of playing the crippled one.
Oh and if you're thinking that you'll just make the players keep playing the crippled PC, that just makes the situation worse. You will get players breaking character because they want their PC to die so they can replace it.
>>53665624
>How do you guys go about loss of limbs in D&D?
I don't. If I wanted to, I'd play Harnmaster instead which has amputation rolls out-of-the-box.
Has anyone tried this before? I found some templates googling around after seeing a papercraft battlewagon.
Is this hard? The templates look hard. What would you do if someone plopped one of these across the table from you?
A few more i thought looked good

Well... That was bothersome. Getting all the Root systems to agree to an unregulated seeding of feral droids did not go over lightly. A great deal of concern over shepherding the swarms, and if they somehow removed the Root override system for the eventual harvest.
It's not like we're using nanomachines or anything. The Trunk fabrication facilities are pretty static in design, only minor alterations to speed mineral extraction, or streamlining fabrication of its favored model are recorded.
Regardless, a consensus was reached. While by no means instant, we are looking at a 523% increase in military models within the next solar cycle. Civilians ships without Root systems are highly suggested to avoid all feral fabrication facilities. While programmed to be non-aggressive in their terravore diet, they will not spare any resource in securing the safety of their nesting sites.
Redpill me on "West Marches" campaigns.
I see advertisements for these things popping up all the time these days on Roll20. What's their deal? What makes them different from sandboxes? Why are they so popular these days?
That's not what redpill means.
>>53664846
Not until you learn what redpill means.

I don't know anything about it, but now I am curious.
This comes in two parts. There was supposed to be 4 more games until the final one, then a second part of the game would continue after the DM had his break.
>DM invites friend for the game
>Player that is the shop worker (SW) comes into play as a high noble
>DM lets him be that cause SW was busy for the last month or so and unable to play and planning
>SW is playing as a crazy wizard
>New guy wants to see how crazy he can get
>"I cast madness on him"
>SW see's us as hostile orcs and reverses gravity on us and we crash down
>This nearly kills all of us
>DM asks new guy if he want's exp for that and new guy says yes
>New guy casts madness again on him
>In his madness he manages to kill a player
>Fuck off new guy
>New guy then has to leave
>DM apologizes for what happened and SK casts resurrection on guy that died
Part two
>Over the course of the campaign somebody we will call AH min maxed and got loot like a wish ring and a 5+ great sword he either grave robbed from other players or got lucky.
>Would PVP people who would get in his way
>He is now working as the body guard for SW
>As part of entertainment wants a child slave to hold AH sword
>He goes and kills the kid
>SW tells him no, hand the kid your sword
>AH says no and SW asks again
>AH then goes to attack the high leveled wizard
>He then gets restrained by others
>Uses his wish ring and says "I wish everyone else in this room is dead"
>game ends
>Literately everyone is pissed at him cause he killed everyone and the guy who sat out for a month.
>MFW this is the second campaign he ruined by killing everyone
If you are reading this you know who you are. Never come back.
>>53664706
OP here. I understand using madness the first time but after killing almost every NPC and doing the same trick again, that is unacceptable.
