I'm going to be running a game with military and espionage elements, not quite metal gear but similar in terms of tech.
I'm looking for tips on
1. running guns and shit since I've only ever done sword and sorcery
2. how to run cool and exciting espionage. what ways can i do it.
3. i guess a jumping off point, some other source material besides metal gear. maybe some example scenarios maybe?

For modern games, I use a homebrew system :
>d20 system
>10 HP and 10 stress point
>When 0 HP, the character is dead
>When 0 Stress, the character can't use his bonuses. If he goes as low as -5, he starts having heavy penalties. At -10 he may not be able to perform certain tasks.
>4 skills with +2, points can be put into one skill
>Skills can be quite vague/general for the purpose of the game or extremely specialised
>1d6 for damage wih firearms : 1-2 correspond to the lowest tier of wound, 3-4 middle ground and 5-6 high wound.
>If a character doesn't know he'll get shot and he get shot, all of the damage are inflicted also into the stress, if he knows, then only half of the damage are inputed on stress. If he's a civilian, always apply this rule, even if he knows he'll get shot.
>Different firearms :
Light Pistols (for small arm caliber)
Heavy Pistols (for bigger)
Rifles
Heavy rifles
>Ammunition can influence on the damage : negating armor reduction and such.

How much do you all spend per month on GW? I have been a collector for years, and lately it seems the prices are just creeping too high. It used to be that whenever my jaw dropped, I could look up to the top of the screen, see an Australian flag, and then sigh in relief as I changed it to USA. Now even with US prices I'm getting sticker shock. Pic related is $116. It's just getting insane, and I've almost painted through my entire back log.
I get that it's a hobby, other things are expensive, etc etc. I've never really let it bother me until now. What do?

Let's have a small fighting tournament featuring /tg/-related characters.
We need to make 8 characters and they will be put in battle simulation facing against each other. Character can be anything /tg/-related: God-Emperor of Mankind, Gary Gygax, Gazebo or even someone you played in a tabletop. You can also contribute by posting images for fighting stages.
Example of battle simulation is attached to this post. Rules for character creation will be posted next. For this tournament we will be using point-buy system.

The more life-like the statue, the more powerful and intelligent it will be. Clay stick-men may come to life, but they might have the mobility and intelligence of slugs.

The personalities of the statues will be influenced by their outer form, but you don't really know how, or to what extent.
You do know that they will feel more loyal to their creators and their kin.

A hammer could be highly effective, but many of these statues are now under guard by some mysterious organization.
