You only make us stronger.
Does anyone have copies of (or links to) the What If Hulk and Thor datafiles for Marvel Heroic Roleplaying? Archive.org didn't save them and all the fansites seem too pussy to post them.
And fell free to hijack this thread with superhero game stuff.
>>53974274
I keep meaning to read this game. I've heard nothing but good about it, aside from the sparse original donut rules.
>>53974371
I haven't had a chance to run it but yeah, it's good for playing as Marvel characters but not so good for making OCs. The random Datafile generator seems very ICONS-esque and doesn't fit in with the rest of the game.
Where does everyone go now to download PDFs of old rulebooks? I'm dying to learn how to play Shadowrun, but don't have the money to buy anything for it.
Lurk more.
>>53974219
I'd rather just ask my question, receive an unhelpful answer, then move on.
There should be a "PDF thread" or "PDF share thread" in the catalog but I can't find such right now. Also, torrents.
>Tengu character
>Raven/crow features
every fucking time
i like ravens too but there are so many better, more interesting looking birds out there to shape your character into, why do they always fall for the raven meme?
and no, albino ravens don't count as something different
>>53974028
>Tengu character
>avian features
disgusting
@53974028
> but there are so many better, more interesting looking birds out there to shape your character into
I like how you couldnt name one
Because Tengu are specifically associated with ravens.
If it's a bird person and not a raven, it's not a tengu. It's a harpy, or something.
Thinking about running a Harry potter oneshot.
Crazy ideas for it welcome. Will probably steal the background and Voldemort from HP and methods of rationality.
interest was expressed in playing Death Eaters.
make them go kill dumbledore?
>>53974013
What system?
"Harry Potter" as in set in the wizarding world? Or "Harry Potter" as in set in fucking Hogwarts? Because those are two very different campaigns.

Not my fault ratmen are not such a common race.
Anyone here interested in playing a One Piece RPG through Roll20?
I'm looking for players, but I haven't seen a LFG thread in awhile, and I don't know how many fa/tg/uys here are also One Piece fans. I'm using Mutants and Masterminds 3e as the system.
If you're interested and confident that you are not That Guy, maybe we can get in touch through Discord?
>>53972828
I've always been interrestred, and even applied to a number of the games that popped up when "One Piece D20" first came out. I'd be super interrested in an online one piece game using any number of fun systems.

What kind of fey folk do you put in your setting? Do you have both seelie and unseelie? Benign spirits or malicious little bastards? Or both?
>>53971361
All of those. Faerie are weird and diverse sort and can afford every kind to be about.
>>53971361
I make a distinction into three groups: seelie, unseelie, and house spirits.
Seelie include the spirits like nymphs, dryads, spriggans, and harmless little sprites, including something like the little white tree spirits from Mononoke. Very benign unless you really fuck with their habitat.
The unseelie are subterranean assholes who will try to get you killed. There's a type of underground spirit that will try to bury you alive, a water naiad who will drag you under, and small will-o-the-wisps who will lead you astray into a patch of quicksand or a murky swamp. It's not that they're super aggressive, but they hate trespassers.
House spirits form a bond with families. Kobals disguise themselves as cats, and live in the walls of rural homes. They need to be fed, otherwise they will start knocking things over, breaking things, and throwing around pots and pans. Best to keep them fed and happy. Vestials live in the hearths of homes and protect against evil spirits. They won't become a nuisance if they are ignored, they will just leave.

Diogenes somehow managed to shitpost his way into transcedence and ascension as an Olympian deity, gaining an official place in Greek pantheon.
What are his designated domains, powers, mythos, champions and relationships with other Greek gods and supernatural beings?
>>53970698
He and Socrates become the anti-Augustus and Caesar as they sit in on Olympus and shit talk everything
He is the god of dogs and shitposting.
>>53970698
He'd be basically useless as a god because he doesn't do anything since he thinks they don't really need his help
Childhood: Thinking Good and Evil, along with Law and ChoaS are fun games to play

>Actual grown-up not full of poz loads: There is nothing wrong with the alignment system.
Childhood: Thinking in only of terms of Good, Evil, Lawful and Chaotic
Adulthood: Realizing the alignment system is stupid
Actual grown-up: Attaining enlightenment with the knowledge that a minigun with over 6,000 RPM is the best alignment
I just had a realization: RPs are the natural evolution of RPGs, better for those who are more creative. Follow the arrows:
RPG:
> structure is predefined and restrictive, anything outside of it needs to be homebrewed in a way it works with the existing structure.
> DM is the almighty god who holds the responsibility for the major part of the game. A bad DM will always ruin the entire table.
> success and failure are determined by dice, players are limited in just roleplaying the result. A successful or failure in a specific moment may set the story off rails or defy logic, giving an artificial feeling to the setting.
> need for growth to stay relevant to the plot creates artificial behaviors, such as min maxing, murderhoboing, greediness and selfishness.
> each player needs to develop a knowledge of the system in order to work fluently
RP:
> no structure, players enjoy utmost freedom to use their creativity in creating a compelling storyline.
> no DM, each player has equal access and responsability in the making of the setting and ensuring the enjoyability of the entire table.
> success and failure are determined by the own players, who do it to satisfy the narrative and create an enjoyable story to the table.
> growth is only used to improve the narrative, and when it would be fun to do so, more equal to a book or a movie than a videogame.
> each player isn't bound by limited knowledges that only apply in a single system, being able to dedicate himself to only roleplaying.
Removing the concept of systems is necessary to allow creativity to rise freely. Of course that only apply to those who can actually function without a nanny to tell them what is good or bad to the game. Do you guys agree?
>>53970106
Choas cannot exist without order and order cannot exist without chaos.
There has to be some kind of ruleset whether simple or complex.
>>53970106
we're not interested in mere collaborative story-telling. we're using to dice to take matters out of the hands of both players and GM, thus providing challenge. if you don't need challenge, as provided by dice, but are satisfied with mere creativity, more power to you. i don't follow.
it depends on what kind of person you are
some people who like role playing games will indeed go on to role play without a game while others will go on to play games without roles
still a third category of people will go on to role games where there is no play at all and the participants simply sit around silently in character until one person wins by attrition
How much experience does it take to get to 1st level?
>>53969871
1 xp.
>>53969871
How long's a piece of string?
>>53969871
Zero. You start at first level. Everyone starts at first level. You pop out of your mother at first level.
I thought we cleared this up in the dozen or so ">level 1 character has a background ugh.jpg" threads by now.
>Elven men are so feminine and can be hardly told apart from their women. Yes, they live long, but are fucking retarded and can't learn shit in all those decades. All it takes is 10.000 solid swords and solid men behind them and elven kingdom will be

>>53969108

Thread Question:
What's your signature card?
>>53967558
I have too many decks that all vary on what they do.
Though I just build a raidmother deck, and the signature winner for that is pic related
>>53967558
>What's your signature card?
its in every deck
just keeps getting better and better the more you cast it
even the first time you cast it its good value but the 2nd or 3rd time they gotta make some real hard decisions
and obviously this is for casual decks
>>53967558
>Thread Question:
Not much of a signature, but every time I play it I'm greeted with a salvo of "go fuck yourself".
