What happened to the love affair Forge World had with Imperial Guard? It feels like the guard hasn't gotten anything new in years.
How do I do a nutrition system for food?
Depends on the context and why you're making a system in the first place.
>>54060835
Play GURPS,I guess. I'm not sure why you wouldn't just suggest the nutrition through narrative, though.
>>54060851
Doing a low tech survival game and don't want the players living completely of one food that grows fast.

There are giant, mountain-sized machines that were abandoned by the old ones
Once every hundred or so years, they spontaneously animate and go on destructive rampages that clear entire sections of nations of their population. These rampages can last for as little as a day to as long as a year or more.
They cannot be stopped, they have no mind and no clear motivation. They're are simply malfunctioning without even knowing it. The rampage ends abruptly, and where they stop tends to be their new resting place for the next century, as they are too heavy to move and most are too frightened to touch them.
So here's the thing: I like the idea of a fantastic realm running up against a modern/near future one, being in conflict and/or working together.
Problem is, most fantasy fundamentally doesn't measure up to modern tech. The flaming sword won't dent a tank, and unless a dragon is also a God a few missiles would ruin its day. Fireballs and grenades are not equivalents. The few attempts at crossover between these two things never fits right.
So then the solution as I see it is to scale up the fantasy, both in utility and raw power without necessarily just modernizing it. But what would such a fantasy realm look like? Are there any examples?

>unless a dragon is also a God a few missiles would ruin its day
Protection from Normal Missiles is a first-level spell.
Unless the missiles are enchanted, they won't hit it.
There's a really shitty film called Reign of Fire that deals with dragons attacking the modern age. Might be a starting point.
The Wutai war of FF7 (I'm really reaching here) deals with a far removed and traditional village fighting Shinra, a megacorporation.
All in all, just scale up the magic appropriately.
So I am currently working on a fallout tabletop game (aware that there are already some, but most are incomplete and kind of shmeh imo). I was wondering if I could get some suggestions on a few roadblocks I've encountered with calculating aim.
My biggest issue comes in the category of Energy Weapons, and whether or not to keep them separate from other types of weapons. Combat actions are not governed by skills, though I do have classic out of combat skills. I currently have the weapon categories of Pistols, Rifles, Big Guns, Energy Weapons, Automatics, and Melee.
Mostly, I am unsure of whether or not to just filter Energy Weapons into those other groups based on what type of Energy Weapon it is, or possibly make parallel groups of weaponry for Energy variants.
Another thought I've had is whether or not to include INT as a score modifying Energy Weapon's accuracy scores. I have Perception modifying all weapons, with specific alternate SPECIAL scores for all categories other than rifles that also modify them. I'll post specific aim scores below.
Base Aim and Character Aim:
Each weapon type has its own Base Aim, which is where the aim begins before modifiers, as well as the guidelines for applying S.P.E.C.I.A.L. to the chance to hit.
Rifle Ballistic: 50% + (PER x 5)%
Pistol Ballistic: 50% + (PER x 2)% + (AGI x 2)%
Automatic Ballistic: 25% + (PER x 2)% + (AGI x 2)%
Energy Weapons: 50% + (PER x 2)% + (INT x 2)%
Big Guns: 40% + (PER x 2)% + (STR x 2)%
Melee: 70% + (PER x 2)% + (STR x 3)%
My biggest issue is that I know I want intelligence involved in the effectiveness of Energy Weapons, but am unsure on how to go about it. I don't know if accuracy is the proper area to have it affect, obviously Perks for Energy Weapons will require INT. My other issue is, if not INT, what secondary SPECIAL should affect Energy Weapons' accuracy? Perception, as in 3 and NV? Perhaps dividing them amongst the other weapon groups? There are so many routes to take, and I'd just love a little input on which one is best?
Also bump.

What does /tg/ use to substitute their miniatures? I want to begin DMing and planned to buy a dry erase battle mat and was trying to decide what to use.

Most if not all your problems with D&D and other such systems can be solved by just not playing them and not going out of your way to shit on it everytime it's mentioned.
Prove me wrong.
Bump good threads, ignore bad ones. That's all you need to do, New Guy
A better solution would be if Wizards of the Coast went out of business, and if the Critical Roll group all contracted meningitis at the same time, and that D&D was never mentioned on Big Bang Theory or Stranger Things ever again, so that the game would be wiped from the planet after a few years and then actually good games like Dungeon World would start gaining traction instead.

I've heard a lot of people call ol' Mort a racist, an idiot, a hypocrite etc. those that do like him tend to like him because he's the grim reaper and that's it. However, I think if you actually look at the man, you see something else. Mortarion hated psychers. For this he's been called a bigot, which isn't fair. Hating someone based on the color of their skin or that type of shit is stupid and bigoted. But having a distrust of a group of people who can shoot lightening from their hands and (in the case of mortarion's first encounter with a psycher, his adopted father on barbarus) can raise the dead isn't that strange. Mortarion grew up in what I believe was the harshest environment of any primarch. Sure curze had to hear a rape/murder every night, but he wasn't used as plaything by an abusive psycher and made to watch as beings he came to realize were his species where murdered and experimented upon. Unlike angron and curze, he had father figure, one who abused him. Anyone that has been in an abusive household or relationship knows how horrifying it can be. He grew to hate his father. His father the psycher, his father the tyrant. And so he ran away, ran away from the only home he'd ever known. He found people like himself. He became their guardian, their protector. He loved them and they loved him. He waged war against the tyrant without psychic powers and was winning. And then the emperor came. A tyrant and a psycher who stole his revenge and forced him into back into a near identical situation as the one he'd just escaped. I think it's pretty understandable why he turned to chaos
>>54055026
He was a smelly fart who deserved to be locked in a car on a hot summer day

>And then the emperor came. A tyrant and a psycher who stole his revenge and forced him into back into a near identical situation as the one he'd just escaped. I think it's pretty understandable why he turned to chaos
You ARE aware that
A) Mort didn't want to join Chaos, was horrified when he finally figured out what he got himself into, tried to get out and ultimately had to be tortured into servitude by Nurge
and
B) In his last moments of agony before he finally succumbed, he realized he was in the exact same situation like on Barbarus long ago, that he was gonna fail and falter again when the stakes were highest, only this time his father wasn't going to come to his rescue?
>>54055026
this >>54056800. Mortarion hated anything to do with the warp, if he was stronger he would have killed himself and his legion to deny nurgle victory.
What kind of armor do you put into your fantasy setting?
For me it is 1100-1250, mail still dominates while nobles wear tabards and great helms/conical helms are most common.
It's based on Antiquity, so it includes plate armor and mail.
mostly 800s-1000s with minor forward anachronismsprimitive coats of plates, longswords, flails and crossbows, and much more of backward anachronisms [spoilers]mostly roman-time stuff, though rather celtic/greek than roman in sense of culture
>>54054863
Whatever the system provides, because I'm the only history autist in the group, and the others are visibly upset when I want to take away their standard shit for more flavourful things. And in the end, it's not worth the trouble to work through a set of equipment of wholly my own creation just so I can marginally enjoy it while the rest doesn't care.
