When developing a setting, reading lore, or adventuring through the world, which do you prefer, and why?
Primitive, definitely. I personally enjoy the aesthetic of it more. Renaissance is tied to a particular aesthetic, whereas primitive is more broad and can change dependent on the resources available to the tribe, and the location of their lands.
>>54070664
Primitive for rural/agrarian/wilderness adventures. Renaissance for urban adventures.
Either so long as there is cool shit.
I've got a touch of writer's block
The dwarves of my roughly bog standard fantasy pre-register setting shun raw magic, instead favoring metallurgy and engineering, and dabbling with spiritual "knowledge of the forefathers" type magic. The glorious ancient empire is lost, the old highways closed off and ruins dot the landscape with no record of their treasures.
So what could they have stowed away in a lost keep? A clan of dwarves having set out hundred of years ago, falling victim to the Fae in a swamp of briars, their men not even buried in the tombs.
Ancient golems? A wondrous rod that shapes earth to your will? A device capable of shunting a soul into a new body? A crystal array that let's you view the past through it's lenses? Bronze cannons that fire rays of pure light and heat?
I know I want it to be limited to use by dwarves, or at least very much so appeal to my two musketeer/dragoon type dwarf players
>>54068995
What about some steampunk "lost tech" armor that's cut for tiny dwarves? Put some crazy ass guns on there and have some dead guard half buried in a slide or something, under the rubble?
>>54069170
Ehhh that could work; the old empire used sci-fi levels of retrotech to put down superhighways underground, so I could see powerarmor being a thing.
Maybe a cadre of trapped souls bound to the suits, insane from being sealed away for so long...
>>54068995
Quartzlock muskets.
Pneumatic cannons.
Spring-powered clockwork dart pistols.
Bonsai crystals.
Siege golems.
A lost nest of alicantos.
I'm putting together a high magic setting and I'm creating a university where each school of magic is more or less the magical equivalent of a real life natural/social science. For now i have:
Abjuration: Law?
Conjuration:
Divination: Philosophy?
Enchantment: Psychology
Evocation: Physics
Illusion:
Necromancy:
Transmutation: Chemistry
Will /tg/ help find the rest?
>>54068203
>Necromancy: Autopsy
>>54068218
except autopsy is part of a larger science: medecine. But i see your point.
maybe thanatology?
>>54068203
>Conjuration: Economy and Finances (money is what you use to make others do your bidding)
>Illusion: Arts (self-explanatory)
>Necromancy: either Medicine or History
I'm looking for general hints and tips for sessions about battles
In a high power level campaign, how do you make a huge battle with the players participating in it as their characters (not as generals moving armies)?
The idea would sorta making a dynasty warriors feel of overpowered guys versus hundreds
>>54068108
You give them specific things to do during the battle, like take out siege engines, rescue VIPs, and killing badass enemy generals.
Basically exactly like Dynasty Warriors.
>>54068238
that's so obvious its painful
>>54068238
Yeah, and then just make a simple system of consequences that influence the battle at large and their other encounters. If they're not fast enough with the siege engines, then the walls are breached and they have an extra fight before they move on to the next objective.
Sup, /tg/. So I was browsing da archive, and I just can't find for the love of anything HH's 44 Crimson King. Any of you elegan/tg/entlemen happen to have it lying around somewhere online?
>>54066642
>current year
>not realizing we have an entire board for books
Shiggy-diggy-doo.
Thanks for letting me know this was out though.
>>54066642
But how does it work?
>>54066642
First, stop typing like a retard from 2007.
Second, could have just gone to the heresy general, which has the book in the fucking OP.
Third, the book is pure shit, so just for you.
Now get your shitty book and fuck off.
>tfw best friend gets eaten by tyranids on last tour of duty
>>54066371
Of course it was hist last tour of duty, he got eaten.
>>54066371
>tfw manlets will finally learn
>>54066371
Well you made it. That's good. Just drown your sorrows in pussy and amesec.
After reading lore on this crazy bitch, I have hard time comprehending, why would ANYONE follow/venerate her. ONLY ONES who might get something from her being in charge are chromatic dragons - but even those would lose most of their freedom.
what drives retards who venerate Tiamat?
The local dragon told them too.
The local dragon lied to them
Tiamut lied to them
They think they are different then the 10000000 other non-dragons she's fucked over.
>>54065592
OP here.
Good points actually.
Because of the zeroth law. After all, when the settlers start expanding they find no alien inteligent life, but the worlds already terraformed.
Also, Asimov thread.
Maybe that's why spacer society collapsed, because their robots fled their worlds to purge the galaxy.
>>54065274
I assume so yeah

Riddle Thread.
I'm getting ready to host a game of D&D with a large dragon dungeon. I want to have several riddles for different colors of dragons.
tl;dr riddles for dragons
Gold Dragon Riddle:
It has a golden head
It has a golden tail
but it hasn't got a body.A gold coin.
>>54065154
It occurs once in every minute, Twice in every mo ment
And yet never in one hundred thousand years. The letter M.

Red Dragon Riddle:
I am always hungry, I must always be fed,
The finger I lick will soon turn red.Fire.
Relatively simple one: Your party member is turned into a goblin, then is placed among 4 other goblins. You don't know which is which.
Your friend will always tell the truth, but regular goblins will always alternate between telling truth and lies, their first answer could be either.
How do you figure out which of the goblins is your transformed friend in two questions?Ask one of them if he's your friend,
then ask the same one which of the goblins aren't his friend.
I plan on running a M&M game for some close friends who are all into tabletop and roleplay. I want to stray from the idea of a superpowered society though, and simply have the characters exist in 2017 where for a variety of reasons, "superheroes" are beginning to crop up.
The idea is that as the party are some of the world's first, not only do they have a great amount of power to do heroic shit, but they are also responsible for how the world comes to view extraordinary men and women like them.
What I'm unsure about is the exact setting. It'll be set in America since my players are all yanks, but what medium-sized city could the players start off in as run-of-the-mill people with new abilities? Nothing huge like LA or NYC.
Thoughts on the setting and the campaign?
You could always make up a city. Or look around for smaller cities, places that have more than 100,000 but less than a million citizens.
If you do go with a smaller city, you have to take into account questions like "why here? Wh not a bigger, more important city?"
If you pick a pre-existing city and don't make one up, you'll want to do some research on the culture of the area, the demographics, the businesses... all of these things could play into motivations for characters, both heroes and villains.
Yu-Gi-Oh! General Thread.
Discuss deck builds, give advice, and generally talk.

Why? Do people playing a card game other Than mtg hurt your delicate sensibilities?
>>54065013
If I enjoy playing a harmless card game, why should I stop?
Try to fulfill the poster above's request. Give alternate border if you cant
Here is a shitty blue flame border I made for one of my players on roll20.
Requesting a steampunk border for a crafter, preferably interlocking gears.
>>54064959
I made these 2 for a Star Wars game I ran a while back. White one's for PCs/allies, dark one's for everything else.
>>54066237
Overlay with a color border for the flavour of dragon.
Poor lad had no left arm, so i made him a prosthetic
How do i make super glue dry faster though? It was falling apart a lot before i got it to stay still
>>54064541
What's his piercing damage?
>>54064541
>Make super glue dry faster
Super glue accelerator. Bob Smith Industries makes a great one that sells on Amazon for about 5-6 burgerbucks. One bottle lasted me two Forge World armies.
>>54064559
dunno yet, but its got a bonus against vampires
