Hey /tg/, so I've been able to make it pretty far in the series off of an archived board with most of the HH books on there, but I've hit a wall with the book I just reached, Deathfire. The guy who originally uploaded it had to do it through a mirror, and currently that link is expired. So if possible, could any of you hook me up with said book? Also if anyone needs any of the books, I'll try to help out.

The Emperor is 40k years old (or more).
He's been around since the caveman days.
If he had sex every 100 years, he would have had at least 400 children.
And yet there's no indication he was even aware of the Sensei at all, in part due to their abilities to hide from him. Nor does it appear he stayed to raise any of them either.
1.) Does it surprise anyone how he acted so unfatherly to the Primarchs when he's probably had thousands of literal sons and daughers he didn't care for
2.) if the Sensei have changling or psyker like abilities akin to the Emperor, would they most likely have been the most influential people in history?

What do you guys think of SB/SV? In the sense of them being discussion sites for fantasy/sci-fi/etc?
Personally I think they're decent but they can be really far up their own sses abot politics. In addition I think they hold themselves back too much.

I browse both sites, and both are cancerous in the extreme. For one, most of them are completely apathetic to the corruption plaguing our society, much preferring to spam inane memes and shitposts all day. They have fights more often than we do, and have to be monitored by their mods 24/7, because they can't police themselves, and they will tear each other apart if nobody is watching them. Speaking of the mods, they are effectively tyrants. If you even slightly disagree with them, expect a ban in your future. Hell, you hardly have to do anything to trigger them, you just need to go and make even a SINGLE post that they don't feel happy with, and the have cause to ban you almost instantly. All in all, you should just lurk the site, and never make an account to post with. It's much better for you that way.

A few of my friends are interested in the idea of a redwall-esque game but the only systems i know are D&D, Pathfinder, RIFTS, OWoD, and Shadowru,. and those systems are gonna be shit for running a redwall-like game.

Anyone use music to set the mood during their campaigns and such? And if so, what is the best/most fitting music you've heard/used during a climactic final battle in the campaign?

I use a lot of music since I use roll20 for a game and creating soundtracks with random play through it is relatively easy, assuming you can find it through their search.

What are some games where the combat feels dynamic and impactful? Meaning, systems where things tend to move along quickly and doing something in the fight has a lot of impact instead of simply taking away abstract resources or something like that? Something where you aren't just attacking until someone is dead.
Feels like so many systems are just "Punch them in the HP equivalent, doing anything else is situational at best." Fuck that, I want games where people are getting thrown around, the situation is changing and things just *happen*.
Please help /tg/, I can't really stand any more combat where everyone is just taking potshots at each other until someone falls over.

They are turning the core vampire game in every way into the worst of the LARP, with the depth of Indie Darling For A Month type RPGs too.

This is a wonderful piece of tinfoil-hattery that was shared with me by the local GW blackshirt. Here goes.
Okay, so we know that Malal/Malice is established as "fuck the Chaos Gods, fuck the humans and aliens, FUCK EVERYTHING." He just wants to tear it all down and have everything be the formless, shifting nothing of pure chaos.
What, aside from the Sons of Malice, best embodies this idea in 40k?
That's right. Tyranids. They arrive, consume, and move on. Nothing remains in their wake--planets are reduced to their lifeless, primordial states.
You see, the Warp was not always a twisting and violent ocean. At one time, the seas were calm, and the gods did not yet exist.
The Old Ones kept it so, because it enabled them to manipulate the Webway to its fullest. But how did they do it?
They had a guardian, of course. A great being to watch over the realm and maintain its emptiness, guide the paradox of its formless tunnels and currents for use by his masters.
But one day his masters disappeared. Their descendants continued to use the Webway, but as they grew in strength they created horrors from the deepest canyons and chasms of their own minds.
The Chaos Gods were being birthed.

Yet a guardian no more, no, no, now a vessel of anger, righteous HATRED, these filthy mortals and these corrupted daemons had squandered the gifts of his creators and twisted the order of things. No more a defender, no, he would take a new name--MALAL, pure malice--and he would purge the galaxy and drive it back to the beginning, past chaos and back to erebus, darkness and nothing, nothing at all.
So in secret, he began to plot the downfall of his foes. He birthed a new race of servants, soulless animals who would answer only to his mind--they would cast a shadow in the warp, and be anathema to the Gods. He gathered mortal followers to his whim, and bade them summon his scattered pieces from the Warp back into reality. They would consume and destroy, and when all was finished they too would die out, and Malice would be all alone to sleep.
To sleep, hopeful with the quiet dream that his masters dreamed.

What is it like to live in a fantasy world like d&d or pathfinder?
For example:
What are some racist stereotypes that could exist in a fantasy universe?
What's it like casting magic? and what is magic really? Is it a sort of natural arcane energy? Is wizardry the manipulation of some sort of surrounding magic, or is it from within the soul, the spirit, the blood, or is it something else entirely?
I like to imagine spells as something you cast, and if you mess up the ingredients it doesn't come out right. Like the words, symbols and incantations are simply tools of construction help it to flow better and be more accurate. You could tell when you mess it up because it just doesn't feel right, which is why you'd have to focus. Like it would take 3 years as an apprentice before you could cast a spell and have it actually have it be kinda strong. Most noobs could memorize the spells, but couldn't really grasp the meaning behind it, and what a wizard is trying to really... do. If that was the case, then different wizards might have different incantations to cast the same spells, and would be able to innovate with the incantations. It would be both an art and a science; the science of understanding magic, and the art of casting it. Because it would be an art, different wizards might have different ways of constructing their spells, even if they were casting the same spell.
What about the economics systems and industry, how would they be affected by fantasy elements? I like to watch how it's made, so when I think of the existence of magic and automatons I wonder if there would be sorts of factories that involve magic in the creation process. Could there be a magical equivalence to the industrial revolution? What about artisan mages, who use their spells mainly for the sake of making fortunes by producing goods?
Share ideas, I want to get a more wholesome understanding of what a fantasy world would be like.
